I remember when Kane County Cougars played at wrigley, in which that game was sold out. Just proves its not the cubs.
You can have a Donkey show at wrigley and it would sell out. Nobody truely cares about the sox, hence why majority of cubs fans couldnt even name their roster.
No get the facts straight they had close to 30,000 people, last I checked they can hold 41,104. GAS U GONE!!!!!!

Today is August 20th, 2008. Four more homers from the Big Boppers of the Southside. Mercy. The White Sox and Cubs are STILL in first place. Double your pleasure and double your fun in Chicago this season. Life is good.

Pleasssse you ac like the Sox are the NY Yankees with mutiple series titles>>> LOL. 1 Series, let me spell it for you just ONE. so far good news is that the series in 05 was not fixed like 1919. When the Cubs win 1 series what will be your excuse be?
Then act like you know something!..the Sox have 3 WS Titles in 5 WS appearences. The cubs have 2 titles in 8 WS appearences. No excuses, they just won't win! and that is a fact, has been since 1945!

Real baseball people want a glimse of the future.
Thats why you come on these boards, so you can catch a glimpse of a real baseball team.

Listening to a Cub fan talk about "Real Baseball" is like listening to a blind man talk about driving a car. Should they have both HEARD about it, but neither has actually ever seen it!!!

Go Sox!!!

Griffey hit all those home runs with out being on the juice like Sosa was. Oh yeah Sosa used a cork bat too. They should take Sosa's name of the list. This Sox team looks great. All except for Konerko. Time to sit him for good. He can't field or hit. Can't wait to see Tampa this weekend. Should be a good series.

anyone notice how Junior buckled when he hit the homerun? i agree with the other post that the only thing griffey has done is jump start konerko. maybe that was the point of the his acquisition.
He twisted his ankle on the swing. How he still hit it out I don't know.

Meaning what brainiac?

That the Cubs are an up an coming team?

They're basically the same team as the Sox. Not an old team but certainly not a young team. A power hitting lineup with no team speed. Average defense. Cubs infield has a better fielding % but less range. Outfield defense is about even. Solid pitching. The only place the Cubs have an edge is consistancy.

And I couldn't care less about attendance. I don't own the club and I don't share in its profits. Not sure why anyone cares about how many people support each team.

What kills me is that Cub fans finally have a chance to brag about the product on the field and all they do is talk sillyness.

2005 is ancient history but 1919 is pertinent? I believe it's been discovered that the Black Sox team may have been following the lead of the 1918 Cubs.

Say it ain't so!

I am glad the Cub's 38 yr old and can still play some defense. It is sad just after winning the series 3 years ago that the SOX have to sign Griffey as a Marketing strategy just to bring some fans into the park.
They would have been better off putting the team in a location in suburbia so we can get to the game under 4 hrs.

Cubs are good this year, but they have NO bragging rights in this town until they win the WORLD SERIES.

Oops! I may have misread this post. I thought that the senator from Northbrook was referring to this years Cub team, not the Star Studded Peoria Chiefs. I also think it was to see Ryno. Talk about living in the past.

Yeah that 1919 team really bothers me. Ha. Who cares. Most fans like me love the fact that the team stuck it to the owner. Think about it. Throwing a world series because you hate the owner. That is honor. It's like the Boston tea party. They just couldn't take it anymore. Those 8 men all need statues for being great Americans and helping the great labor union movement in this country.
But what is real funny is that Wrigley Field can draw 30,000 people for a minor league game. It just shows you that you can put a 16 inch softball team out there and the drunks will come to watch it at that park. The Sox rule this city.

Don't forget this is the same Perioa Chiefs that had a player arrested for striking a fan with a ball...granted the brain surgeon was tryin to hit the opposing teams dugout and MISSED from 20 ft away!...ohh yeah them cubs sure are drafting quality major leaguers alright!

Alexei Ramirez is a stud. He comes here, barely makes the team, and now he's batting .310, hitting home runs, loading up his RBIs, and playing great D. Kenny Williams really deserves some kudos for the job he's done this year. Quentin and Ramirez alone should get him executive of the year. Let's hope the hitting continues and the pitching can hold up and we should be in the Series.

I don't get it. I, for one, am looking forward to an L train world series. Two first place teams. One city. How much better can a summer get? Who cares how they get there or what type of team they are as long as they each win the pennant! Can you imagine the pre-series pep rallies in the loop? We can break in the Channel 2 TV at Block 37/Daley Plaza monitor in the right way!

I don't think it's going to matter what the Sox do when they go to the trash bag to finish the season. We should have more than a 4 game lead on the Twinks by then. This road trip coming up is going to wipe them out. I like this Tampa team but it is payback time for the Sox. Show em no mercy.

Agreed, its time to light them up!, and if the Carmines keep losin games the Wild Card will come outta the Central which would change the Playoffs completely!. Meaning these games against the Rays could be a foreshadowing of things to come!
