40, I was previously corrected on this, see my above comments.
By the way, I would like to add that even if they did get Tony, I am not confident that Childress would properly utilize him.
I tend to agree with you.

If you're Childress, you're happy that you lucked into 2 wins (Saints should have won Monday and the Lions should have won Sunday). They are playing better than the Bears--who should be 6-0 were it not for their troubles defensively--and the Packers--who have had to earn every bit of their 3 wins. That said, the schedule is not favorable.

They still have to play Atlanta and Tampa (both will be fighting for playoff positioning), Jacksonville (which will be doing the same), the Bears and Packers (whom Childress is 0-for against), and the Cardinals (who, at 4-2 and 2 games ahead of San Francisco) is a better football team than in years past. The other thing that has to concern you is this team doesn't win unless the defense scores. It was 2 points yesterday, and Winfield's 2 TDs in victories over Carolina and the Saints that proved to be the difference.

Yes, so sorry, I missed the earlier correction.
Like Arch stated, Jimmy K. got his name called, and he picked up a bunch of yards. Tony can still play, probably not very much longer though.
Nearly 400 yards of offense only resulted in 12 points, why? Turnovers.
Childress went away from Shank-O, or Gus did, but it was a good move. Berrian showed some belated promise, when is Williams supposed to get back into the secondary to make his Viking debut?

Why isn't Childress running A.P. to the outside? Seems like every one of his runs is between the tackles. What that creates is a bunch of hits on the ball in traffic. No wonder he fumbles so much. FIRE CHILLY!

I share your concern with the pressure on the D to score, or create turnovers in the opponents territory to score. However, I think that it is a trademark of the D, especially this year, given the personel they have up front. Turnovers are generally most often created when the QB is getting pressured.

One point I would like to make, and it is just my opinion, is that officiating gaffes, turnovers, defensive lapses, etc. is apart of the game and is actually quite common and generally evens out in the end. Yes the officiating has greatly helped the Vikings win two games but I am also confident that they will be a big factor in costing a game or two in the future, if not already (Packers, Colts).

Yeah, good call on the lack of points bit. Turnovers and sacks were the obvious culprit in scoring only 12 points. I just think back to last week's game. Like the Vikings, the Saints had a boatload of yards but turnovers and penalties killed them - they only scored 13 points offensively.

I like what we are starting to see from Berrian, two hundred yard games in a row, albeit against crappola Defenses, but he even was a dropped ball away from having a 100+ yard game against the Titans. Hopefully he continues to produce, because other than Wade, no one else is showing ability at this point.

This was a trap game, any savvy bettor knew that the Vikes would have a had a hard time covering the spread, let alone winning outright. Give the Lions some credit for this one, they had been living through a four loss season, the firing of the GM and listening to the mob wanting to get rid of the Coach (sound familiar?) They wanted this one more than the Vikes who were coming off a short week of practice due to the Monday game last week. You take the breaks when they come to you, and the last two games we were getting them. You don't get style points, it's not figure skating. The dump Childress thing has a life of it's own now and maybe the owners will agree to fire him sooner than later, but believe me, whomever we get won't give us a sudden improvement, it will take time.

I think Madieu is supposed to be ready against the Texans - but I wonder how long it will take him to get back to playing speed?

Folks, haven't you figured it out, Zygi is brilliant. If he can find a way to move the Vikings to LA the value of the team increases by a quick half billion dollars or so. Thats a $B boys and girls. However, if the movers and shakers in Minny build him a stadium the NFL will never let him move. So how NOT to get a stadium built? Lose but look good doing so. Here's how - spend some money on high profile free agents and let the PR people make you look good to both fans and league - but don't break the bank in the process. Hire a coach who could turn a Super Bowl winner into a sub .500 team in a single season to assure disappointment among the fan base - read politicians. Presto - Zygi and the Vikes are outta here after 2011. So far the plan is right on schedule!

Hey Childress, during the game when Ferotte was getting killed in the fist half thanks to impart with Ryan Cook, maybe you should "Tweak" OL by inserting Hicks at the RT spot.
Don't forget to rip on Ryan Cook in the media like you did to Chris Klewe....

A win is a win or is it? I really hate to keep bashing my favorite team but, this team is terrible. No one on this team seems to be a leader and the coaching staff seems clueless on how to use the talent on the team. lets see how it plays out and what the record is at the end of the year but those of us who have watched football for years already know that this team sucks

the vikings should seriously consider going out and getting tony gonzalez, he would bring a consistent tight end into the picture. i mean when Visanthe Shiancoe even catches the ball i am scared because this gives him the opportunity to screw it up. also this would give more stability to the offense the defenses would have to actually pay attention to four players now, berrian, wade, which ever RB is in, and then gonzalez. i dont really care about this win however u do it is fine we just need to get the offense rolling along like last year because it is the opposite of last year the defense is keeping us in games not the offense

What do Childress, Bevell and all other coaches associated with the offense do all week? They never add any wrinkles to their vanilla, Big Ten playbook!! Except for the occasional gadget play. Dammit man, wake up! The defense cannot keep winning games every week by themselves. That was one of the worst displays of offensive, NFL football I have ever witnessed without weather being a factor! I love the Vikings but hate this conservative, predictable offense they roll out every week! Especially, with one of, if not the greatest, RBs in the league never being utilized to his potential. All I ask for as a lifelong Viking fan, is that the coaches do the best job of preparing the players to "play to win the game". Instead of playing "not to lose the game"!!!!!!! Oh yeah, PLEASE bench Ryan(soon to be short-order)Cook before he does anymore harm.

The only reason I had for this and I know it a stretch but Chilli might have been thinking if they can score a touchdown and extra point they'd be up by six and that would force Detroit to score a touchdown and make the extra point.
It's a stretch

At the beginning of the season, I stated Wilf signs folks just to keep them from other teams...he did it IMO with the Child as well. He didn't want him to go to GB, so he overpaid him. But like has been stated here 3-3 isn't a losing season, no matter how the wins were achieved, so he won't be going anywhere right now...

I've been a viking fan for a very long time. Our biggest problem is the play calling and QB situation. I still say we made a mistake when Moss and Culpeppper were let go. We should have kept Culpepper and let Childress go. The play calling has been horiffic. They need peterson on the field on third downs, we need a dependible TE another WR would help. I could go on. Why not bring Culpepper back, he would be a vast improvement and may be able to help TJ. The last two games were won because officials blew calls in the end letting the vikes get lucky. In the end let's find a new coach.

I agree that AP needs to get the ball more. It seems like three and out all the time. Our defense is always on the field. Give-em some rest, keep the offense on the field. put peterson and taylor in the same backfield. Throw the ball to the backs more.
