Without Jenks, White Sox survive Royals

The day the White Sox placed closer Bobby Jenks on the 15-day disabled list, Scott Linebrink blew a save in the 11th inning, but the White Sox recovered in the 13th and beat the Kansas City Royals 8-7 on ...

AND THIS GAME IS OVA!!!

First things first, Alexei Ramirez!!! Just when you think he's done it all. This guy plays with heart and the SOX organization is damn lucky to have him on the squad.

Secondly, WTF is up with Linebrink? He had a shaky finish his last outing, so today was no surprise. Ultimately we played catch up because Contreras didn't have it today. CQ didn't help the cause. He went like 1-5?? OC is getting it done. I think Ozzie invited him over for dinner and they smoothed things out. The guy is a spark in the line up. Oh and Thome was 4-5 with 2 doubles. We'll give him a few more games like that before we officially say he's back.

All in all it was a rough game but we'll take the W.

Ugly game. A lot of things went wrong. Luckily the Royals stink.

A win is a win.....even if it was ugly. Can't complain since the Sox got a game on the twins. Linebrink needs to be left as the set up man because its obvious he can't handle the closer job. Thornton should be able to the 9th until Jenks comes back.

Wood marginal? He's an All Star! LOL!!!
Not being a cheerleader here but I'd have to agree with Dragon, Wood is a marginal player. Clearly he's not what he used to be. Go post on your win in flubbie land.

Ugly win, but we'll take it. I agree with Nate: Linebrink can set up, but he cannot close. I just hope Jenks comes back soon. I agree with South Side, too: Alexei Ramirez is brilliant, exactly what we need in a line-up that generally relies heavily on power. Now, while the Twins are struggling with Boston, let's go on a nice little run and expand that 2.5 game lead. Go White Sox!

Dragon, just wanted to add something about Jenks. He hasn't thrown 99 mph since two years ago. He's become more of a pitcher lately, focusing more on location than trying to blow it past hitters with his heater. I'm just hoping your prediction is wrong because he is the best option the Sox have as a closer.

The Sox should have dumped Uribe. Osuna is more valuable for his speed and depth at positions. Sox wasted 4.5MM on Juan. They need all the money,so they can sign Crede. Sox will be ion playoffs in Oct., more than I can say for the Chubbies!!

Agreed. Linebrink doesn't appear to have the 'balls' to handle it as a relief pitcher, at least not right now.
Here's another vote to try Thornton or even Russell in that role. Given the uncertainty with Jenks's injury, they need to find out who else is 'closing material' now!
It's a shame to be losing Ozuna instead of Uribe. A bad decision IMHO!(Couldn't 'THEY' have just waited until Jenks came back??) I hope it doesn't come back to haunt OG & KW!

Tonight's game was the Sox version of 'The Perils of Pauline' with the desired outcome!
Lucky they're playing KC and NOT the A's again!

Did anyone follow this game on Yahoo! last night? I was at work, and I swear I saw a final of 5-4 Royals. What a great way to finish off a long night!

As of 7:49AM Eastern, Yahoo! has this box score completely mangled. In the play-by-play, after nine innings, it shows the Sox leading 8-7, and then goes into the 10th...I think I need another beer.

Oh-vah!

Ugly.

What day is it?

The exact second Darrin Jackson announced Jenks to the DL, Linebrink started tanking again. SOMEBODY tell Liney that he'll never need to close again! And somebody tell Jackson there's a time and a place to announce that your closer is going on the DL. At least we get stoney on TV next year.

What's up with Bobby? Didn't think our achilles heel would be biting us before the 2nd half even started.

Did the Cuban Missle show up on the radar at Buckley AFB?

Think Switcher will make web-gems?

Wheezie Dee = Our chief thief

Crede and Thome coming out of the deep freeze. Lookin good.

The Ozuna decision = another Pa-blo to the team

The only other good thing about this win is keeping all the twink fans awake just to dash their hopes. Konichiwa b****es!

Between watching the game and spinning out Jermaine votes, I was whupped.
