The Cubs melted because they were not mentally tough. They met adversity and it kicked them where it hurts. They didn't have the heart or smarts to overcome. I don't blame Mr. Bartman for not showing up. The man got fired from his job, recieved death threats and had to move out of state. I would tell the Cubs and all of their fans to kiss where the sun don't shine if that happened to me.

As a life-long Cub fan,this proves that what I've always thought is true: Bartman has more class,sportsmanship,integrity and guts
than any of the people who keep blaming him. No he's NOT going to accept the money from this jerk, because he doesn't wish to keep calling attention to that incident, which he should not have been blamed for to begin with.

Some people just don't know how to handle the role of hero. This young man is entitled to millions for his deed. I guess he is just too humble. Cub fans could learn from him.

I like that this article doesn't make any effort to recount who Steve Bartman is or why he is so notorious. I mean....YES, it's the Chicago Trib.....but that infamous non-catch was also nearly 5 years ago. Aren't journalists always supposed to recap, if briefly, what they're talking about?
