Pretty silly to block a "H-o Hum?
...and BTW... JJ stays cause he & Dwight are the only ones the ticket buyers come to see... sorry Carlos fans, he be gone, get over it and keep hoping JJ gets a trade! :) |
How do you figure that Philly can match up to Orlando? Hedo was the third best fourth quarter scorer last season, so how do you figure him to be a "soft closer"? Cleveland has no one other than James, so how do you figure they will all of the sudden be a better team then Orlando? I know you think your the smartest man on these forums, but please explain your logic rather than just spout out your OPINIONS. Are you a Magic fan or are you just one who at times watches with the hope of seeing JJ play. I am not writing this to sound like I'm against your opinions, I really want to know your logic behind them. Why do you think the Magic will finish 6th or 7th this season? I think they will finish 3rd or 4th, and I can tell you why I think that (I highly doubt you would agree. In fact you'd probably make a slight at my intellect because it doesn't align with yours). Mine: Boston Detroit Orlando Toronto Philly Cleveland Washington whoever for the 8th |

Your post reminds me of several on here that want my logic, but when I give it too them step by step...they never seem to reply? Since I like you and you are one of my Fav guys on here AND I Used To Be Your Hero, lol... You have missed the many posts that I have stated I am not a Magic, nor any other NNA Fan. I think the game sucks, is fixed, and is becoming a WWF farce. I am NOT the "smartest" on here , but from what I see on here, I AM the most "logical." I believe that you all will be better served to follow and support local High School, College, and any other amateur sports than Pro Basketball. I am, and always will be, a Duke BBall fan and a Gator Fball fan. Now that I have said that again my next post will hopefully answer your questions & some of the statements. :) |

My Logic isn't always my own... I follow what the PRO's that are extremely knowledgable have to say, then I determine whether I totally agree with them or not An example of that is last year the NBA Power Rankings started with Orlando at 12,13 or 14... they finished at 10 and admittedly had their best year in what, 11 years? So that worked out pretty good as I predicated they would be 11 or 12 and I admitted that being 10th in a 30 team league ain't all bad! I think in Power ratings this year they will be lower than 10, maybe as low as 14...it's a wait and see. Now then: Philly is an improved team this year and showed their stuff in the playoffs... they have only gotten stronger and the best to hope for is that the Magic might split with them this year(doubtful though.) Most believe as I do they are a no less than a 3rd or 4th East team. Hedo: He thinks he's Steve Nash in a 6'10" 220 frame. He has (1) good year in what...9? He is a journeyman 3SF and has been with how many teams? Being a 3rd best point producer in a 5 man team isn't all that great. Jameer could be that guy ,lol. His year coming up Hedo will not improve at all but he will play hard due to his contract renewal or...whatever coming up. NOW: I dont think that I would say you are wrong about the 3rd or 4th Magic. What I think is you are stating this past year as the future year instead of looking at how little the Magic have improved and how MUCH the other teams Have. So far I see a guy that sat for the Warriors and a PG on a walker... I do like Lee though. Toronto is now a better team than the Magic. Philly is too, Boston and Detroit (same old same old) plus Washington could possibly be a 2nd or 3rd finisher and Cleveland isn't as bad as you think with just Bron and many will have them 3rd...not me though. My picks were only slightly different than those of the first Pro picker of the year. I follow the Coachs, writers, etc, then make up my LOGICAL MIND! All in all, it doesn't really matter what you or I think... what matters is what happens. If you are correct then that's great! If I am correct, well that means I get to Rub it IN terribly!:) LOL. Hey, I hope it hasn't snowed there yet... :) |

