Can someone tell me - How far can this Quinn guy throw a football?? Is it 50 yards or 55 yards, what??? Remember when they were doubting Garcia's arm strength one year and the GM - Savage said you only had to throw the ball 37 yards past the lime of scrimage in today's NFL. So Garcia was sufficient enough as a deep thrower. That was a rediculous comment. Come on, Phil. You can do better than that. What if you can throw only 40 yards and the wind is blowing 35 miles per hour off the lake?? Ask Brian Sipe about that one??? Remember the 10-7 Browns game in 1983. That was one of the windiest games I saw, October, 1983.
Couch's top throw at his personal combine was, I beieve 63 yards but that was before he hurt his thumb and had a shoulder injury.

Oh, yeah the 10-7 game was against the Jets, won by a Matt Bahr field goal on the last play from about 46 yards. The stadium was rocking, Pandemonium Palace. The Jets had Richard Todd, then. Remember him. Sipe played great that day. The Browns were 4 - 2 after the game and in first place in AFC Central. They would have made the playoffs that year but lost some bad game against the Oilers that year who were winless or had only one victory in early December - 33 - 30 or something. I believe Mike Pruitts - 4 fumbles did the Browns in that day.

Who cares, anyway that was 25 years, ago.

As it is everyyear, Browns come up short by choking to losers.

mike, I have seen Quinn play a couple of times, if he wants to let the ball fly, I think he can throw it as far as Anderson, it just might not have the same velocity on it. But I woulnd't believe all the stories about inaccuracy because he has always been a game player, he not nearly as effective in practice.

Okay that sounds great. We get to see what Quinn can do. I just hoope he has the first team with him or its not a real view of what he can do.

It sounds like Anderson has improved his accuarcy and that is a good thing.

Sure they do - it happens all of the time - especially on deep balls. I've seen many times where a QB throws a perfect deep ball down the sidelines that would have hit the receiver in stride for a TD, but the DB jumps up at the last second and barely gets a hand on it to break it up. Man, you must really hate Quinn for some reason to nitpick one pass thrown in practice.

Quinn has shown some signs of improvement in the last couple of practices and may not be the bust he looked like the first 10. He may end up a solid backup level QB in the Kelly Holcolmb mode. Even someone that could start for a short time while a starter is out and win some games in the right system.

In some modifications of the West Coast offense Quinn might be an adequate starter with middle of the NFL type stats and wins. He is not a good fit for the Chud system. In all likelyhood after a second year of sitting all season behind Derek Anderson who looks 10 times more ready and effective than last year and should have an even bigger season, Quinn will ask for a trade. If the Browns can find a trading partner expect him to get a conditional second or third round pick for Quinn.

But for Browns fans now we need to worry about if the starter goes down with an injury is our season over or can Quinn do enough to keep the playoff chances alive. The preseason games will answer that, so far in camp there is reason for concern as well as hope.

D.A. couldn't beat out Charlie Frye for a job and looked pretty decent last season. I wouldn't worry too much about how Quinn looks right now. He'll be fine.

...because when you play against 4th and 5th string D losers trying to make a roster spot, you just look so good.

Get a clue. Preason wins and loses mean crap when your evaluating to cut down to a 53 man roster.

lest we forget when talking about quaterbacks and only having 3 in camp, with cribbs we have an emergency fourth qb. with that said, i realize expieriance, practice , etc. are not that prevelant where cribbs is concerned. i say that because once the season starts, what team can boast of three quality qb's on their team ion this age of salery cap. therefore i for one am comfortable with who we have now without feeling the need to get another qb in here to sit on our inactive roster in the event of trouble.

...the Browns will need a 5th and 6th "emergency QB" as the Patriots run up the score on them...

From what we saw last year in pre-season, and again the last game of the season, it's pretty obvious that Quinn is one of the top five or six QBs in the league right now.

He reminds me a lot of Joe Montana.

quinn may not be a top level qb right now, but as we saw last year when anderson got injured for a series and quinn stepped in and led the browns right down the field for a would be touchdown,(2 receivers dropped 2 passes in the endzone). he looked pretty good versus that defense. he will not be a "kelly holcomb" quality qb, he will be a starter and a good one, he just needs a chance. practice and games are two different things. just ask allen iverson. by the way, only steers and queers come from texas, and i dont see any horns, so you must be.....well you know....
