Sounds more like a Dodgers game than an Angels game.

Good Anaheim!! this will teach thugs to mess with people and their family. Why can't a person go to a game with his wife and kids and not be assaulted. Glad the family was ok, who knows what these two suspects were going to do. Maybe rob them or kidnap the children. Good shoot..

I must admit that fans are getting a little out of hand these days. I enjoy taking my family to ballgames just like anyone else.
However, I hope that the officer was justified in "protecting his family." Was he receiving a continuous barrage of objects from these individuals? What if his aim was off and he shot an innocent bystander? Did he identify himself at any time that he was a deputy? I know if I was throwing an object and facing down the barrel of a gun I would stop whatever it was I was doing. I am not passing judgment, nor am I condemning the officers actions. I am merely suggesting that there may be other circumstances involved. |

HOLD THE PRESS, this is another police cover up! More than one eye witnesses have said these guys were shot simply walking to their car. The off duty police officer was drunk and shot at them for no reason. Remember, there are no glass bottles at Angel Stadium just plastic bottles. One of the guys shot is a Marine and now has a bullet in his neck because of this. Please report all the facts!
|
||||
Where are you getting this info from? The identity of the suspects have not been released. From the reports, the guys were breaking into the car of the off duty officer. When he approached the 2 dirtbags, that is when they assaulted the off duty officer with either a club or a bottle. Damm right if someone is going to attack me and my kids are present, I would shoot their AssSS too. I don't feel bad for the guy with a bullet in his neck. He obviously messed with the wrong person. |

Here are the facts since you think you know. The veteran officer was off duty walking to his vehicle in the north side of the lot with his wife and two kids. He caught 2 people breaking into his vehicle. When he confronted them and identified himself as an off duty police officer they attacked him at one time one of the suspects had the off duty in a head lock and another suspect hit him in the head with a glass bottle. The officer who was outnumbered and is now a victim of an assault with a deadly weapon (the Glass bottle) was in fear for his life and shot both suspects. As for your comment about plastic bottles, have you ever heard of tailgating?? People drink in the lot all the time and I’m sure they had glass bottles. As a matter of fact watch the on-scene video the crime scene shows glass bottles right around the victim’s vehicle. |

Ha ha, these two a-wipes thought they had an easy victim. I hope if dude does NOT die, he is paralyzed for the rest of his criminal career. Couple of OC punks.

Bueno1017 obviously is living in a dream world if he thinks that because plastic bottles are sold at the stadium it means that no one sneaks in glass. The officer has a serious head wound. Bueno1017 shows his mentality by immediately proclaiming "this is another police coverup" when he obviously has no idea what really happened. Police officers are off-duty every day carrying their weapons with them. It's rare for an off-duty cop to fire his weapon considering there are thousands walking around every day with their guns. It takes an extraoridnary situation for them to fire. This was one of those times. These thugs just got unlucky and tried to attack the wrong victim. If it had not been a cop it would have been just another victim being beaten and robbed in the parking lot, or possibly another victim killed during a botched robbery. They just picked the wrong guy. Justice.

I would rather believe video surveillance cameras than lying eyewitnesses, Bueno1017. Many eyewitnesses aren't even aware something is happening until they hear the shots. Then they turn and look, and say they saw the whole thing. When they hear it was a cop that did the shooting they lie and say he shot for no reason at all. I have no doubt that you would be one of those liars if you happened to have been there.

Nick, based on the fact that this guy was a cop with his family and the two guys were thugs bashing someone in the head with a bottle, I would believe the cop was more justified in defending himself by shooting than the thugs were justified in bashing his head with the bottle. Just my initial observation.
But what is curious is why instead of questioning whether the two thugs were justified in attacking the officer, you instead question whether the officer was justified in defending himself. I guess that reveals more about you than it does about either the officer or the thugs. |

This is another sign of why California is a horrible place to raise a family...there is a high occurrence of violent crime and no one is American anymore.. California is getting bad as all the good American people are leaving California...good luck

Whatsit, Also Bueno1017 doesn't seem to be aware that when the officer first spotted the two guys breaking into his car he immediately called 911. He was on the phone with the operator when he approached the car burglars and everything that happened was recorded on tape. From the time he yelled at them, his wife screaming when they attacked her husband and then the gunshots. All recorded at the 911 dispatch center. That will help the investigation a lot. Especially with people like Bueno1017 making unfounded accusations against the offier. What is Bueno? Is he one of these thugs that steals, robs and hates cops?

These 2 morons messed with the wrong car... and the wrong guy. The bullet in the head was justice instantly served. The other guy should consider himself lucky.

Wazzit, justification is not synonymous with attacking an officer; therefore I will refrain from commenting further.
As you are aware, we hold our sworn deputies and police officers to a higher standard. Again, I was merely pointing out that we may not have all the facts. After commenting some hours ago, it does appear as though some (purported) facts have been revealed. |

Please read up on the facts on the OC Register. I know the victims. The cop was wrong and was out of control. He shot two brothers of which one is a Marine. I'm pro cops but you have to admit they can be out of control at times.

Good job officer !!! Now why arent law abiding citizens allowed to carry weapons too...we have children and families too ?!?!?!
|
||||

I was not aware that officers are not allowed to use their weapons if he/she are drinking (makes sense). This is an excerpt from the OC register.
Weapons policy Anaheim police officers who are off-duty are allowed to carry weapons, unless permission has been rescinded, according to Anaheim police policy. Weapons must be kept out of sight at all times in a manner so as to prevent accidental cocking, discharge or loss of physical control, the policy says. The policy does not specify where a weapon can be stored, but Sgt. Rick Martinez said they can be kept inside a vehicle, adding that it was not clear whether the officer's gun was stored in his car or if it was in his possession. Anaheim police policy goes on to say that weapons cannot be carried by any officer who has consumed an amount of an alcoholic beverage that could adversely affect the officer's senses or judgment. Martinez said it was unknown whether the off-duty officer had been drinking. OC Register, June 25, 2009 |

And where does it say this officer was out of control? As you suggested, I read the article in the OC register and according to the article it sounds like your friends were out of control. Just because your friend is a Marine does not mean he is an upstanding citizen. Just like there are bad apples in law enforcement there are bad apples in the Marine Corps. Unfortunately, those bad apples cause a negative reflection for their organization. |

Nick it said the officer sustained a head injury. Looks like those crooks messed with the wrong person... Why question his aim? When he clearly hit both targets. What if he didnt have time to identify himself as an officer (which is he not entitled to by law). Obviously the circumstances arrised for him to shoot. Would you have shot to protect yourself and your family if you were in that situation? Or would you be a coward and put your tail between your legs and walk away??? |
