Funny!
Are you going to ride the sub-way to the game, dress in your orange and black? ---------- As a communist, I believe everyone should ride public transportation. And since I don't own any personal property, I believe no one else should have personal property. |

The only way to stop a stalker is to expose them in public. You have been following me for more than three months, from the NY Daily News, to the Indianapolis Star, to the Baltimore Sun. You ALWAYS follow me, you ALWAYS wait for an opportunity to make fun of me. STALKER! STALKER! STALKER! |

Before the season started, I thought the Orioles would lose 110 games. A few weeks age I actually thought they could be a 500 team. Now, with their current pitching, I think they could still lose 100 games. Welcome Ravens

As much as I want to see the O's win. These losses could be good. It might finally be enough proof to get McPhail to dump the veterens like Sherrill, Huff, and others while they are at or above market value. And my Rasmus + two or three prspects (hopefully some pitchers and a shortstop) for Roberts+Sherrill may be down the tubes. But I have one more idea. Jeremy Guthrie is 29 years old. And i'm not saying we should trade him for nothing because right now he is the only thing keeping this team together. But teams like the Rockies, the Dodgers, and the Cardinals are willing to offer top dollar for the ace of are staff. My reasoning behind this proposal is that by the time we are ready to combine the efforts of our drafts, trades, and signings and try to make a play-off run Guthrie will be older (33 and 34, rebuilding is not always a quick process) and he will have lost some effectiveness and therefore value. I not saying this means we chould trade him but it should definitly be a thought as well as anyone not named Markakis or Jones. And the Brewers who have the best shortstop prospects in the league said they are not interested in Sherrill today. Tough losses get rid of Cabrera. He will never be anything.

I respectfully request the Sun edit posts before they appear. There are about 2 of the 55 that have an intelligent comment about the O's and baseball! This site is a complete waste of time for anyone hoping to learn anything about baseball!

Agree with this. Folks need to finally understand that this is the first of several rebuilding years, and we will not be good this year. We probably will not get back to .500 this year. So what. We weren't expected to still be playing .500 ball in July like we did. So we are way ahead of schedule. But let's keep to the schedule. Unload Sherrill, Huff, Millar, Roberts, and if he let's us, Mora. The fire-sale starts today. Everyone (over 28) must go. Get good youngsters from contending teams that are willing to mortgage their future for a chance to get a pennant today. That will let us have a shot at being younger and having some home grown talent in the coming years. In 3-4 years the O's can contend if they stick to this plan. If they get stupid and go back to trying to compete with the Yankees for players in the free agency market, like they have for the last decade, they never will contend. They need to take a page out of the Ray's and Angel's books and homegrow all their stars by locking up promising youngsters for long periods of time and unloading older stars. This is no time to have favorites. Anyone is tradeable if it makes the team better. |

I don't think the SUN monitors this board (it is run by Topix) and if they did they barely have enough people to "cover" the news so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a priority. |

All I can say is this guys..Its ugly its real ugly and its probably gooing to get down right disgusting, but the true Orioles fan are here with ya Baltimore..This team was neglected for so many years, its not gonna turn around over night..We will be alright. I know we all are impatient.I'am TOO !! WE NEED PITCHING..PITCHING PITCHING..Any body think Davey Johnson put a curse on Angelos or something maybe the enbtire orhganization..Orioles Magic seems more like Orioles Voo Doo !!

Guthrie is 28 and nobody wants to trade him. I just think we should explore a trade for him. If we can get a top shortstop prospect or a couple of A prospect pitchers for him then I think we should explore it. He will be 32 or 33 when his contract is up. By this point (hopefully) the Orioles will be ready to move to the future and bring up their prospects. Guthrie, Sherrill, and Roberts trades should be options for us. Now Roberts and Sherrill for Rasmus (just got hurt so this is unlikely), Chris Perez (a top pitching prospect), and a shortstop with potential maybe a little to big but matches up very well. We could possibly get more like jono said if we exploit a positions they are weak in and the fact that they are in a play-off race. A young outfeild of Jones, Rasmus, and Markakis would be a excellent starting point for the O's.

Oh and for those who like baseball in general. mlbtraderumors.com is one of my favorite sites. Although there are no professional writers on it, it is very popular. It finds out about all the lasest trade rumors and filters out the crap and it always very reliable. Some of the sources are ESPN and foxsports but other sources are unconventional and uncovers hidden trade rumors from people that acutually cover the teams. I suggest giving it a try.

