I'm rooting for Torre in the series. He was always a class act, win or lose. I'm glad they brought in Girardi when they did, as it was time for a change, but we owe Torre for his years of service, and his part in the championships.
I wouldn't mind seeing Manny club the BoSox to death either....LOL
I wouldn't mind seeing that either, but it's true LA is in a very weak division and I don't think that will happen. Incidentally, I wouldn't mind seeing anyone club the BoSox.

Hey Jim I have to disagree with you here. Torre is a damn good manager and didn't get enough credit for all those playoff appearances.. I never heard him cry and say don't blame me when the Yankees have lost. Also the yankees did insult him with the one year deal.. if he did sign it and yankees didn't make the playoffs he would have been uninvited back.. and why does Girardi get a bye this year? He supposedly was more discilplined than torre and yet waited to bench Cano when it was too late.. time will tell but I think time will prove Torre to be the better manager..<quoted text>
We'll have to agree to disagree Muhammad. I never saw him as a good mgr. and never liked him. He didn't openly say he was upset with criticism for not winning but he played on the poor me and fans sympathy. Did he have to call the Yankees offer an insult rather then say it was time to move on? He should have been fired years ago because he was rewarded for the big years and then stopped producing.
Personally, I think he had cut a deal with LA before the Yanks even made him an offer last year. To save face he played up the insult nonsense. Someone should insult you or I with an offer like that!!! Here's 5 million and I'll give you up to 3 more million if you meet expectations! If he's that good he should have lunged at an offer like that. He took less to go west! And he certainly shouldn't be too proud of a 6 games over .500 record. That would make him a loser in every division except the one he was fortunate enough to be competing in.
Oh well, enjoy the games!

So when the big boys came out to play, you ran away as fast as you could? Oh hey, you've got Dorito powder on your monitor.

So this life you claim to have is like Comic Book Guy's in "The Simpsons" -- and you think it's better hunched over your keyboard after work (you DO work, I hope) than watching those "silly sports games" with friends at a bar or stadium?

I'll take the sports bar over the keyboard any day, Nerdlinger.

Torre is a good manager. He managed not only the Yankee team, but George Steinbrenner. No question George had mellowed, but he was the first manager to successfully tell George that he couldn't call the dugout during games, and respectfully to trust his baseball decisions.

On the other hand, the tlanets of an MLB manager are overrated. It's the only sport where Joe fan could make the same decisions and be successful. Compared to football and basketball, a baseball manager has much less influence over the quality
of a team and outcome of a game. As La Russa once said, a good manager may mean the difference in 4-5 games a year.

Torre was padi $5 million a year to win championships, not to make the playoffs. The Yankees were happy that he didn't accept their offer the last year.

Oooh lookie, the track star is back dissing baseball. Did you sniff your jock before running the mile back in the day? Do you hate baseball because you couldn't hit, field, or were you scared of the ball?

Track is a child's game that only w/usses played.

Comments like yours are expected from someone who runs track. I heard the track team even wears jocks although they have nothing to fill them with, just so they can feel like an athlete.
Couldn't hit, catch and ya threw like a girl so the only thing left was to run from the bullies who you felt threatened by. I bet your manhood has been questioned a million times in your life time.
Track-ooooohhhhhh you silly savage!

Hey stupid -- ALL SPORTS ARE CHILDREN'S GAMES! The adult versions are more athletic, harder to play, and not quite as entertaining.

Oh wait, you don't think kids box or practice mixed-martial-arts? WRONG! Kids even race child-style cars, called go-carts. Track is the most childish sport of all; no skill, just running.

OK OK Baseball is a kids game that also happens to be played by people of all ages. Unless of course they're like you and can't play sports because of a total lack of ability and understanding!!!
Is that better???
I'll bet you played with dolls while other boys were playing baseball didn't you???

Of course baseball is a wonderful child's game. Going to a stadium brings us back to our youth.

And watching you quibble with this guy was like watching two 12 year olds argue.
