You win championships with good defense. Mayfield was down to their 4th and 5th string backs when Salopek went out with an ankle injury on the first play. Ceniceros, Hallock and Salopek are all out with injuries for Mayfield and they still ran for 400 yards on us. All the quarterbacks and receivers in the world won't mean a thing if we can't stop the other team.
What about Hobbs game our defense stoped hobbs a few times, our offense was not able to score 2x on the 1 yard so in this game we needed some long passes from Hester and manning as reciever we would have had that game. Hobbs won because they had a passing game.

Noone is asking for a championship team year in and year out just to be able to compete. Use all your talent on the feild, keep the defense off the field, we all watch the pros, we see the trickery , halfback plays , option plays, play actions , when you have the talent available you must take advantage; maybe that is the problem, they are only use to having limited talent.I have been all around the world and country and I can honestly say there are at least 3 kids at the school with the talent to go far in football. talent is a gift.<quoted text>
I agree with you! There ia a quarterback at AHS who can do all those play's I have seen him do this in the Carrizozo game, I just dont understand why I read comments at times that Hester is not ready for Varsity (says who??) He has a natural talent for the QB position.

Ok, I get the lineman thing. But they are still relatively small, based on heights/weights I've seen. I guarantee another season and off-season of lifting and muscle building will help
Height is only a factor with Tyler and Tyrell. They both are relatively short, but bulky. Very strong. Justin Power is 6'3 and Cameron Brewer is about 6'1. We seem pretty balanced there.

Hobbs is a so so team. Look at how we did defensively against Mayfield, Goddard, and Clovis. Not good.

If we cant beat gadsden, there is no hope. Cruces high might score 50 before the half on us.

I totally agree with you. The coaching staff failed to use all their talent.

If you have a QB that averages as many ints as he does completions , you had better have an awsome running game.No matter how bad a team is , that is not going to make your QB acurate.

I talked with someone who knows the stats people. Alamo has almost 900 rushing yards, almost 720 passing yards. Is that balance, or is it not because they have more rushing yards?
Actually that is good balance.....guess the bottom line is the SUCK!!

So, you wish, will you apply if the job is open? Or is it your job to just complain and do nothing else? Standefer can't win — we should have passed more last year and we didn't, people said. This year, we're passing and we should go back to the running formation, people say. Have you even been to a practice to see what goes on? Or do you just watch Friday night Saturday and Sunday and yell at the TV from your couch?
B.New, I appreciate your comments, they're insightful, but when you say we should've passed more last yr.how is it Eric Dorton broke the school record for receiving yardage if we did'nt pass enough last yr.

What's up Alamo Tiger fans? I see you're still bashing the coaches. On the last "Homecoming heartbreak" blog you all got upset that an"outsider" was "shitting" on your team well like I said before you do a very good job all by yourselves. You guys don't learn. With many of Mayfields players out you still couldn't even get a run, hell you guys couldn't hang. Let the coaches do their jobs this may just be a season of rebuilding. I don't know but damn you guys are tough on this guy called Standefer. If he had something to work with maybe he would be doing better. Mayfield is a damn good team. I know you all couldn't have been thinking you could win. Better luck next year. While your coach is trying to rebuild why don't you all take the initiative and start helping by rebuilding some confidence in your team. Your team lacks in this especially the upper classmen that you all dog all the time, because you have more faith in your younger players. It's a damn shame to play your hearts out for fans who don't appreciate you. These are the memories they;ll take with them. I "ll give them this they don't quit even when they don't have the support of their fans. Mayfield is tough, but they have alot going for them especially their fans. Learn from them.
Coaches do have alot to do w/ winning.Earlier this summer I was at Cruces and ran into a Mayfield alumni, and being complementory I congratulated him on the success of his team,on having a good program, ahtletes, and coaches.Right away his response was "it's all coaching". With that said give Standefur some room, next yr.w/the upcoming talent the tide turns.BTY who' coming in 2nd to the Dawgs this yr.?

I figured all you'd do is complain, you wish. Typical fair-weather bandwagoner. Real glad for those people.

The coach will have a much better season next year, he will have some awsome talent on his roster I can see the offense taking off and score a lot Waery, manning, rowe as receivers Hester as QB trowing them TD's all the time, baker and wilson as runningbacks all the Jr's coming back on the lines should be a joy to watch the coach and his new offense. I bet all of alamo will love standefur next year.

I guess second is better than fourth. Don't ever count out the Trojans and Bradleys. Ask the Dawgs. It will be interesting in district 3AAAAA.

Sorry, but will not be the coaches doing but ,like you said the talent will be there. I have watched all those kids play sports, Weary, Manning, Wilson, Hester,Baker, they all are natural atheletes, that is a gift, and if you put them together properly you could have a good team in this New Mexico league, back east that is a typical talent you find on the teams.
