absolutely pathetic effort out there by the team and the coaching staff. for a former special teams coach, harbaugh has had our special teams looking worse than ever. Mcgahee should be charged w/ highway robbery for the contract he got, and Bisciotti should pay the PSL owners back for a couple of games if this mess continues.
PSL owners can shove it. McGayhe is worse than worthless. Hey Ozzie...when they can you at the end of the season...put a note on your desk for the next GM that says "probably should think about drafting an O-lineman this year".

Troy was in a different system last year. He and Flacco both have the same amount of experience in this system. New head coach this year. There really is no argument for starting Smith over Flacco. Smith is not an NFL starter...Flacco could be. It was not ideal to start Flacco this season, but he had to start...you can't pull him now. Sorry but Smith lost his shot...and even if he would have gotten it, it would just have been a placeholder shot for Flacco. Flacco is going to toss 25-30 INT's this year and less than 10 TD's. It'll be awful to watch but hopefully next year he can produce...and hopefully he'll be a cornerstone in the Bmore offense for a bunch of years to come. Troy Smith will be lucky to make a career out of backing up NFL QB's.
I'm sorry but I don't agree with you about Smith. I know the team does miss his leadership and he could have another shot at leading this team. If he gets better he will be in the game. I do agree with you that Flacco will be the cornerstone of years to come, let's just make sure the coaches can soothe his mental after tossing 25-30 interceptions vs 10 Td's.

What does anyone expect from this team? Rookie quarterback and no off-week. 5 and 11 will look good.

Of course you disagree. You live in Ohio. He had a nice career at Ohio State, but that's it. Take off the Ohio State Homer Blinders and realize guys like Troy Smith have not fared well in the NFL. Also name me the last option QB to win a superbowl. We cut Troy Smith today and he ends up on a practice squad or in Canada. Fact.

So what happens if you pull Flacco for Smith? One of two things-
He does marginally better (you get maybe 1 more win at best) and nobody is happy including Flacco- Or- He does just as poorly and everything is a mess for next year since both QB's will be watching over there shoulder for the hook while trying to grow as a field general. I think they went through that for six years with the Boller vs. the new/other guy scenerio. How'd that work out?

Yeah the guy is an Ohio State homer that doesn't realize Smith's best days were spent as a system QB in an offense that many other players could have run. There is no up-side to benching Flacco.

Well Fire Trembley shut me up. He called this game spot on. I really didn't think the Colts would run rough-shod over the Ravens like that but they did and they usually do. 119-40 the last four times we've played them! Hate to admit it but "You Da Man"

It takes a big man John Dey...I will refrain from flaming you.

Even I didn't think the Ravens would play as poorly as they did yesterday. After the defense's performance I have no qualms with sending Ray and Bart packing this offseason. CMac, Rolle, Walker, and a few others can join them.

This game showcased what has been obvious the last two seasons. If Cory Ivy plays on first and second down, the Ravens will be blown out. Period. If he doesn't it will be a good game.

Harbaugh is the problem, plain and simple!
Yes, he is likeable and he is a nice guy, but so am I!
And, as a head coach for the Ravens, I, or any other nice
guy, would have gotten exactly the same performance from
this 2008 Ravens team - it is a team functioning on auto-pilot!!!
More auto-pilot is this team's fate because the head coach is out of his element, sadly enough.
When nothing works, head coach, step forward and take all the hits because the players cannot be faulted for an auto-pilot
performance; the players are just going through the motions without a clue and when the players have no clue, it's because the head coach has no clue!
I see a head coach who appears to be completely lost, without
a clue. This means no more wins in 2008 and a dismissal of Harbaugh at the end of the season - the front office will have no choice, just as the Orioles had no choice with another clueless leader, Phil Regan!!
Ravens fans want a winner now, just like all other NFL fans want one. Asking Ravens fans to watch a 3 year development program will only get those endorsing such a pipe dream run out of town along with Harbaugh - patience is surely a virtue
but NFL fans endorse "Not For Long" and NFL fans will not wait even 2 years for a winner - you'll see empty stands first!
Like everyone else, I like a nice guy and I like Harbaugh, but, like Regan, he is not there, and so he should not be here - not his fault, he was handpicked!
Long story short, 2-14, Harbaugh gone, Flacco, career backup!!!
Finally, Mr. Bischotti, check with me before you choose the next head coach and I will save you a lot of grief the next time!
Have a good one!!!
The last half of this person's name applies.

