THE JUDGE.
A computer tech has every right to invade a computer. The computer does not belong to him it belongs to the university. The university monitors and can watch every thing you do their computers. the computer was borught in to be fixed because it was not working correctly. In order to trouble shoot a problem with a computer you have to "invade" a computer to diagnos a problem. Most likey those picture had a virus and the virus led them one of those files and that how they found it.
What most likely happened was that he got on some porn site that infected his computer with a virus and shut everything down. Being an idiot, he turned it over to the IT Dept who quickly neutralized the virus and found all of the kiddie porn. As an IT professional for major corporation, I see it 2-3 times a year. We quietly terminate the individual so that we are not found to be liable.

How sad that you troll a CRIME to make it into a "my team is better than your team" kind of thing. It must make your day to see a crime reported at UM. Do you have the police scanners set to the UM cops, just for thrills?

Obviously your reading and cognitive skills are lacking, there is absolutely nothing in his comments related to defending child porn. Actually neither the words "defend", "child", or "porn" are even contained within the text of his comments.

You sure do spend alot of your time on UM related message boards. I see your posts on every single UM related Sun Sentinel forum spewing the same lame rhetoric. For a team you obviously despise so much, you sure do devote alot of your time and attention on a daily basis to it.

That's because he's a TROLL with no life. He gets his jollies riling you up. He probably posts under a dozen different aliases on Topix to get his jollies by stirring the pot.

Just ignore the immature little twerp and he'll go away. His punishment is being a pathetic waste of carbon who gets his jollies by making people upset.

We can write policy until our fingers fall off. HR can make it punishable by termination. Yet office users are still drawn to porn sites like moths to a flame.

I've been an IT manager for many years, and I too have seen many good employees get the axe because they couldn't suppress their carnal desires at work. I never have been able to figure out why folks can't just wait until they get home to look at that stuff. They sign the HR policy sheets explicitly telling them they'll be fired if they get caught looking at porn on company time and with company assets.

I've been asked over and over again, by many a VP, why we cannot simply block access to it. The answer is always the same: there are simply too many sites to get them all. You cannot restrict--only monitor, which we do.

Why on Earth these folks sincerely believe that they won't get caught doing it is completely beyond me. We _tell_ them that if they do it, they're _going_ to get caught. We do catch them _all,_ sooner or later. We monitor the routers, audit the sites visited by everyone on a regular basis, and we sweep hard drives at regular intervals. No Big Brother here--as you indicated before, we simply don't want to get caught up in a sexual harassment suit.

Unlike your organization, however, if someone gets caught with their ding dong in the cookie jar, as it were, we do not do it quietly. If anyone asks, I say they were let go for violation of the company's IT policy. It doesn't take folks long to figure out what I mean. Know what I mean?

Heh... The penis wants what it wants. I see it too. Never ceases to amaze me.

Oh yeah. There's no way. New porn sites spring up every day. It's too bad, too, because, as you well know, a number of them execute nasty code that at best puts obnoxious porn pop-ups all over the place, and at worst turns your machine into a SpamBot. I encourage my users to use Firefox and not use Internet Explorer because the porn sites are so good at exploiting it.

I was involved in an investigation where one employee was actually e-mailing explicit material to a female co-worker, and she came to the upper echelon and myself and threatened to sue the company if he wasn't made to stop. As he was a member of upper-management himself, it took three or four instances before our department vice president finally booted him out the door. My instructions were to get ironclad proof that it was this guy doing the deed, and that whatever I got would hold up in court. I did, and it did.

We have a number of fairly large clients what would be upset to see bad press. So unfortunately, while I'd like to circulate their picture in the company newsletter, we have to handle these sorts of affairs with a healthy degree of discretion.

Hey I didnt make them do it. I am just watching the pictures. I got them off the net. So what nobody is getting hurt, shot or killed.
I take my PC to best buy and some nerds find my pictures.
I didnt tell them to go looking around my PC these pictures where hidden inside 2 folders nammed file5695.
Why would they look in there? I just wanted to upgrade my RAM Memory and a new video card.
Long story short I am now down 15k in attorney fees trying to fight this rap. I got framed. This was an ilegal search. They call me and tell me my PC is ready, when I show up 3 detectives arrest me and take my PC. Best Buy then charges my credit card for the upgrades **** I want my rights back. Now I may face 3 years in prison, 5 years probabation and sex offender status for ever?
...dont be stupid. you bring your computer in to a repair place with stuff on it thats illegal, of course your going to get nailed. Dont bring it in if you dont want to get busted. You got what you deserved. Friggin sicko...

You should go to jail for not being smart enough to upgrade your own ram and video card...

As you vote Democrat in November, realize that this will be the party that eventually argues that pedophilia is innate and genetically controlled as they are trying with homosexuality.
Then they will try to decriminalize pedophilia as it is the person's nature, not a criminal act. Then they will try to normalize adult/child relations and make it illegal to discriminate against kiddie-touchers.
Or not. But you be the judge.
Here go the cubans again, demonizing the Democrat party. So JFK left you hanging at the Bay of Pigs...get over it! Republicans have been in the white house for 20 of the last 30 years, and papa Fidel still there! right were YOU left him!

I'm next to positive you responded to the wrong post, so I won't hit you with the obvious reply that child porn is a little worse than Castro.

Instead, I'll offer this plan: We reinstitute the draft, but make it only for Cubans. Then we attack Cuba and overthrow the ruthless dictator. Next we occupy Cuba for a hundred years with the same troops. We'll probably only need two million to do the job, and we should accept men, women and children.

And BTW, after the initial attack, we cut off the military paychecks and benefits, send some "private American contractors" over to build resorts and casinos and let the Cuban "troops" work for them.

Sounds pretty win/win, don't ya think?
