A-Rod's homer in ninth passes instant replay test

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - It almost seems fitting. The first use of instant replay in Major League Baseball was to confirm a long home run hit by Alex Rodriguez - the man who one day could hold the all-time home ...

Too little to late, A-Rod is the king of the non-clutch homerun. Time to "mail it in" the party is over for the Yanks. But I am sure Newsday and everyother paper will make this 2 game winning streak a media circus with nothing but praise for beating up on the Rays, they may even make this out to be a full blown comeback wtih playoff hopes and then who knows, we can have Wallace and Brokeback write articles about how they are going to win the world series.

John Sterling and Suzan Waldman are ready to hand out playoff ticket wrist bands. See you in 2009. Maybe Joba can play RF on days he is being limited in his pitch count ?

Dont these so called official scorers know that these are major league fielders not high school players out there.I have never seen so many so called"hits"that are actually errors, especially during yankees games I'll bet that 10% of Jeters"infield hits"were really errors this year.I think retired players should be scorers, providing that they dont have ties with teams playing !

I'm for replay to get it right.

But that was pretty obvious I thought.

Waste of time in my opinion, like baseball isn't slow and boring enough

I couldn't believe that Tampa hadn't lost consecutive games since before the All-Star break.

He drove in half their runs last night and blew open the game, which saved Mo from having to take the pill.

Ok- His numbers in the "clutch" are down for the year. The team batting average with RISP has to be below .200. A-Rod hit well with RISP last year. He has plenty of time to lift the Yankees to WS title 27. He WILL get it done!!

I think he's been hitting homers all yr. hasn't he? A two-run double or HR in the 3rd. inn. counts the SAME!!! I don't care when he hits, just so he produces over the season!!! Probably the best 5-tool player in the game. Plays under more scrutiny than anyone!!! Not a team in BB would turn down services of A-Rod. Bosox not going to win it all this yr. Angels much better. What is Boston now? 2 for 90 yrs???