Dave t thinks that by defending his players every game will give them some confidence. In today's post game interview a sports writer ask a very simple question how long can you continue to let daniel slide like he has been. his response was his problem was allowing the lead off batter to reach base every inning. He ignored his question on purpose just like he always does. If he thinks or andy thinks or rick kranick thinks that one day in the near future the light is going to go off and daniel is going to be a poished pitcher then we are in worse shape then we all think we are in. Seriously please somebody anybody tell me when is enough enough. He has already started over 140 games in the majors and outside of a very short stint early this year when he again teased everybody he has been the same ineffective pitcher since day one. I realize we don't have one single pitcher to replace him with so please at some point and time real soon you have to just cut ties. It's like a very bad marriage that you stay in for the kids sake. This is very a disfunctional relationship that they have with him. Nobody can be that ineffective at anything and still have people say that is is young and still learning to pitch. This really is starting to border on insanity.please andy i beg you to just give him to anybody that wants him , trust me you will be doing him the biggest favor of his life.

They might not be able to 'grow' players in a factory but they sure should be more active on the international market. Another international signing day, another bout of apathy for O's scouts. Jordan can't singlehandedly build organizational depth by himself. MacPhail is on the hook because we should be sellers prior to the trade deadline. We should be looking to fill the shortstop void with Hector Gomez, Wilmer Flores, or Carlos Triunfel NOT with 36 year old journeyman stopgaps (Castro). While the Bedard deal was impressive, the Tejada trade has been less so. MacPhail has his work cut out for him. |

Prospect expert, I know quite a lot about prospects myself. The number one thing about prospects is that teams won't just give them up as easely as they used too. Just because your rebuilding it dosen't mean that you can acquire every player that you want just by trading older veterens for them. With the Mariners recent struggles Truinfel is almost sure to be the center of their rebuilding so he's a no. Hecter Gomez has put up decent numbers but nothing to prove that he's a long term answer he just played his first high-a game last week. And wilmer Flores or at least the one I believe your speaking was just drafted by the Mets and besides the fact that the numbers are good he can't even be traded yet. And even though those numbers are good nothing proves a SS who has never played above the rookie level.

I'd like to retire a few things.
1. Making excuses for Millar's horrific play because he's a "good clubhouse" guy. Enough with that already. 2. Masking Cabrera's complete ineptness with terms like "innings eater". You know what that term is code for? A pitcher who isn't good and will lose you games. The experiment is over. Sure, MacPhail has made a few nice moves. That's great. However, this team has THREE players that are part of the future as far as position players go. Markakis, Jones, and Roberts. And Roberts isn't a spring chicken anymore. They probably won't deal him now so they should look to lock him up for with a 3 or 4 year extension. Problem is, he'll probably refuse and walk after next season. As far as the pitching? Good god. Guthrie is the only guy that deserves to be in a starting rotation. Olson's stuff is average. Anyone can see that. He MIGHT be a future #4 starter but he's gotta improve greatly just to be that. Liz has an arm. So does Cabrera. Burres is a long reliever at best. The team better hope and pray that guy like Tillman and Arrieta are the real deal because they have NOTHING up here. It's all fine and dandy to say "we're rebuilding and it takes time". I get it. Everyone gets it. The problem is, this team is SO FAR away from being competitive that it's not even worth bringing up the word. They could make all the right moves and still not be competitive for 4 years. Yes, that's right, 4 years. All this talk about a bat here and a pitcher there is ignoring reality. We've got holes at LF, 3B, 1B, C, and basically the whole rotation. Wieters is the future C. Besides that? I don't see any immediate help. Reimold might do something but he's far from a sure thing. It's bad. Very bad. And sugarcoating it with unrealistic ideas doesn't make it any less troublesome. |

This is probably the point of exhaustion and frustration this team reaches every year about this time. This is the Oriole way in the weary, dreary era of Angelos.

Well said. Catchers are at a premium right now so we may even be able to dump Hernandez. Trade with the Yankees if we have to because they are desperate for catching help. I've flip flopped about whether or not we should trade Roberts or not because I'm a big fan but I'm starting to lean towards trading him again because we have so many holes. Folks, we have a long, long way to go. |

Mark you are a breath of fresh air. You couldn't have said it any better. These people on here are pipe dreamers. |

Has any body ever been frustrated about something and no matter what you do you can't change it. Well that is the way i feel about daniel. I can't be the only person that this bothers so much, i can't be the only person that knows no matter what they do or try he will never ne a major league pitcher. I can't believe that this front office after all the disappointment and failure that he has over the years still thinks in all honesty that he will ever amount to anything.
