UTEP football team focuses on final games

Lol,excuses every week. Fact is they are a below average team in a below average conference. I support Utep but everyone should realize unless something dramatically changes Utep will always be an average to below average team. They can't compete recruiting wise with other teams,especially in Texas. Unfortunately,not many people want to go to E.P. Utep will have to get a big name coach if they have any chance to be able to recruit top players and that would cost way to much money that I am sure the program cannot afford.

Defense wins games period. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out that you are running the wrong defensive scheme when the second to last team in all of Division I offensifely lights up 45 points on you! That's an embarassement.

Lastly,just a question. Who is this reporter/writer bloomquist? He makes Utep sound like the best team in the nation weekly. I continue to read weekly how they will bounce back and should win favorably the next week. Lol,they prepare and practice well every week and had a great Spring?? It shows alright!! According to him they have been favored the past month in every game and when they lose he makes an excuse for them just like Coach Price does. I am sure he will come up with a way Utep will be somehow favored against SMU. I am amazed how he continues to support and kisses the teams butt. Every other cities sports writers will criticize a team's play when it is that bad but he somehow continues to give praise. They can still win all three games left??? Great job and great imagination bloomquist!

I feel bad for Donald Buckram. He's fourth in the nation in rushing yards, and I think 8th in rushing touchdowns. He's having a stellar year and the team is making him look bad. Sick and tired of this group. The defensive backs play like little girls, they are always scared to get physical with opposing receivers so they give them 12 yards of cushion before the snap. Its legal to push the receiver the first 5 yards, you INTIMIDATE THEM!!! The defensive backs pizz me off the most. OH and we can't forget about our stellar Middle Linebacker, Jeremy Springer, A CONVERTED QB TO LINEBACKER!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!! The Middle Linebacker is supposed to be the best, strongest, most experienced player on defense. He's the freakin' captain for goodness sake!! But no, we get some inexperienced kid who never played Linebacker in his life! That fault goes to Osia Lewis!!!! RECRUIT SOME FRIGGIN MEN MR.OSIA!!!!!!! Another problem are the defensive lineman! Goodness grief! They're the size of high school lineman! No wonder they're getting trashed by opposing offensive lineman and running backs! And get rid of that stupid 3-3-5 defense, it sucks!!!!! That formation is only used for 3 down and long...heck, they can't even DO THAT!!! And what the heck is wrong with Trevor??? Why did he regress so much?....sigh....I'm sick of it....thank god Basketball is here.

If the team is going to play the same way it has been playing, save everyone time, money, and grief, and just don't show up. It's much better to forfeit than to just go through the motions. This team has no pride, character. My apologies to Donald Buckram, he's the only player on the team that seems to want to win.

Relax. We are 6 point underdog to SMU. We should win. We can't win when we are the favorite. Only when we are the
" dog " can we play and win. SMU is a very much improved
Football team. Only time will tell if we can win 3 in a row. The odds are against it.Hopefully this UTEP team has what it takes to rise up and do the improbable. Good Luck.

This football team along with all its coached should be fired. Mike Price is not the Savior some of us thought he would be. The defense sucks, in fact, there is no defense! It's time for Price to go! His Price is too high. His Price is not right! Fire the entire coaching staff now!

Does any one need tickets to the SMU and Rice games. I will take a canned good,a loaf of bread, piece of lint.

I didn't watch the game since I knew what the outcome might be. This year's football team and coaches are all underachievers, no pride, no dedication, no sense of direction. We always make the worst teams look good, time to realize that this year's team just doesn't have it (desire to win), so let's pack it up and start supporting the basketball team. Still a "Miner" and in fact going to the SMU/UTEP game this coming Saturday in Dallas so I kind of wish I had had "Chico's" offer above before I bought my tickets.

Coach Prise and the entire coaching staff should not leave. They should prepare for the inevitable journey where they will find company at journey's end -- Gone to Boot Hill. Miner fans, let us shed some tears.

Sadly we are back to pre Bob Stull era and after Bob Stull era. Talk about snake biten, we are just part of a group of teams that will always finish at the bottom. Recuriting is not an excuse, we have had people come through here that other teams wanted. You can not win if you do not have proper direction. Some teams loose because they don't have the players, this team shown that is not the case here. Maybe Coach Price is a good football coach, but it shows he can't do it with what UTEP offers. We need an upstart, a young coach with everything to lose and everything to gain. I was one of Coach Price early supporters thinking that he could show us direction. He did, turns out it's the wrong direction.

What is everyone complaining about?!! I am old enough to remember when football season was just to kill time before Miner Basketball!! That appears to be the case again!! I went to the Men's Basketball game on Saturday night. WE GONNA BE GOOD!!!!!

I remember when I was kid and my parents use to buy a pizza at pizza hut off of mesa before we go see the miners lose and back then hardly anyone would show up and they would even let us in with the pizza ,but only one thing has changed they wouldn't let me in with pizza now, but they are still losing

you're pathetic chico... it's one thing to be dissappointed with the team, but to say that of your SCHOOl... I guess when your kid sucks in football or any other sports, you're gonna pretend he is not yours?

Price must go! That simple. Good players + bad play = bad coaching. There is only one team on the Miners' schedule this year that overwhelmed them with talent and that was Texas. Kansas was beatable. I reiterate - bad coaches = bad losses. If Stull isn't willing to dump Price maybe it's time to dump Stull too.

Hey..GYT Bird,& Miner FB. I might have attended a few games with you. I went mostly for the tailgate parties. After all these years I see the same results. Mistakes that cost games. Happens often with these miner football teams. Time has not changed that. The football program needs a coach like the late Don Haskins. Maybe he can do for miner football what Coach Haskins did for miner basketball. Get UTEP (Texas Western) on the map.
