Orlando Magic expect to sign shooting guard Mickael Pietrus for...

Well well.... Magic fans seem to be getting their wish. I am a little concerned about him, being benched by the Warriors coach and only starting 97 games out of 310. Well...I think he is a good player and hope he fits in well. Now Bogans will probably be the odd man out in trade since he has only one year left. I say trade bogans for a good vet or J.J for a late 1st next draft.

yes Jason Williams does live in Orlando, he comes here every summer , reports say that is why he would like to play for the magic, we should either sign him or another pg that is maybe a better defender or is taller, I think that we need to sign or aquire in some way 2 pg's and 2 pf's because we need to have depth at those positions because thats how we get beat is depth at those positions but we also need to make sure they are quality players and players that can contribute defensively, we should trade bogans and/or redick to address those needs and do what we can with the rest of the MLE , that is if there is enough to do sumthing with it and do sumthing with the LLE

We're out of the running for Maggette who seems to have agreed to a 5year $50 million deal with GS. I'm sure some people will come in here and blame Otis for not getting him...
Anyway, I would've preferred resigning Evans over signing Pietrus. |
I agree with you almost all the way, but I dont see how Jason Williams would be agood fit for the Magic. The Magic need a defensive presence athe PG and I just dont see Williams as being that presence. I do agree that we need more depth at the 4 and obvioulsy at the PG situation, thats whay I think Turk with the chances that he could opt out of his contract at the end of the year would be prime trade bati along with the completley hyped up and vastly overrated Redick. I love Turk but would not mind to see him go if the Magic could add some depth to the team especially at the 1 with all th trouble Nelson has staying healthy for an entire season. I like the direction the Magic are headed, good job Otis GO MAGIC!!! |

Who thought the Magic's need was a two guard when they had Bogans, Reddick, Evans, and drafted Lee? We still need a PG and PF. Is Otis trying not to bring in a PF so he can go down as one of the top PF in Magic history after Horace Grant? The Magic got banged up against Detroit and Howard fractured his chest but the first priority was a shooting guard? FIRE OTIS and bring in a big man to bang down low when the playoffs begin.
At least now we can start the chant for WE WANT LEE since he will be burried on the bench much like Reddick was. |

Except for the fact that Evans is a free agent and JJ won't be playing with anything but himself on the bench, we were set at the 2. Of the remaining people on your list, one is a rookie who has yet to play a minute in the NBA and the other is a defensive liability who cannot get inside the 3 point line in an offensive set. Further, as is stated time and again, we did not lost to Detroit because we didn't ahve a PF, we lost because we could not defend their gaurds. Battie and is coming back as well, that is in essence like us signing a PF when compared to last year's roster. Sure we need another for depth, but they will likely not crack the lineup as Fortat seems like he will be getting pirmary minutes in teh back up role to Howard and Battie. So, should we have signed a tall stiff or a clear upgrade at the 2, where we are NOT set like you say? |

Are we really only going to have Gortat and Battie as our only other big men??
And we still have 2 starting small forwards in Turk and Lewis. And 1 point guard who is 5'7" And now we have 17 SG's.... I guess we are all about the three.... Hopefully Otis has more plans in mind.... |
|
Couldn't agree more, seems like another waste of a draft pick |
|
|
We'll probably only have one of the SG's we had last year, if that. I think that the ones we got this offseason are either better now or going to be better than the ones we had last year.
We'll probably pick up a PG and PF when we make a trade (which will probably happen pretty soon.) |
|
We could not defend their guards? The guards on Detroit drive to the basket in which a PF could stop them not Lewis who is not a true PF. And our PG who got beat horribly. So its ok to have two SG's ride the bench and still be weak at PG and PF? stick to watching college ball man and crying about the Gators. Leave the professional game to the people that know it.:) |

Hey people, rumor has it that Lebron doesn't want to be in Cleveland, Kobe wants to go to a team with a real big man, and Chris Paul likes Dwight Howard.
I think Otis Smith should make a deal happen now, trade Hedo, Nelson, and cash to get Chris Paul. Better yet, Otis should be fired if he doesn't make this trade happen. |
|
Take your own advice. Watch golf or something else you might could understand. The two gusrd spot is our biggest weakness. The point will be okay if we can sign Dooling or trade for a back up. Remember Hedo can play point forward for us. Getting Battie back and making the qualifying offer for Augustine while keeing Gortat and Cook gives us plenty of serviceable big men. We will also probably get one more with a trade or the vet minimum. So far, the draft and free agent signing are just what Otis should have done. |

Observe Carlos Arroyo with the National Team of Puerto Rico. Again it would demonstrate can be to title in any equipment of the NBA if they give to the confidence and the minutes him.

The Magic lost the series to Detroit for only one reason: They couldn't get a rebound when it counts. They have done nothing to address the need for their true need, a big. Tony Battie does nothing to fill the Magic's true void. Pulling the trigger on overated soft Rahard Lewis and trading Ariza for nothing combined with no help for Howard inside will prove too much for the Magic to compete for a title. How exactly is Petrius and his $25 million contract an upgrade over Bogans? He stinks at the foul line and couldn't even win a starting job in GS.

Pietrus is solid. He is a good defender. He is a better defender than Bogans and Evans, but not as offensively skilled as Evans. I couldn't agree with you guys more as we overpaid for yet another player, but he's solid and I think he'll be good for our squad. Next, instead of trading Bogans or JJ, trade Hedo. He's gonna be a free agent after next season and will command more money. There is no way Hedo is gonna repeat the season he just had. We should package Hedo with JJ and aquire a solid PF like Udonis Haslem for example. Besides, if we do get rid of Hedo, Lewis will then move to his natural position at the 3. Lewis never played 4 in his entire career and he did a nice job there last year, but imagine if he had played at the 3. His stats easily would have been 30% better, and I think he can return to that All-Star we saw out of in Seattle. So as I think Pietrus is a good but overpaid sign, I say trade Hedo for a PF.

WOW! Where to begin, Bogans is a free agent, Evans is a free agent, Reddick can’t play defense and Lee is a rookie (though I think he will turn out to be a good pick.) Stopping the guards from penetrating is the guards responsibility. And oh by the way Otis was not a power forward, he was a shooting guard and played small forward sometimes. Maybe you should brush up on the “professional game” as you would say |
