Larry Bird has never been lousy. He coached a few years like he said he would...and did fine. He then managed the Pacers and they did well. Agree that most underestimate the real work that goes into being an executive...Isaiah is lousy...not sure what is charm is.

Wow you have not gotten over Shaq leaving in 13 years? Is your heart still broken? Let it go and move on. And anyone that thinks Otis has done a great job is...lying. Was it a month ago when the trade deadline passed and everyone bashed him or how about his amazing draft selections. Fran Vasques? Shaq & Hill should try to own the Magic, but wanting to come back and help in any way possible should be accepted. They would draw attention much like Jordan did in Wash & Charlotte. You people are probably the same one that when someone appologizes you stay mad at them for another day. GROW UP! Maybe Hill for GM and Shaq for community relations like Nick Anderson is now even after he was ripped apart 11 years ago in the media of this town. Bianchi writing this article shows that not much has changed....at the Sentinel.
Yeah a really great idea. MJ has benn such a HUGE success as an executive.
Why don't you go watch Nick Satan at spring practice ane keep your nose out of O'town sports?

I really enjoyed this article and the thought of Shaq coming back to our " Dried up little pond" made me shutter. I had no idea he had these kind of plans and hope he eventually forgets about them. Otis is doing a really great job here and I hope he doesn't go anywhere anytime soon!

Bianchi, did you get out all your venom in this article? Let's be realistic here, Shaq is a big name in basketball and he adds a cache wherever he goes. He won several championships in LA and one in Miami. He's the kind of guy that will be able to cajole free agents into coming to Orlando, maybe even D-Wade.
Grant is a smart businessman and would do well in the front office.
I can only hope that they could find a way to buy the entire franchise from these nitwit owners who don't know the difference in a basketball team and a boy scout troop. As for our GMs...puhleease. Show me one current or former Magic GM that was a standout in the league and I'll eat my hat.
Yes to Shaq and Hill.
BTW, I understand Otis did not want Hill back, which is what most fans don't know.
What series were watching a couple of years ago? Dwyane Wade beat the Mavericks, not Fat Daddy.

There are 2.5 teams in the east. Boston, Detriot, and .5 Cleveland. You can't beat Atlanta and almost lost to Miami. Come on, he took you to you to your 1 and only final. And if Nick wouldn't have missed those free throws and kill the momentum, you might have your 1 and only final. Go to L. A.(win), go to MIA (win), go to Phoenix (will win). Get a clue!!!!
I hope you and all of these other clowns know that denial will cause an early grave.

"Go to MIA (win)" The only reason that big fat slob got a ring in Miami is Dwyane Wade won it for him.

You all seem to forget if he has part ownership, there's not a lot anyone can do about it. But if it does happen, I gaurantee that his ability thru his personality will be able to attract big name players would be worth its weight in gold. You all also seem to forget that he wasn't run out of town by the media...the Magic underbid the Lakers twice when in fact the "Larry Bird" rule was in effect. For those of you who don't know what that is...it states that if a player is on a team for more than three years, that team is allowed to re-sign that player for ANY amount and it wouldn't count towards that salary cap. So it wasn't a luxury tax deal. Back then, he was just reaching his prime and for ownership and mgmt to not at least match what the Lakers offered would be a slap in the face to any working man. Imagine you at your current job and your competitor offers you the same job at twice the salary. Your current job finds out about it and still doesn't match it...you bolt period! So get off your whiney wagons, wipe the snot off your noses and watch your team get smashed by Detroit in the playoffs.
I don't remember the final spread between the total contract values offered by the Lakers and Orlando, but I don't think is was significantly more than The Big Fat Slob would have paid in state income tax in California.

Just say no. No to all those folks who feel that Shaq/Hill leadership in anything would be a good thing. If somehow Shaq actually wants this would be pretty suprising to me. He threw Hill's name in the hat because between both of them, they doomed the Magic for over a decade. One for abandoning ship and the other for not taking command of the ship in the first place. Shaq's ego just needs pattying and by writting the column and our reactions he is getting his way. So Shaq I hope you enjoy your headlines once again, but again JUST SAY NO!
As for the so called fans of these two players who believe that this is a good idea and that we should bow down to these men again, have your basketball team hire this tandem. I am a fan of the Orlando Magic, not some of the egomaniacs that have played for our little pond town. I look at it this way...respect and loyalty is earned, neither of these two showed either. If I were going to trust anyone who doesn't have the experience to do a job, and give them a chance, then they had better have given a damn in the first place and had those two qualities as individuals. So again...JUST SAY NO!!!

You guys wouldn't be yelling at Shaq for leaving if he won you guys a championship like he did for LA and Miami.

Whiners.

Your team sure could use a Shaq right now.. I'm sure he's as "washed up" as 70% of the ESPN users thought.

This also proves that 70% of ESPN users are fairly stupid, too.

Guys get over it,, orlando management should have just given shaq his money and he would have stayed,, he did the right thing by leaving orlando and won 3 straight championships,, instead of blaming shaq why dont you blame the sentinel for forcing shaq out.
