Yeah, Trembley! NOT AFRAID to go against the book. Complete game for Cabrera last night. Has let the starters complete eight innings on a few other occasions. Bring up a young player from AAA, immediately make him a starter. Thirteen pitchers on the roster. A REAL manager!!!

I just read that this is the first time in EIGHT GAMES that the Orioles have had the game NOT decided by two runs, or less. We lost most of those eight games. If we can start winning half of those close games (two run differential or less) we can EASILY go 86-76.

Like I said in an earlier post, we won ONE GAME, and I feel like we won the World Series! It's GREAT being an Orioles fan! From 1971 American League Championship to the 1983 World Championship, to the 1988 worst team in the major leagues. EVERY WIN IS GREAT!!!

Bynum is not the long term answer at SS but there are no other choices within the organization right now.

I am very excited about the O's future. Trembley has shown he is the man in charge. The only thing I wish he would do more often is to get thrown out of games to put a spark in the team at times. He argues calls IMHO too diplomatically. When umps make bad calls he needs to take it all the way. Otherwise, he is doing a good job.

It was a pleasure to see bynum play shortstop and look comfortable. Luis looks scared out there and i am glad that dve made up his mind to make bynum the starter. I really though after watching luis play last year that he was going to be a great shortstop ,but it's just another case of somebody that had a chance not come through. Don't get me wrong bynum isn't the long term answer but he is head and shoulders above what we got. on the other side of the ledger brian roberts sure looks uncomfortable at the plate, you can see he doesn't want to be on this team. He usually works the pitchers but he is swinging at everything they throw up there. he has 26 strikouts compared to 18 walks, aand in the past that would have been turn around. Luke scott and millar are in a daze what a shame we don't get any production from guys that we though we would.

Obviously Bynum isn't the long term answer @ SS, but it was nice to have some stability out there last night. He was tested early and often, and he never faltered. He looked fully recovered, and it was good to see him play well. Bynum also sets the table nicely for Roberts batting ninth, as he's got a ton of speed. I'm just happy the Luis Hernandez experiment is over.

That's the only way you're going to feel as though you won the World Series; Beating the KC Royals.

Look, it's nice that you feel so good about one win, but reality has to catch up to you at some point.

This team is bad. The future is bleak. Sorry to break the news. Maybe you haven't noticed over the last 120 + months.

Stats Update:

Teams with fewer players signed to 2010 MLB contracts-------

None

The Baltimore Orioles have no one, zippo, zilch, nada, naught signed to a contract past next September (2009). That's only 15 months away.

And they tell you they are "rebuilding."

How, exactly, are they "rebuilding" if they have yet to commit to the first person on that team????! Yes, I know they'll retain the rights to Markakis, Jones, etc., but most of the hitters will be off contract after next season.

Since there is a drought of positional talent in the minors, the team is left with two choices:

1) A roster full of AAAA hitters and castoffs.

2) A repeat of the Huff, Millar, Payton signings with comparable talent.

They don't have much left to trade. I see a really awful team coming up soon. Really, really terrible.

Luis Hernandez has a good bat, but needs to work on his fielding, maybe he can replace Brian if he gets traded. Hernandez is only 23, let him get stronger, work on fielding and the O's will have a very valuable infielder.

Dave you made the right decision. Bynum needs some AB and Hernandez needs to sit

What?? Luis does not have a good bat, not even close. He's been abysmal throughout his minor league career, and just as bad in the majors. What is it about LH's career that makes you say he has a "good bat"?

So who would you like them to sign to a long term contract. Roberts wont do it what other hitter besides the one that we control do you feel deserves to be signed past 2010 at thsi point. No one yet until we see a little more out of Scott plus in the minors we have to have room for Wieters, Rowell and Terreo

Why would you sign people for the sake of signing people? there are no other contracts to 2010 becasue there's very few worthy! Huff, Mora, Hernandez, Payton, Millar - the sooner the contacts are up the better! I like Trembley - but there was no need to throw Hernandez under the bus like he just did. That will not play well in the clubhouse considering he is only 23 years old - of course he's tentative - he's never been a starting shortstop before. Some things should be kept to himself---we see the games and don't need him pointing fingers.

Maybe, maybe not. This kid, he just turned 28, can really do the job at shortstop and he also adds a lot of speed on the bases. Of course you can't steal first so it will come down to how consistent he hits. I would take about a .270 average with some stolen bases and be the gem in the field I know he has shown some last year and again last night.

I'm glad to hear there aren't a lot of guys signed through 2010. The key young players--Markakas and Jones--are locked in to the Orioles for several more years. As for the others, I expect that sometime before the end of this year you'll start seeing a lot of players receiving new contracts (several young pitchers, a handful of position players) while others will be allowed to fade away. MacPhail has shown patience and prudence thus far. He will invest in those players with potential and let the others go away all while relying on the minors to develop talent.

It finally feels as if this ship is sailing in the right direction.

Gary, tentative is just fine at Aberdeen or Delmarva. In the majors it doesn't cut it.

And I disagree that DT threw him "under the bus" when all he did was state the obvious, that the kid was not making the plays.
