How is that a bad thing?! Would you be happier if we had guys like Mora, Millar, Payton, Huff, and Baez signed to long-term bad contracts? You're a joke, and your constant negativity is maddening.

In 2009 Wieters will be the catcher,
Rowell could be the 3rd basemen, Synder could be on first and Tripp in
the outfield. If not all then the balance in 2010, so why sign people who will not be long term to long term contracts.

One only needs to travel to Frederick to see the future of the
major league team.

Tom from Frederick makes a good point and it raises a question. What do people think the roster will look like in 2 years?
1B ?
2B ?
SS ?
3B Scott Moore
LF Luke Scott
CF Adam Jones
RF Nick Markaks
C Ed Wieters
P Cabrera, Gunthrie, Albers, Olsen, Loewen?
RP?

Why not drop Fahey or L Hernandez even though he is out of options for Citron. He is a better hitter than both. But that puts Bynum in a utility role which I think he is better suited to be an everyday player. Maybe he could split time in left with Scott? Luke needs a day off he is slumping terribly.

Like I said in an earlier post, we won ONE GAME, and I feel like we won the World Series! It's GREAT being an Orioles fan!

That's the only way you're going to feel as though you won the World Series; Beating the KC Royals.
Look, it's nice that you feel so good about one win, but reality has to catch up to you at some point.
This team is bad. The future is bleak. Sorry to break the news. Maybe you haven't noticed over the last 120 + months.
Blow it out your hole dude. The future is looking better... a few trades and we have a decent team. You really are a damper. There are good things to pull from this season, DCab, Guthrie, Johnson, Olson, Jones is growing and learning....

If this team stays healthy, I realy don't care what the record is. We are not going to the playoffs. This year is about seeing these guys grow into themselves. On not having players signed in 2010, Good! the vets on this team need to earn the right to win a Championship in the next 4-7 years. Yes I said it, WE WILL SEE A TROPHY IN BMORE BEFORE 2015!

Stats Update:
Teams with fewer players signed to 2010 MLB contracts-------
None
The Baltimore Orioles have no one, zippo, zilch, nada, naught signed to a contract past next September (2009). That's only 15 months away.
And they tell you they are "rebuilding."
How, exactly, are they "rebuilding" if they have yet to commit to the first person on that team????! Yes, I know they'll retain the rights to Markakis, Jones, etc., but most of the hitters will be off contract after next season.
Since there is a drought of positional talent in the minors, the team is left with two choices:
1) A roster full of AAAA hitters and castoffs.
2) A repeat of the Huff, Millar, Payton signings with comparable talent.
They don't have much left to trade. I see a really awful team coming up soon. Really, really terrible.
That was far better analysis than Maese has ever written. Can you send him a sample of your work so he can learn.

Thanks

There are too many Chicken Littles here. There are many examples of teams poor teams turning things around and being perennial winners. Boston is an example...For many years the Orioles outclassed Boston. Now Boston turned its fortune around and is now one of the elite teams. The Orioles have had some horrible years because of mismanagement, including poor personnel decisions. However, that was the past and the Orioles are now finally doing the right things. There is a new sheriff in town. For those naysayers, please, please be fans of the teams that are winning now and when those teams start to do poorly, pick another winning team. You will be a lot happier perhaps? Just please take your whining with you, too.

Where is Blake Davis, he played in Frederick last year and looked good
as a shortstop?
Blake Davis is currently the starting shortstop for the Bowie BaySox, the Orioles' AA affiliate in the Eastern League. In 31 games played this season, his batting average is .213 and on-base percentage is .289. To find out more about Davis, you can log on to mlb.com or the official websites of the Orioles, BaySox or Minor League Baseball.

"...If you want me to drop-kick somebody, I'll drop-kick them...." How's that for immediate impact! You've got to love Freddie Bynum.

My guess is probably that some international baseball players could come in two years or more.

Freddy "ZOOM ZOOM" Bynum is back and happy as a kid in a candy store. He played well at short and Trembly knew that was the good move. Now there is another threat to steal so get ready for some more base running errors. The Sun asked which pitcher would lead the O's in wins before the season started. I picked Cabrera but he was stuck in last place. Jump on the BANDWAGON BALTIMORE. The season ain't over til it's over.

I am very excited about the O's future. Trembley has shown he is the man in charge. The only thing I wish he would do more often is to get thrown out of games to put a spark in the team at times. He argues calls IMHO too diplomatically. When umps make bad calls he needs to take it all the way. Otherwise, he is doing a good job.
Are you crazy? The O's have enough going against them right now and you wanna see the Earl Weaver story again. Trembly isn't shy at all and his demeanor shows leadership. He knows all the umps from their minor league days and they respect him. You'll never see him make a fool of himself like Bobby Cox.
