3 Give me a break, any moron who smashes into other cars for fun gets what they get. Hey victim of the family I got some advice for you. If you really want your son safe don't let him race in crash-up derbys, lol. Play with fire and your gonna get burned sooner or later, lucky the kid isn't dead. |

1 I feel bad that this guy got burned. I do hope and pray that he recovers 100% and one day looks back on this day and says "I sure was lucky that day". No one forced him to wear protective gear or design the vehicle so that it wouldn't leak fuel and explode. But he could have done it on his own. Just like an adult has an option to wear a bicycle helmet - or not. You make your choices, and sometimes those choices have unexpected consequences. You would think common sense would tell the drivers of these vehicles to wear as much protective gear as feasible. Yeah, it can be hot in the summer wearing those suits - but as we can see, it can be hotter not wearing them. As for more "rules and regulations" - here we go again, trying to make the government think for us, telling us the obvious, and putting the burden of responsibility not on the person but on the system. I am sure that the owners of Riverhead Raceway are concerned over this incident, and certainly didn't want anyone to get hurt. But do they need to spell out every little detail for the drivers - especially when you knowingly drive a vehicle with the intent to ram it and smash it into others, until only one is left running? Forget the lawsuit. Stick to common sense. And be more careful next time. Hopefully other drivers will learn from this and voluntarily wear more safety gear. Jimmy, get well soon. And don't be afraid to get back in the saddle again!! |

Get rid of those global warming gas guzzling demo cars and use only Flintstone mobiles. Then nomex will be no issue. Sarcasm Off.

What's really needed there is a properly dressed rescue crew. Those guys and their little extinguishers looked like the Keystone fire department.

If his mother & sister are so concerned buy him the suit and make him wear it. Its always some else's fault. Mom & sis are believers because there son/brother was reckless and now they want rules to mandate something that anyone in the business knows is smart business - safety. Mom I hope there's no money in this for you. You were probably watching - shame on you

"If they were mandatory this little boy might not be here today,"
Since when is 19 a little boy? Little boys aren't allowed to drive. These woman should try wearing one of those suits on a hot summer night. These guys aren't getting paid to be sweaty and uncomfortable. They just want to have a good time and know all about the dangers. If it's such a big deal, let them pay for a Halon system in his next car. |

Uh oh, here come the anti racing police. The type of people that think watching Oprah is fun and spank the monkey for enjoyment.
These are the same people that think you are wh!te tr@sh for shopping at JCPenny's and not at Fortunoffs. I'm sure they want Riverhead Raceway closed now because "it's dangerous" all of a sudden now that it's in Loserday. Hey, lets ban anything that has to do with horses because Christopher Reeve fell off a horse once and became a quadraplegic...... |
|
So then why didn't he just wear a suit?

TIJUANA, Mexico Police on Monday found six charred bodies on a Tijuana street following a bloody weekend that left 14 people dead.
Assistant Baja California state attorney Salvador Ortiz said the six unidentified men were shot dead early Monday morning and their corpses set on fire. The state attorney's office also reported another eight men killed over the weekend in separate attacks. One of burned bodies had been handcuffed, while others had their heads wrapped in plastic bags, Ortiz said. A Tijuana police officer is the chief suspect in a triple shooting over the weekend. Also Monday, police in the Pacific coast state of Sinaloa found the decapitated body of a man wrapped in a tarp and dumped on a street in the city of Culiacan. The head and a threatening note were found nearby inside a plastic bag, said a state police official on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak about the case. Ten decapitated bodies, including Monday's victim, have been found throughout Culiacan in the past week. |
