Just be thankful you had a grandfather. Remember that and other good things. 83 is a well lived life. I dont think any male in my family has made it that old. My grandma who is 86 says she has been on borrowed time since her mother died at 87 15 years ago in 1993. She had my grandma at fifteen and was married at 13. Thats the way they did it in the appalacians. He is in a better place seeing all of his old friends and old family members. Every question he ever had in his mind right now is being awnsered.

I never knew either of mine, both died very young, and our daughters only knew my dad for the first few years of their lives. bless you and your family.'Mom'

Thank you for your kind words: much appreciated! I'm very grateful to have been in his presence on many occasions. He died peacefully and wasn't in any pain, thank God. It's hard to see him go, but - sorry to be cliche here - death is an inevitable part of life. Looking forward to exchanging more posts when I return. Later...

I'm thankful that I knew him and that I have a strong family; my grandmother has been incredible throughout this whole difficult time, but she's always been strong. My other grandfather died last year while I was deployed, but I was fortunate to have known him too. Bless you and yours as well; we'll talk up some CFB when I get back.