The problem is the teams have now scouted Flacco and, since the Ravens are playing a condensed offensive playbook, it doesn't take much to stop the offense now. The coaches have to open up the offense or the Ravens will continue to be ineffective on offense. Flacco is now making the rookie mistakes. It scares me he is starting to resemble Boiler with short arming long passes and constantly stumbling in the backfield. The young offensive line is undegoing growing pains. You need to stick with them. I would play McLain and Rice more. Our receivers are atrocious and, except for Mason and Heap, need to be replaced.
The defense has one strategy .. blitz. Unfortunately if the blitzers do not get to the quarterback, then this defense is DOA. Poor coverage and sloppy tackling is killing them. As for the special teams, that coach should resign in shame. What a lousy group of athletes we have on those teams. They don't seem to block on run backs and don't really seem to want to tackle on coverage. When is the last time you saw a Raven specialty team's player blow up a return. It just doesn't seem to happen.
The Ravens will win about 5-6 games this year. They are still evolving. Harbaugh needs a year or two to get rid of the dead weight. I am not ready to give up on him yet.
I believe you are correct. The opposing teams have scouted Flacco and are on to his weaknesses....flesh him out of the pocket and watch him make a bad throw into a defender's hands.

Flacco, and his coaches, I'm sure know this. Most of his interceptions that I recall were when he was outside the pocket and on the run.

McGahee sure isn't living up to the hype. Sheeeeshhhh!

He seems to get a boo-boo (except for his eye injury, which was a justifiable and painful injury) after every other tackle.

A total collapse in all phases of the game is typically the fault of the coaching staff. This team was not ready to play emotionally or mentally.

Ravens should have matched their strength (running game) against the Colts weakness (Run D). Boring? Youbetcha. Effective? No less so than a Flacco-led passing attack. Running an unbalanced O-Line followed by Neal and McClain should have left cleat marks on the chests of the Colts defenders and kept Peyton off the field. Instead, we passed early, went 3 and out or turned it over often, and allowed Indy to get up on us early.

Cam Cameron should realize that sometimes you have to play to the abilities of the players you have.

Is this a rendition of The Emperor's New Clothes, or what? I know what I saw on Sunday.

Joe Flacco stunk up the joint!

Whether Flacco will be a "great" quarterback in a year or two is besides the point. Who wants to sit idly by watching the Ravens get blown out while our QB gets his on-the-job training? The NFL game is moving too quickly for Joe. Put Troy Smith in there and let's see who's the better quarterback.

Flacco bites! Put in Troy Smith he can't be any worse!
Oh, Sean Sheafer of Towson U. threw for 373 yds and 4 tds on Saturday; Eric and Ozzie should draft this guy in the 1st round next year - we need a QB!

Problem with this team is that Ozzie & CO. never pulled the trigger on the expected rebuilding process. They kept trying to patch up the ever-increasing (and more expensive) holes in the lineup to make just one more run.
May be time to do just that this offseason. Really need to get younger at the perimeter (Secondary and WR/TE). They also need a good RT (Terry plays soft and Anderson is slow and literally soft...I think he's in his fourth trimester).

This game illustrates the importance of a healthy Ray Lewis......This is a glimpse of how patheteic and nothing this team would be without his heart, energy and leadership......something that is still not understood or appreciated by The Fans, the media and most importantly Ozzie newsome and co.... who decided to take the #2 run d defense for granted and draft a rookie quarterback who may turn out to be pretty good when Ray Lewis is in a rocking chair.....instead of giving him the support he needs on the back end which could have turned the # 2 run defense into the best overall defense for the entire season ....not just the first couple of games with stats inflated by the Injured Bungals and dysfunctional Browns....now it gets real ...and all raven fans will feel the wrath of Ozzie Newsomes Joe Flacco experiment....when Flacco gave away hard fought games against pissburgh and tennesse that combined with Newsome's reluctance to give Lewis the corners he needed... it was over for this defense....thats way to much pressure....the front seven is great but they're still human.