I responded to your post, but have no idea why it didn't post. I guess I'll do it again.
First, thank you for responding to my earlier post. Alot of people spout out their opinion (most of them are completely off-the-wall) but never give any logic behind them. I honestly do respect your post; that's why I responded to it, just wanted your reasons behind them. I will never asks you to respond with your reasons and not reply back. Second, you are still my hero. Third, I follow the pros and so-called pros myself, but I find them to be very inconsistent. I've seen sites that have Boston winning again and sights that have Detroit beating New Orleans. I've seen the Magic as high as no. 2 and as low as no. 7. I don't agree with your picks, but that doesn't mean you or I don't know what we are talking about, so please don't think that I'm at all trying to say you don't know what your talking about. I'll give you my logic behind my picks on another post. BTW, I prefer college sports over the pros myself and am HUGE into highschool basketball. I'm a Georgia Tech BBall fan and a UGA Bulldogs FBall fan (not because they came in ranked no. 1, I've been a Bulldog since I was a kid). Neither of these schools are my alma matter unlike you. I'm am a UNF alum and a current Colorado School of Mines student (at the age of 28, it sucks!). |

You said that you believe that I am looking at last season as my reason for picking them 3rd or 4th. This is only half true. I think when you have a young team, you have to study their growth in order to see if they show signs of improving. In the Magic's case, I do see signs of improving. I see a young talented big man who is getting better by the year and is far from his prime. That alone gives me hope for a better year. That's the Lebron ideology. Lebron's growth as a player and team leader causes experts to pick them as a possible top four team in the east each year, even though it is a one man band right now. I think Dwight deserves that same level of respect as a young blossoming player. Maybe you agree.
On the other hand, I am not looking at last year to come up with my picks for this year. I see a Magic team that has the same offensive weapons that ranked them as the fourth or fifth highest scoring teams in the NBA and the leagues best three point shooting team. Unlike last year however, they have a better defense. Battie, Pietrus and AJ are pretty good defenders. I think JJ will get more PT this year and will help the Magic spread the floor even more. Their ability to hit the three is what I believe gives them the advantage over many teams. A team such a philly will have a hard time matching up to the Magic. Lewis can take Brand out of the Paint and leave Dalembert to TRY to guard Dwight. The Magic's answer for Brand could be Battie. A good low post defender who can give him problems. The team that worries me in the East is Toronto. The have a front court that could frusturate Dwight. I have to question if Jermaine O'Neil though 1. can stay healthy and 2. have much left in the tank. I still think that the Magic will be able to spread the floor and cause match up problems for Toronto. The reason I say they worry me is because they have a point guard who is far better than ours. This is why Detroit has always been a problem for us. Nelson can't guard anyone who can ride the coaster at universal. These are a few of my reasons for why I choose them to be a 3 or 4 seed in the east. I could give more, but gotta go feed my kids. We'll spar later. |

Thanks for the posts...you would be a really nice guy if you only didn't love the Dawg's & GT!
Well, nothing much to say except last year ^^'s & Magic played 4 times. Magic won 3, thats the facts, BUT, they won one of the games by 2 points... that's still a win but it says that Philly was 2 poinbts from playing the Magic even. May happen this year but I actually think the 66's will come out on top of the Magic. I also believe that Toronto should hgave beaten the Magic last year, but lucked out. They are gonna be a force as are the other teams I mentioned. I even forgot the NETS! Dont be surprised to see them in the playoffs again. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I dont envy you having the kids and going back to school. But I give you a load of accolades for what you are doing and I really hope you reach that goal. I know how tough it must be, my brother-in-law did it and also got the Masters while married with 3 kids..WHEW! :) |

Hey Phil! First my typos in that last post are because I cant eat and type! Next Madguy is ok... he has opinions that are dumb but Hey... No one can say I dont, lol. Mad happens to be a black man and he does know alot about BBall. The sad part is he is 5'3" tall and weighs 275!(Just kidding Mad, honest!) I wish they would trade JJ too, after seeing where & who the kid has to play for he doesnt have much of a chance in Orlando. It's bad enough how dumb the GM is...but then I bring you back to an over-hyped coach that knows he should be an asst. or back in College Div. II! :) |

i cant wait i want eastern finals this year at least and then hopefully we can be hoisting up some banners baby

