Give me a break...comparing this trade to the Herschel Walker trade is just idiotic. We gave away multiple #1s, multiple #2s, multiple #3s, and not to mention the number of players we got rid of as well. To compare this trade to that is just borderline retarded.
Sure we gave up alot but if you take a look at what picks were taken by KC at our spots...
OG Branden Albert
RB Jamaal Charles
S DaJuan Morgan
I think if you said I'll trade you these 3 guys for arguably the best DE in the league...I think you take it. If you want to see a team build within and never makes moves to put them over the top go ahead and watch the Twins and Wild play that way.
Atleast we have one owner in this city who is willing to attempt to put their team over the hump.
Good call brother...the only thing you forgot to mention is that Adrian Peterson would have already been traded for some more draft picks if it was Smith or Riesbrough running the Vikes.

Hey Gary, I know a closet Pack-it-in fan when I see one. Take your drivel somewhere else.

Prediction: Vikings - 13-3; Aaron Rogers - at least two concussions :-) HA!

Congrats on your yearly Paper Championship.
Why would the Bears fans say that about the Vikings? How many times have the Bears made the playoffs the last 15 years? How about the Vikings? Shoot, forget about playoffs even, how about comparing winning seasons? Why don't we just go ahead and name you Gary Anderson - like his FG attempt against the Falcons, your attempt at talking trash is wide left my friend.

Comparing the Herchel Walker trade to the Jared Allen trade is asinine, very little similarities.
Why don't you just admit to being a packer fan?
The stupidity gives you away.
Well said.

Lions are improving every year under Marinelli.

Bears are stagnate...pretty much a coin flip.

Packers are good, but take a big step backwards with Rodgers running the show.

Vikings look like the top contender.

But with all that said, there's a reason they call it the 'black and blue' division.

ANCIENT -(are you describing yourself or the crusty old Pack-it-in OL with your handle?), why don't YOU post football and mind your own business.

SENSE - see above. The only reason your Pink Powder Pack went 13-3 is because of a certain future Hall-of-Flamer who makes plays like nobody's business (until that fateful, final toss into the hands of a Giant – Whaaahaaahaa!). Won't be happening this year.

Not a good 13-3? The last time I checked, 13-3 was better than 8-8.

Mr. Jensen, I believe it was after Week 5/6 and until Week 17, Ryan Grant had the most rushing yards in the NFL.

As one of your own fans said, it is getting sickening to hear the Minnesota press claim year after year the Vikings are the top team in the North. Heck, it is said when KQ even says the same thing.

Ok fans. Go back a year and look at the media reports about the Vikings and Packers. You'll see the same kind of predictions... the Vikings on top of the division, with the Packers far behind. I'm not buying it anymore...
For me, the Jared Allen trade is reminicent of the Hershell Walker trade. With Walker, we gave away our future to Dallas and propelled them into the super bowl. We just did the same thing with Kansas City, by giving them all our picks in the draft. The Vikings had 5 picks, with only 1 in the first 4 rounds. KC gets 12 picks, with 2 first rounders, and 7 picks in the first 4 rounds... no doubt the best performance in the draft by any team. And, just like it was with Dallas and Walker, the media in this town has jumped on the bandwagon, and covered up what is another huge debacle.
As for Green Bay, and the retirement of Favre, I think that Rodgers will do much better than the media in this town expects, because many QBs that have learned behind Favre in the past have been successful in the NFL... Hasselbeck with Seattle, Detmer with the Eagles, Brooks with New Orleans, and Brunell with Jacksonville, to name a few. I predict another 8-8 finish for the Vikings, far behind the Packers.

Without a doubt it is better but there is a difference between 13-3 in the weak NFC North and weak NFC as opposed to a good 13-3 like it would be in the AFC or even the NFC East! The Pack was a 10-6 team last year but was able to go 13-3 due to other circumstances which are beyond their control. They are not better this year than last and if you believe Favre is great, they only got worse this season.

Jerami,
I now see that you meant to say O-line. What you actually typed was "Offensive didn't need improving..." Misunderstanding. Anyway, I disagree, and I think that the O-line did needed to be addressed - especially since McKinney may be missing time this season. I think we may be in trouble if he is missing or if we suffer even one injury on the O-line.
I definitely agree with your take on the WR's taking pressure off of Jackson. This will be key!
If you read my posts, I never said that Rodgers is better than Tarvaris. We don't know one way or the other. I just found it ridiculous to state that the "Vikings are better off at QB." The facts are that Jackson has been below average at best, and nobody has really seen Rodgers play. The unfortunate thing is that the Vikes don't have a plan B if Jackson fails to show up in his third year.
All of you guys are losers!!! You all need to get some women in your lifes, I really feel sorry for all of you... Grown men shouldn't speculate about other grown men, you guys are probably the people who wear jerseys proudly out in public....really sad

All the Packers did was improve on a team that went 13-3 last year.
You are minimzing the loss of a QB with 18 years experience and nearly indestructable. Rodgers is not battle tested. And all their other good players on offense cannot help is they cannot replace Favre. It could take the Packers 20 minutes to replace Favre or twenty years.

For all Packer and Viking fans.... Just wake up and bow down to the 2009 Super Bowl Champion Washington Redskins!!! Not only tried and tested, but will dominate a real talented division unlike the joke of the NFL the NFC north where a 9-7 record will win the division....whoops too much to drink....

Ignore my previous post. Seriously, the Vikings are going to be a majopr challenger this year. I think last year, the major concern was the pass defense. OK yes the offense needs to improve, to keep the defense off of the field, but by picking up Allen, the Vikings will be able to not only contain but dominate opposing QBs. Hopefully by getting to the quaterback more often pressure will be taken off of the secondary. And I dont think you will see anyone running on the Vikes this year. Not even Clinton Portis, should they even meet.

The Giants are hoping to play the hackers 10 times a year just to pad that win column.

It looks like the Vikings are poised to rule the NFC North. If TJ can do the job, good ole Gus can and John David Booty has the tools and pedigree to be a force in the future. With a great defense, all the ofense has to do is manage the ball and the clock with AD and Taylor and they will do just fine! GO VIKINGS!!

No other professional league has parity like the NFL does. Every year there is one or two very good teams and one or two very poor teams. The rest are mostly on an equal footing. Look at most football games and you'll see they were decided on one or two plays. Even some games that appear lopsided come down to a turnover or 3 and therefore changing the entire outcome. I don't think the Purple is one of the very good or very bad teams so it all comes down to a couple of plays, turnovers and momentum.

You guys are all dumb trying to have a pissing match. The full team training camps didn't even start yet and you're fighting on who's gonna be better. How about you wait for all the injuries to come through, and court appearances with McKinney before you start argueing. You are all retarded to fight on the internet. Last year was 13-3 for GB and 8-8 MN. End of that story. Next year is next year, who knows...maybe AR gets hurt, maybe AP gets hurt again, they both sound injury prone to me.
