I have been rooting for the Orioles, Colts, and Bullets since 1971. You're CONVENIENTLY FOEGETTING that the Ravens jumped ship from Cleveland in the same manner as the Colts jumped frpm Baltimore. The difference was, Modell had no such excuse as Irsay did. The "Dawg Pound" always sold out, 80,000 fans EVERY GAME in Municipal Stadium. Memorial Stadium in Baltimore had only 52,000 seats, and the Colts drew crowds as low as 25,000. The Baltimore fans didn't support the Colts when they were hear, and screamed bloody murder when they left. 25,000 fans showing up at games, and 3 MILLION fans screaming bloody murder when they left. That's a HUGE imbalance.<quoted text>
Now here's where I disagree with you. I am a Ravens fan and damn proud of it. I root for all the Baltimore teams and the city itself. Any sports team that moves away from Baltimore deserves to be excommunicated. And that especially includes the INDIA-NO-PLACE Colts!

And you brag about working for Esskay. Now who's the moron? |
|
Heap or no Heap....this is going to be a LONG and painful season to watch. Mark my words if we go 8-8 it is a success....I think we'll be lucky to go 6-10.

Fang are you forgetting that all hot dogs work for Esskay. I guess Skay is to small to be an Oscar Mayer weiner. |
Dude, are you Daniel Snyder? Shockey is just as injury-prone as Heap. And Alexander is done. Injury-prone, slow, lost his will to play. |

LOL. Brilliant. Another great contribution from the captain of the peanut gallery. |

All i need to say is...please for the love of god trade heap while he is young and we can get some decent players or a nice couple of draft picks...the kid is always hurt...he is no help to us...his trade value is much higher than his playing value

Actually you're wrong. Perhaps you have heard of the World’s Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum? The Colts attendance didn't drop until the strike shortened season and then Elway's refusal to come here which was right before the move. Instead of worrying about the team he was putting on the field Irsay saw Al Davis move for more money so he packed up and left Baltimore in the middle of the night. Cleveland had the chance to keep their team but they didn't want to upgrade their facilities. Once Modell announced he was moving all of the sudden the vote changed and the money to upgrade was there but that ended up falling through. A few years later they spent more then twice as much as they would have tearing down the stadium and building a new one. The attendance wasn't bad but they did not sell out every game. Modell also left the name with Cleveland. I understand you were upset when the Colts left Baltimore, we all were. Since you didn't live here you followed the team to Indy. Then when we got the Ravens instead of coming back to the team in Baltimore you stuck with the Colts. Realizing your mistake after we won a Super Bowl before they did you became angry. Now you spend your time making false statements hoping to anger Ravens fans just like you are angry at yourself for sticking with the Colts. If you decide you have had enough of being an angry person try putting on some purple and black and see how the other half lives. |

Dude, what are you doing here? This isn't the orioles, colts or bullets board. Cry all you want, life's not fair. Go to boards of teams you actually like. |

Word. But he's a troll. And that's what trolls do. They go to other team's boards and troll. |
the spelling insult only works for proven idiots who mispell oN a consistent basis. I'd say Skay has proven he has above average intelligence (when it comes to spelling LOL). |
|
I am gonna hget grilled for saying this (no pun intended) but maybe he wishes he was an Oscar Meyer Weiner? I like Esskay better anyway. OM sucks. |
|
I never knew he worked for Esskay until you mentioned it. That explains why he has all this time to post on these forums LOL. lotta pork going on over there |

First of all, that's BULLSPIT that the attendance didn't drop until the 1982 strike. I remember all the games in the late 70's and eraly 80's when Memorial Stadium was half empty. Second of all, I didn't "Make a mistake" by sticking with the Colts, I proved that I wasn't a front-runner. The fact that you say that I "didn't realize my mistake" proves that you encourage front-running. Finally, you Ravens fans are psychotic like Yankee fans, whom think that they have more to brag about than the Red Sox. The Colts won the Super Bowl two years ago, including beating the Ravens on their home field. Then they crushed them again last year, 44-20, again on the Ravens home field. But somehow, I am "jealous" of the Ravens, a bunch of dirty gangsters that went 5-11 last year? GET REAL!!! |
skaybaltimore yuo really don't know what you're talking about man. I bet you watch a great game of football but you have never played one down. |
|
And why do you need to explain this to us? If you know you're not "jealous" of the Ravens, why does it matter what we think? And generalizing an entire team as "gangsters" certainly proves your credibility on this board. I don't care if you're jealous or not. I don't care what your opinion is. PS- the Yankees do have more to brag about. 26 championships to 2. It's simple numbers. |
|
That is the point isn't it? Heap has carried a huge load for a while now and it catches up to different players at different times. Maybe Heap is just out of warranty and we all know what that means. As for Shockey, I doubt we could afford him under the cap and his warranty is near expiration as well. Still, he's quite a talent. Hopefully they can develop a younger one.p |

What does a card game have to do with anything? http://www.amazon.com/Bull-Spit/dp/B0009I721S You should ease up on this stream of consciousness thing. You make some points;though the Yankees in fact do have a lot more to brag about than the Red Sox do; at least if you are talking about sporting achievement. Yankee fans aren't psychotic; they're just New Yorkers being themselves. You just don't like obnoxious, boorish, demanding people. Admittedly that is an acquired taste but I bet most Yankee fans will pass their sanity exam; it doesn't mean you'd take them home to meet your mother. Also you know nothing about Baltimore sports fans. Front-running is a defining characteristic of all fans and Baltimore is no different. Ten lousy years of Orioles baseball? Hah! Cubs and Red Sox fans wouldn't even notice. The Colts drop out of contention and the crowds go away but man, those late 70's, early 80's teams really were putrid. Mike Pagel, Curtis Dickey, and Frank Kush doesn't make anyone forget about Unitas/Jones, Moore/Mitchell and Shula/Eubank. I didn't give up on the Colts; I gave up on giving any money to a real psychotic:BWI Bob. It's not good to enable bad behavior. Call it a blow for sobriety. The Ravens moved here so I believe in supporting the local team; good for the economy, sort of a civic duty. Still, I wouldn't brag about crushing the Ravens last year, everyone did, no big whoop. Peyton is 32 and how many years does he have left? Meanwhile, Flacco is just starting out. Three years from now when Peyton is 35, and Dungy is gone, will Poilian still have another rebuilding job in him? Oh and to the best of my knowledge, none of the Ravens last year were indicted for anything so gangsters isn't really appropriate. As for whether they are dirty, well football is a pretty dirty game isn't it? |

Or we might need to head in the opposite direction, like 36 year old Kyle Brady, formerly of the NE Pats. He's a good blocking TE, and would not break the bank to bring in. Estimates for the minimum vet salary with a $40k signing bonus would "only" set the Ravens back around $480,000.00 cap-wise,+/-, because of some clause in the CBA that makes it more cap-friendly to sign vets with as much tread off the tire as Brady. Jason Dunn from the Chiefs might be someone else in the category to consider. |
