Trojans roll past Tigers in district opener

Please hire coaches that have a CLUE. You cant hire coaches because they want to coach, you must make sure they know what they are doing....In Alamogordo this DOESNT EXIST and thier record shows it.

So, you wish, will you apply if the job is open? Or is it your job to just complain and do nothing else? Standefer can't win — we should have passed more last year and we didn't, people said. This year, we're passing and we should go back to the running formation, people say. Have you even been to a practice to see what goes on? Or do you just watch Friday night Saturday and Sunday and yell at the TV from your couch?

I am glad they are using the shotgun love the passing plays, but you need to give it time. If you would watch JV football you would see it works for them. With that said the next few years should be good for the Tigers Weary, baker ,rowe, manning, Montes and hester should be a very good offense for the tigers. Hester will be able to get those receivers and hester can throwe the ball no worries there. Defense will do fine next year all those Jrs will still be here. Next year we should do pretty good we need to get some money for our sports programs at AHS. Wish the companies in this town would sponser our sports at the AHS.

You win championships with good defense. Mayfield was down to their 4th and 5th string backs when Salopek went out with an ankle injury on the first play. Ceniceros, Hallock and Salopek are all out with injuries for Mayfield and they still ran for 400 yards on us. All the quarterbacks and receivers in the world won't mean a thing if we can't stop the other team.

Many people comment on next year's offense. I think it is all going to start with the line. Next year we should have a great offensive line. Tyler Rogers and Tyrell Medina are Juniors this year, both starters. I do believe our left guard, Justin Power, is a sophomore, and he is looking to become a decent linemen. The only people we are losing are Caleb Choate, James Seiler, And Brian Johnston. Should be a good year next year. 3 returning starting linemen.

Ok, I get the lineman thing. But they are still relatively small, based on heights/weights I've seen. I guarantee another season and off-season of lifting and muscle building will help

Yes they should have passed more last year and run a little more this year. Its called balance. Without it....well look at the Tigers record.

I talked with someone who knows the stats people. Alamo has almost 900 rushing yards, almost 720 passing yards. Is that balance, or is it not because they have more rushing yards?

Bobby i can dig your comments. We need to stay possitive give the tigers time to get the offense going. Maybe this year things did not go our way. Next year should be more possitive due to all those Jrs on varsity this year. Than we have some sophomores who will be playing Varsity next year, I agree when you made that comment about Hester this kid has outstanding talent why take the risk of him getting hurt, I know Standeferd will put him in the game when they are up in points to get him ready for next year. So maybe we see some of his skills in the next game. Overall I like the passing game more exitement defense did some good things this year but if the offense can't score its hard to get a win. I am very possitive for the tigers next year

What's up Alamo Tiger fans? I see you're still bashing the coaches. On the last "Homecoming heartbreak" blog you all got upset that an"outsider" was "shitting" on your team well like I said before you do a very good job all by yourselves. You guys don't learn. With many of Mayfields players out you still couldn't even get a run, hell you guys couldn't hang. Let the coaches do their jobs this may just be a season of rebuilding. I don't know but damn you guys are tough on this guy called Standefer. If he had something to work with maybe he would be doing better. Mayfield is a damn good team. I know you all couldn't have been thinking you could win. Better luck next year. While your coach is trying to rebuild why don't you all take the initiative and start helping by rebuilding some confidence in your team. Your team lacks in this especially the upper classmen that you all dog all the time, because you have more faith in your younger players. It's a damn shame to play your hearts out for fans who don't appreciate you. These are the memories they;ll take with them. I "ll give them this they don't quit even when they don't have the support of their fans. Mayfield is tough, but they have alot going for them especially their fans. Learn from them.

Look,Unlike the pros and college ball, we can't go out and recuit players to fill positions,so we have to play with the talent we have available right now,cause you do'nt know what the future holds;with that being said there is talent that is able to help the varsity at least offensive wise. Manning has great hands. He has been catching 50 yard bombs from Hester for the past 2 years on a consistant bases. He is also very fast. Hester has a good arm and can stretch the offense. He averages 2 plus TD pass of fifty yards per game. Wilson is one of the fastest in the school and this past week he caught a 50 yard TD with a cast on his arm. So you play with what you have and this mentallity of player only seniors or juniors and the obvious favoritism.Also the town and school need to have more events to support the only High School in town including the Holloman AFB. There should be all the time something going on at the high school, park , soccer complex etc. to raise money for the school. ( car washes, barbecues, flagfootball games,say between the Tigers and Desert Dawgs , etc)

hey thanks for the positve talk about the juniors come back, i did the math and we have 12/22 starters comin back next year.. so maybe instead of critizin us maybe we can all be optimistic for next year, but we really really really need a booster club, coach standefer is our booster club haha bet you didnt know that so how about some donations pa pa pa please!!! spark some ideas about boosters helpin

The football team can play with 3 quaterbacks ,utilizing all the talent. They can use several running backs and several receivers, a defensive would not know what hit them with all those threats. So this one is more on the coaches not even giving everyone a chance, how can you have a passing attack with out good alot of good receives and a long threat. And this practicing offensive with out tackling is wrong, the only one that should not get hit hard is the QB and that is because he is unprotected at times. Anytime the is unfairness and favoritism a system will not grow and eventually breakdown, look at our economy and we are suppose to be the world power and leader.

You know I would take the job but knowing this Athletic Dept, they probably pay minimum wage. The tigers dont have the talent that others do...thats when coaching comes in....I mean this team lost to Hobbs!!! That is embarrasing!
Dont get me wrong i respect any coach who has the time and patience, but back to my original comment, you have to hire coaches that are proven on that level, not just accept volunteers! You know why Mayfield is sucessful? Because the play BASIC FOOTBALL, nothing fancy just run people over. Keep is simple stupid, thats step one in Coaching!!

Noone is asking for a championship team year in and year out just to be able to compete. Use all your talent on the feild, keep the defense off the field, we all watch the pros, we see the trickery , halfback plays , option plays, play actions , when you have the talent available you must take advantage; maybe that is the problem, they are only use to having limited talent.I have been all around the world and country and I can honestly say there are at least 3 kids at the school with the talent to go far in football. talent is a gift.

Realistic is right. Why not use all the threat's in the box, Standefert said in the paper he would throwe everything he had at Mayfield but he failt to use all his threats, it is true Hester has been throwing many 50 yard bombs and 2 or more TD bombs a game this should tell you some about his abbility,so why not put Hester and Manning in for a few play's it won't hurt to give it a try.

Did you know that Hester has a minimum of at least 2 long TD passes per game and a minimum of between 150 and 300 passing yards a game that should be a statement and this is a fact. Why be afraid to use him at times in the game, just like realistic wrote Manning and Hester have been playing together for some years and the 2 really connect together also Hester is 6.2 160 lbs Anderson is 5.11 and 160 lbs I think Hester can handle the game, not afraid for him to get hurt he is a big boy. Give him a chance.
