LeBron gives Cavs 'A' for Williams trade

Half a world away, LeBron James expressed plenty of optimism after hearing that General Manager Danny Ferry pulled off a trade Wednesday to bring in point guard Mo Williams from the Milwaukee Bucks.

This was the most important endorsement. If James is happy, all is well in Cleveland.

Welcome back, Windy. We've been pulling for you.

Good move, now Danny should concentrate on singing West to a contract for good reasons, first he is equity for Cavs as far as point goes, second he is a good defender and oky scorer and has a good personality. Go Cavs.

A great move considered the circumstances. I think Brown can coach most young players into developing their game. Just hope Williams doesn't lose offense on his way to developing a defensive game the way Brown will demand. I think we are one front court player (a true starter) away from having the personnel. We still need an offensive system. Great news after the crappy Indians and over hyped Browns.

Mo Williams is a good acquisition. However the roster still needs tweaking. Shooting guard is a mess and Mike Brown isn't going to play dwarfs in the backcourt. Hickson looked promising in summer league, but with Andy searching (groping) for his big payday, we need one more quality big man under 30 in the paint. Andy probably won't be around much longer.

This deal is only the tip of the iceberg...unless you think this is really Sasha's year.

Most importantly the best basketball writer in Cavaliers history is back! Welcome back Brian!

No disrespect to Windhorst, but Bill Nichols was far and away the best beat writer the Cavaliers have ever had. I mean, it's not even a competition.

Yes, the backcourt still is a mess. If Ferry knows what he's doing, and after years of on-the-job training it's still highly debatable, he'll move Gibson at the same time he moves Varejao and Szczerbiak. But good shooting guards don't grow on trees. Hell, at least acquire a shooting guard with a name that's easier to spell. Szczerbiak. Too many consonants in all the wrong places.

I like the move and for Ferry's sake I hope it works out. Larry Hughes was strike 1, last years trade is strike 2, so if this doesn't work out than Danny should be out of here. Usually 3 strikes and you're out, unless you work for the Indians and your name is Eric Wedge in which case you get strike after strike as long as it doesn't cost ownership anything!

This is good for Cleveland now watch for the Cavs to trade Z for another low post scorer which will be huge for the Cavs and Lebron to have. This team is a player away now ( offensively I should say from winning it all).

What is his scoring average / shooting percentage. I don't know to much about him. The big question is - can he play defense and handle the other team's best scoring guard???

Remember that guy that always called Pete Franklin and asked him about the Milwaukee Bucks. He was driving Pete crazy. I always laughed out loud when he called. Pete kept saying he belonged in the bug house.

Last years trade was an interlude.

I didn't like it as it related to last year, although it may have helped a bit in he playoffs - Ben played much better then he was given credit for.

The Cavs have been able to play the expiring contract thing - partially from the trade - and this was a big move.

What no one knows at this point is how the players will look when they come back. Did Andy and Sasha learn a lesson from last year and are they going to show up in shape and ready to play? How about Boobie - is he ready to become a force instead of just a part-time scorer off the bench? Wally and Delonte know the system now, and Wally is a win-win for Cavs fans - he's playing for a contract here - so either we get a Wally that contributes, or his expiring conract will be attractive for a team that deceides to rebuild and loks to dump a quality vet with a long-term contract.

My concern now is how the front line scores when Z sits down. Joe Smith took some of that responsibility. Now we're facing Andy and Ben out there at the same time again, and that's a disaster with LeBron out here...and this year they need to give LeBron some rest. The 2 rookies - Hickson and Jackson - might be able to score a bit...but they are rookies and cannot be counted on. Wally is really a small forward, so he can relive leBron some if he shows up ready to play.

Got some holes going into the season, but on paper the team has improved, the young Cavs are a year older and hopefully wiser, and the guys aquired last year know the system and have had playoff experience with it. If the 2 rookies can contribute 6-8 points a game, 2-3 rebounds and eat up 10-12 minutes between them while holding the opposition in check, then the possibilites are great. But i's all abot injuries....as usual.

Can't wait for the season to start!

But watch out for those 76'ers.

Looks as if the Cavs are ready to make their move. I really feel that the team would have improved just by going to camp together, but you can't pass on a talent like Williams.

All reports on Hickson point to the possibility that he is a player who can score in the post. The Cavs big men have got to be on cloud 9. You will not see point guards sagging off of Mo.

if somebody brings up the name zach randolph one more time, my head might explode. yeah the guy can score, but thats it. he plays no defense whatsoever. hes not a team player. plus, he's making $14.6 mil this year,$16 mil next year, and $17.3 mil the year after that! thats ridiculous for a lazy, no-defense, one-dimensional head case. the addition of Mo Williams is definitely a step in the right direction - the addition of randolph will be two steps back.
