The Tigers are hurting in the bullpen. Farnsworth has had good numbers this year. Pudge gave up the no-trade clause in his contract. He wanted to go. We need a relief pitcher that can actually hold a lead. This was a good move.

That being said, I do feel like Pudge sparked the turnaround in Detroit. He is a stand-up guy and I'm sure he did a lot of good being around the clubhouse. But, none of that matters anymore because he's a Yankee, so by default, I feel like I have to hate him.

Farnworth is a bumb. terrible move. I thought the Tigers would be buyers, not sellers.

I give up Pudge and get Farnsworth in return? Thanks Dave Dombrowski. You've made a lot of great deals, but this one was stupid. What has Farnsworth done in his life? Oh and now I get to play Inge and his .230 average and subpar defensive skills everyday. That's brilliant!
Yes, it is brilliant. Detroit never addressed relief pitching in the off-season and this is a way to fix it. Now they shouldn't have to worry if a 10 run lead is enough going into the 9th inning!
At least Pudge can win another ring now and go to the hall of fame in pinstripes.

So long Sludge. Now if they can just find a taker for Shef's salty balls maybe the Tigers can get back in the hunt.

Our family are HUGE tiger fans and we were so very disappointed that this trade happened. I suppose if pudge wanted to be traded (which I have heard)that's a whole different story but in the end I don't think we got the better deal.
Pudge was one the best things that could have happened to the tigers and we wish him the very best.

Leave it to Dummy Dumbrowski. Pudge has been the face of the Tigers and to trade him for Farnsworth is ridiculous. I can't believe trading him to the Yankees! If the Tigers get hot and somehow win their division they could well be playing the Yankees! I can see it now - Pudge getting the game winner off from Farnsworth.

Just got to my parents home and they brought up the Pudge article on the computer. What the heck is going on in the world of baseball? I just started to watch the Tigers again since I am from the Al Kaline, Norm Cash, Jake Wood, Rocky Colovito, and Bill Freehan Era. So now I am supposed to watch this new team minus one of the true tigers. He has given so much and now we have kicked him to the curb. I hope that he will find true happiness in N.Y., because he has given us so much.
I too, came from that era. My first cousin, Mickey Stanley, played for them when they won it all in '68.
I guess as far as this trade goes, that's why his name is pronounced DUMB-browski. Ivan Rodriguez is one of, if not the best defensive catcher to ever play the game. He is also a helluva team leader. He knows how to handle a pitcher. He also knows how to control a game. It's true that he and Leyland were not the best of friends, but he accepted his role, and gave Detroit 5 great seasons. It seems to me, that there are plenty of other big name hitters on this team that are failing miserably this year. They all look good on the nights they score 19 runs, but more often, big 2 out hits from these guys are few and far between. Not every player is going to bat .300, have 30 home runs, and 100 RBI's each year.
There is plenty of blame to go around for their shortcomings this season. Personally, I would like to see them get rid of Freddy Dolsi, Fernando Rodney, and dangle a couple of other big names out there (Marcus Thames is one of them), to see what interest there is. The biggest prima-donna on the team is Miguel Cabrera. You're not going to get anything for Maglio or Sheffield because of injury problems and age, but they did free up a lot of money for next season. They won't likely re-sign Kenny Rogers, Sheffield, and desparately need to dump Jeremy Bonderman while they can. It was just a couple short years ago, that Bonderman had one of the worst records in the major leagues. How quickly the fans forget. Remeber, we are also sitting on one catcher...Vance Wilson will NEVER pan out. Brandon Inge, although not a power hitter, has saved Detroit's butt on many occasions this year.
But Ivan Rodriguez straight up for Kyle Farnsworth? Dave Dombrowski needs to drink a little less of the kool-aid. It's just a good thing that they play in such a lousy division. They spent a lot of money for mediocrity.

I will bet you big money that Pudge Rodriguez won't enter the Hall of Fame in pinstripes.

Is the manager of the Tigers talking to the coach of the Lions?
Neither one has enough brain cells.

That's the first thought I had...I will miss his bum. Good think I took plenty of pictures at the last game I attended!

I think I'm still in shock over this trade. I hate when players get moved...I still miss Sean Casey on 1st and Inge at third.

Didn't we dump the guy that they traded him for? My memory could be playing tricks on me. Pudge will be back ..... as a coach.

Would have been stupid to have solved this problem BEFORE the season.

I understand it's a business, but this is sort of like trading Alan Trammel or Lou Whitaker, it just shouldn't have been done.

I feel the same way, as do my 2 oldest boys. My daughter (age 7) is taking it worse. She is in her room at the moment sobbing into her pillow. We will miss Pudge so much!
