I have watched the Vikings my entire life (I'm 42) and I have never had as LITTLE enjoyment as I do out of the Childress-era team. They are BORING and MEDIOCRE. I blame it on Childress being a psychologist -- he over-analyzes everything to death and refuses to let his players "just play". In football, sometimes you gotta tell your team "damn the statistics/trends, Go beat up somebody". Childress has no football instincts and thus is unable to manage a game with his "gut".

I find it sad that I'm already looking forward to the end of this season, if the Vikes can barely beat the Lions, with help from the refs then we have no hope to get into the playoffs. The problem is that Childress can't call plays and he makes his qb's horrible. Gus isn't any better than Jackson, yes he's won 3 games but how well did the defense play in those 3 games? Very well. Also the recievers choose to catch the ball for Gus, we would have beat Indy if Williamson in disguise, Shiancoe, held on to the ball in the endzone. If we win that game Jackson is considered a good qb. QB's are always graded on if they win or not. Gus is considered a good fill in but yet he has more interceptions than Jackson and more sacks. The guy isn't any better than Jackson, he just gets to pass the ball more.

17-21 as a head coach in 3 seasons.
Millions spent to upgrade the whole roster since day 1. Nothing more to say really.
The guy is a loser.

Chilly is an embarassment. Zygi is the main problem. Anyone dumb enough to employ this joke of a coach is awfully stupid; unless he plans on going to LA. The offense is atrocious and his faith in TJ was postively insane. He has personally ruined football in Minnesota on Sunday. This team is one dimensional and boring to watch. His kick ass offense will put you to sleep. I hope like thousands of others that this guy goes!

While I don't disagree with Powers' view. I am really hardpressed to agree with the fans that are calling for Childress' firing. As I have said over and over, the players are have to show some consistancy before Childress can truly be evaluated...
Passes will be dropped, coverage missed. I will grant you that, but have you seen this person's play calling? have you not noticed the sharp inward drawing of air that is our special teams play? do you not sit in amazement as your nine year old nephew predicts nearly every play we will run before we even break huddle (he's at 90% this year...)? have you seen this guy's clock management? These fall under the aegis of the coach and his staff, not the players. Childress needs to be gone.

I think the problem with Brad is that his Vikings teams never seem prepared to play football. They are not fired up and they've played up to and down to the level of their competition. Moreover, this West Coast offense and Tampa Two defense does not seem to suit the players well. Hutch, McKinnie, and Birk are nasty road graders, not zone blockers. The West Coast was developed to help teams that did not have a running game. But the Vikings have two very good backs. Berrian seems better catching the balls on slants that along seams. And the Vikings have nothing special at tight end. Meanwhile, the defensive line still does not have much pass rush. Teams are still getting the big play against the Vikes through the air when they need it too.

Got that right, pal. I said almost the identical thing yesterday.
...and mind you, this will be Brad Johnson 2 years removed from Childress control. It should wake some detractors up to the fact that in Dallas, they have Johnson and Bollinger. We still have TJack. They are not rebuilding there, though they may have to with 6-7 guys on disabled list.

So much talent goes to waste so often. Brad Childress play calling is absolutely pathetic. He is scared stiff to take a chance. When he actually does, good things almost always happen. So take about 30 more chances a game. He frustrates me to no end. I love the Vikes, but hate the coach.

This post gets right to the heart of the issue. Childress is boring and the team has taken on his persona on the field. The result is pretty much what you could expect a .500 record and a restless fan base wanting something, anything to get excited about.

Hating a murderer or a rapist is understandable. Hating a coach is juvenile. That headline is juvenile.

Fans hate Childress because they want Viking football to be two things: winning football and exciting football. On second thought, fans would accept boring, but winning football. Look at all those successful Bud Grant coached teams: boring offense, tenacious defense, winning seasons deep into the playoffs almost yearly. Fans will accept exciting but not winning football; look at the worst Denny Green years. Losing games because the offense couldn't score enough to save the inept defense was at least exciting. But Childress has given the Vikings losing football and boring football. Why fans hate Childress is because he appears to be too stubborn to realize or admit that his offense isn't an NFL winning offense. It doesn't highlight the best talents of his players. That's why Childress is a bad coach. Good coaches create situations where their players can show their best. He hasn't even come close to doing that.

I like most here have been pretty upset with the Vikings play. The O line needs to pick it up. But we are 3-3 and tied for first. May not be the best division in football, but if we can keep winning, be it pretty or ugly, we get into the playoffs. After seeing the Giants win the Super Bowl last year, it is definitly not out of reach for the Vikings by any means. There really isn't a dominating force in the NFL this year.

are you kidding? he didn't stick with Tjack long enough. Nobody can put up big numbers with his play calling. The passing yards have gone up since Gus took over, but the play calling has been significantly different. I feel sorry for Tjack. He never go a fair shake here and eventually someone will give him a chance and he'll be able to show what he can do
Are you nuts?..TJOKE sucks, thats why he wasn't given passing plays to use...even an idiot like scrotum head realized that TJOKE isn't a QB, never will be but Klink's ego prevented him from making a change...it took a call from higher up to pull the plug on this clown. He is scared, Klink has totally shot this guy's confidence ( if he ever had any) plus TJOKE simply , isn't smart enought to be an NFL QB,he can't read defenses. If you watched this guy closely at all this year, he drops back to pass, looks at 1 receiver the WHOLE time, then pulls the ball down and runs. He does not have the head for being a QB, again, Klink took care of that, he ruined TJOKE's chance, if he ever had any, of being a professional QB.....as a result of Klink's ego and stubborness, the Vikes don't have a QB, not one for the future anyway as this moron laid the future of this franchise on this no brain clown who he calls his QB....that is what has hindered this franchise and will , unfortunately for a while to come...oh Zygi, where are you?
