Yes didn't they beat Florida St. last year? I think OSU will be fine with their defense but ya never know.

Hmmm, i don't think so, but they scored over 30 pts on UGA. Auburn hired their OC for 2008. Troy is just a very scrappy program. Troy also landed Kentucky Mr. Football for the upcoming season. 3-4 years ago they almost beat LSu in Baton Rouge. Obviosly they are not in the same league as LSU, but Troy isn't quite a cupcake imo.

Do you count Ohio State in that unravalling? The Buckeyes lost their second to last game of the season at home, but still managed to jump from #3 to #1.
Given that pre-BCS selection week, if #7 LSU beat you, imagine what #4 Georgia could have done.
> How bad did Tennessee beat Georgia? > That @ss whippin' the Vols put on the Bulldogs kind of slips my mind! LOL! > Georgia this and Georgia that! Give me a break. Hawaii and LSU are two different animals buddy! >:)

Actually, LSU lost their final regular season game, before beating Tennessee in the SEC Championship game.
Basically I was pointing out that after then #1 Missouri and #2 West Virginia lost, then #3 Ohio State and #4 Georgia - who had both finished their regular seasons and did not play on that weekend - were in position to move up to #1 and #2 respectively. Unfortunately it didn't pan out that way; Ohio State moved up to #1 and Georgia dropped down to #5 after LSU, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech had all won their conference championships.
Woulda, shoulda, coulda... it's all over with, LSU won the BCS Championship, and Ohio State finished off another great season with another conference championship.
You're right though; the system isn't fair, which is why so many college football fans want a playoff, so these types of arguments can be settled on the field.
> Playoffs in division-1 sounds great! > Whining about not being in the BCS NC game, when you can't even win your own division of your conference doesn't sound great.

To all you stiffs who hate the Bucks. LSU won because of our mistakes. The great Tigers beat a young team that was not even marked at the beginning of last season to make it to a BCS game--but we did, the championship. Bash the Big Ten if you will. But the truth is that our teams matched up well this year with SEC teams. Wisconsin, barely lost, Michigan manhandled the Gators, and OSU won in every aspect of the game except the score/turn over margin/favorable calls. But we Big Ten fans understand that SEC fans need a false sense of superiority to feel good about yourself. But one thing is certain about Big Ten fans--we don't cry, we multiply. We're in your towns, villages, cities and states. We're in your dreams. SEC could not exist if there was not an OSU and Big Ten. Go Bucks!

I have to agree, Art. UGA isn't like AU 2004 undefeated and legit in complaining. UGA played great ball at season's end, but they didn't even win the east. Case closed.

Yea, but they sure were looking good down the stretch. And that sucks that AU didn't get a shot in 2004 and to this day I still think they deserved a shot for the NC. Thats why they need a playoff. I'm thinking since USC already beaten the Tigers previously maybe they decided to put OU in there. Who knows. Hopefull they'll get it right if it happens again. As much as I hate seeing the SEC win it all, I hate it even more when a system is unfair, not giving a team a chance to prove itself.

simply put, osu beat themselves? well why does a player commit a holding penalty? because the defensive player is beating them on the line..why does a db commit a pass interfernce call? because the reciever has beat him in coverage....why does ohio state lose horribly to the sec the past two years? because they were overmatched. Like i said, good for michigan in beatin florida, fact is the SEC only lost 2 bowl games this season, thats pretty impressive, the SEC has the national title 3 times in the last 5 years, 03-lsu, 06-florida, 07-lsu.... i understand that the Big10 is a good confrence, but its time to sit back and realize that your are at best the 3rd best, they have a solid top 2 in michigan and osu, but they lack the depth, the SEC had 10 teams w/ 6 wins...meaning 10 bowl eligble...w/ only Vandy and Ole Miss missing the cut. And there are teams who barely win, Florida barely lost to Michigan, and LSU barely lost to Kentucky and Ark, and barely beat Auburn and you know the rest, but LSU played better competition then OSU, or Michigan, and in the end proved that they, and the SEC are #1 in the country. The sec finished 1-2 in the final poll, give it the props it deserves, two years in a row w/ a national title, w/ georgia gonna be right in the hunt for a 3rd in a row.

We need a playoff. AU was shafted because of preseason polls. USC and Oklahoma were preseason #1 and #2. They finished the regular season undefeated that year, but so did Auburn. We all know the system sucks. Maybe we will see a mini playoff by 2011.

Yes well a year can make a difference you can't not put a team in there because of a previous year. Auburn was much better that year than they were the previous year. I think it'd be much closer than Joklahoma (who got destroyed by K-state)

No my brother, I will agree that they played smart, took advantage of our stupid mistakes, coaching, but not better talent, better prepard, better offense (we outgained you), better defense (saw quite a few of your players limping off the field, Dorrsett is still hurting), I won't give LSU credit for 31 unanswered points, I gave that credit to our mistakes and coaching. But it really doesn't matter artie, we could go back and forth til the cows come home. When two teams who are ranked in the preseason #1 and #2 and they go undefeated they are most likely going to the NC. On occasion a team will slip and another will move up and with a crazy season like we just had we need that playoff. We won't be having arguments like why didn't Georgia get a shot at the NC or even USC. And going back to 2004 Auburn played a very good Tennesse team in the SEC championship game while Oklahoma played a mediocre Colorado team. OU played sum decent teams but I think Auburn played tough teams to especially in their championship game.

We'll agree to disagree my friend...its all good, my Buckeyes need to work on the following, disipline & coaching. Fix those areas and the Buckeyes will be unstoppable. All but one junior gave up going to the NFL, we are in the top 4 in recruiting and raising. Even have one of your own Mike Brewster out of GA as a starter, took him from the SEC. Like I say all the time, if you SUPERTEAMS won your games like you were supposed to we would have gone to the Rose Bowl and slapped Joes team around..best to you, talk to you soon! Of course you can't put a team in despite what happened the previous year.
And wasn't that the same K-State who OSU steamrolled in the Fiesta Bowl. And they had a very good QB and that little running back they had could fly down the field. People seem to forget who OSU beat in recent bowl games.

Yea, I don't think it was that LSU was the better team, they just happened to take advantage of our mistakes. I'm not taking any credit away from LSU or trying to make excuses but OSU made a lot of mistakes and your not gonna win a game making five personal fouls and other stupid penalties. And that punt OSU blocked ended going right back to the Tigers. If OSU played that way against Kent State they would have had a chance at beating them. I don't care how good a team is, making those kind of penalties OSU made will definitely give the other team an advantage. Anyway, I'm not trying to take the focus away from LSU bc they played a heck of a game. Go Bucks!!!
