What a match. Too bad one had to lose. I watched Federer's speech after the loss. Nothing but class, something that today's ballplayers sorely lack. Congratulations Nadal. great match.

Unbelievable. One for the ages!
I was rooting for Federer, as well, but I like Nadal.
What I like about Roger is he completely dominated his sport for 5 years without any self-centered controversy. The 'Jordan' of tennis.
But Rafa has been coming up and was going to catch him sooner or later.
I believe both are class acts. It was a great day for tennis fans.
I think Roger has a few more solid years left in him, so we could possibly see more days like today.

You are the first person I've ever heard say Federer is a jerk.
Anyway, it was a great match.

I won't say he's a jerk, but he's a bit full of himself.

I mean seriously, he had a special blazer and pants made to wear for when he wins Wimbledon. Who does that? He also named the "Roger Slam" after himself..which is akin to Michael Jordan naming the NBA finals after himself.

Still, I respect him for being a great tennis player, though I'm happy Nadal finally took Wimbledon from him.

I admit I may not follow it as closely as you or some others. I hadn't heard that, so, maybe he is in fact, a little high on himself.
I'll say this; as a casual fan, I don't believe I've ever seen a dominant champion in any sport make it look as effortless as Federer. The first few times I saw him play, I could not, I mean NOT believe what I was seeing! I couldn't even imagine him diving for a ball......he was just always in position. I really believe he elevated the game.
Which is great, because now we have a Rafael Nadal, who looks like he's ready to dominate.
So....maybe Roger is an egotist, and I may have just never noticed. He seemed classy to me. But he was THAT GOOD. Maybe he even still is, it might be that Raffa is just better.
Either way, us tennis fans saw something special today!
Looking forward to the US Open!

Oh, no doubt! You're 100% right about his domination of the game, and the way he plays. I've been a tennis fan for a long long time and he's a rare talent. He's the Jordan or Woods of Tennis and I hope all tennis fans have taken some time to watch and appreciate what they've been seeing.

My guess would be that Federer and Nadal will have a solid 2-3 more years as serious rivals and that's great for fans and the game. It's really shaping up to be an amazingly entertaining rivalry between two great players.

I have seen many Wimbledon finals, but this one between two superb athletes was, in my opinion, the best by far. It is unfortunate that one had to lose, because both are winners. Rafa has such an incredible work ethic and perseverance on court that was rewarded today. I met him at the Sony Ericsson in Miami in March, and he is a humble guy and fantastic role model. What an accomplishment to succeed at winning the French and Wimbledon in the same year. Borg predicted Nadal would win, and he was right. I hope the rivalry between the two continues for many years because it is so good for the sport and for fans.

Nadal leads 12-6. Nadal 9-3 on hard surface, Federer 5-3 on grass.
Thats including today.

you sir are an idiot. I've played a lot of tennis, and McEnroe is a terrible announcer and knows little to nothing about tennis.

that said, it was a great match. Johny Mac in his prime would not win 2 games in 3 sets against either of these guys.

So you know more about tennis then a guy who won Wimbleton? Jonny Mac has cred. You sir are they idiot as you have ZERO cred.

Todays match was a great one I agree with you on that but you need to get a grip on your self. Your head is way way to big.