Well if you go by what was posted in the O-Zone that deal for Hedo is going to be done sooner rather then later. Here is what is being posted: Posted August 09, 2008 04:42 AM My father is a senior editor for The Orlando Sentinel, with majority of his insight being linked to the Orlando Magic. For privacy reasons, I cannot say his name (im sure you understand). Anyways, I overheard him on the phone last night with Orlando Magic PR(Public Relations) for a good 25 minutes, and from what he is being told- The Magic are discussing a trade with the following proposals: Suns Get: F Hedo Turkoglu *Future 2nd round Pick w/cash from NY *Conditional future 1st round pick from ORL Knicks Get: F Tony Battie F Boris Diaw *Rights to Fran Vasquez from Orlando Magic Get: G Leandro Barbosa F David Lee Im assuming this situation will find its way into public mainstream very shortly. ORLANDO OUTLOOK ON TRADE:I think, BY FAR, Orlando is getting the better deal. We lose an aging Tony Battie, an average backup 2 quard in Keith Bogans, a player that never came over LOL, and sadly our Mr. Fourth Quarter.. Think about the gain though! Leandro Barbosa!!!WHAT!!! Hes probably the fastest PG in the league, and also has OK size at 6'3''. David Lee, nothing but a bright future in this league! Plays tough every night and is very VERY athletic for a big guy. Both players are young and havent truely tapped into their potential yet. It also solves our issues at PG and PF. PHOENIX OUTLOOK ON TRADE: You lose the best backup PG in the league, but you get a 18-20ppg scorer a night in Hedo Turkoglu. Hedo is in his prime right now, and would fit very well into their run and gun style. Losing Diaw hurts, but with a team full of veterans, the suns compensate by getting cash and 2 good draft picks not including their own. That should be good enough to keep them young. Not as good of a deal as Orlando in my eyes, but better than NY. NEW YORK OUTLOOK ON TRADE: Boris Diaw! Your basically trading Lee for Diaw, which is not soo bad in a sense. You lose a second round pick, BUT youll probably be in the lottery anyways so its no big deal. Tony Battie is brought to give the young guns that veteran leadership, and a hopefull chance of landing a player in Fran Vasquez who probably has a better chance of playing in a market like New York rather than Orlando. New York doesnt get better, but doesnt get worse. Im excited to be the first to reveal this to you all, and i promise to keep everyone updated! Lets discuss http://orlandomagiczone.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/... I take all these kinds of posts as I need to see proof first before I am going to believe it kind of thing. But if it's true the Magic will look a lot better going into the pre-season then before. |
I agree about the Nets. They have a ton of talent there and did the kind of miracles you see in the Bible during the draft. They'll be much improved next year, but in two years or so they could possibly be a force. |
|
Is Barbosa a point guard? I'm iffy on this trade. I like that we would get a scorer in Barbosa and a tough defender and good rebounder in Lee. This would allow us to move Lewis to the 3 where I think he will be the All-star he once was, BUT,,,I love the matchup problems that the Magic create by having two 6'10" players who can shoot the three. The Lewis,Turk and Howard frontcourt caused alot of problems for opposing defenses due to the ability to hit the three. Also for Turk who had an All-Star year, it seems we could get a better deal. Although Barbosa is good. If he runs the point then that would be a decent deal I guess. Not so sure that I'm sold on it being a good deal though, I need to go sit on Johnny Porcelin and ponder this a bit. |

Deal Turk,Bogans and Cook to New York for Jamal Crawford and David Lee or Turk,Battie and Bogans to New Jersey for Vince and Sean Williams. These are the kind of names that I would want to see in a Turk trade. I don't think they are that far fetched either, especially the trade to New York. The salaries work, but I know it is probably pipe dreams. We'll end up trading Turk for a fresh pair of socks or a new tooth brush. If we cant get a good enough player in a deal for Turkey, then maybe trade him for a contract, someone like Shareef Abdul Raheem from Sac. He will probably retire this or next year which will allow a big salary to come off the books so we could be big spenders in 2010. It would cause us to be a team that fights for the 8th seed this season, but it would benifit us in the future. Money for the 2010 free agency and a lottery pick. Play chess....

Why the heck can't anyone want JJ to go to the Knicks but me!
BooHoo, BooHoo, sniff. |

Because the Knicks are worse then the Magic, plus didn't you know that J hates cold weather. Sending him to a city that doesn't get all that cold like Houston, Miami would make him a lot happier lol. Now you see why he would rather stay in Orlando. |
i like the people included but i if your throwing 3 players we should at least get a draft pick in return. |
