I'm glad that Coach Mac will run more. With LJW and Libre running the ball it will give Hawaii another dimension. The offense needed to be changed, a little.

I love to see the ball in the air. But going to the run more won't keep me away from Aloha Stadium. I'm anxious to see what happens this year. Fourth in the WAC? I think we're going to surprise some people...

For Hawaii to have an excellent season, the key will be scoring more against the other team in the fourth quarter in the road games. So do what it takes to accomplish this. Like sprinting up at Mauna Kea.

I agree. I love to see an airial attack but you have to establish a productive running game just to keep the defense at bay.

Meant to say Hey Trigeek
Don't even give Alice the goon the time of day. He/she or it always writes in to this blog to dog UH. It's not worth your time or energy.

Geez Alice, for someone who's always dogging UH sports it sure seems like you spend a lot of time online reading UH related articles in the sports section. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But let me share something with you. There is a PAC-10 school that for the longest time was one of the worst football schools in the country. Most people only went to the game to watch the future NFL stars on the teams coming to town. This school was very highly regarded for its engineering and science programs, involved with a lot of research through grants and school funding. But, relatively spent little on the athletic program. How much of that was a direct result of what translated to the football field is hard to say, but the football team was terrible for close to 30 years. A change happened at the top, new university president, and the new administration decided they were going to spend more on the athletic programs and in particular football. Well guess what happened. The football team started winning, more fans started coming to games, the whole community got more excited. The team is now a perenial bowl team and has only lost once in a bowl since 2000.

The point I'm trying to make is that not all of the excitement remained on the playing field/court. The pride that was built being associated with a winning football program also translated to a higher student body enrollment and larger donations to academic programs. People, alumni and otherwise, wanted to be associated with all of the excitement. More funding is coming in to the university then ever before.

Can this be traced directly to the football programs recent success? Of course that is hard to quantify but how coincidental that the sports programs are doing better after getting additional funding, AND, the university as a whole is also prospering.

Closer to home, there was more interest in UH last year because of the football teams BCS run then ever before. Guess what, the state legislators are now more involved with fixing problems at UH most of which are unrelated to sports.

So look at the big picture. Sports are the most visible part of a university. It is the schools primary ambassador to the community. Schools tend to get better in many ways with the growth of their athletic programs. Everyone should support every facet that helps the university become a better place to be so it can attract more students and dollars.

I agree with alice all of the teams at the bottom of the wac are terrible. A healthy Ian Johnson will kill UH. Didnt LWJ ride the pine all last season because he is not use to the offense or probably because he sucks. Fans please i hope you have the same energy for a losing season as much as you did for a rigged undefeated season..

So now you UH fans have turned this thread into beating down a troll, instead of talking about the WAC. Alice just beat you Bows. But you're too dumb to realize it.
This could have been a great thread.

I am a freshman from North Dakotaa dn go to the UH. I love the UH but feel that the over=emphasis on football hurts the university. Clearly the WAC is not much to respect and the humilating Sugar Bowl left ESPN saying that the WAC would not be allowed back in a BCS bowl if that is the best they could do. I am afraid Florida's third string will slaughter another Wac Team.

If the Broncos were that good how come the WARRIORS became the WAC CHAMP? 4th in the wac standing is a good start to challnge them for #1.

GO WARRIORS, GIVE US ANOTHER SEASON TO BELIEVE IN.

Ah Brent my friend, perhaps you may want to read what the article is about. It deals with the WAC conference and how it's evolved from a passing conference to a more physical conference. I don't care if you hate the bloody piss out of U.H. But let's at least focus on the issue and the article itself.

Tama is very mean. I am not looking for daddy I am reporting what we freshman feel. We are not proud of the warriors and wnat them off campus. Those hired thugs don't go to class and are just trouble. Academics should be emphasized always.

Yes, Warriors will not beat a single respected team this year. JJ lucked out with his high school schedule last year.
