Favre outduels Pennington in Jets' 20-14 win

So imagine what happens when Brett Favre actually feels comfortable with the plays he has at his disposal, or the number of them for that matter.

For all you knuckleheads out there who got excited by the acquision of a 40 year old quarterback, enjoy this lucky win since they will be few and far inbetween. This team stinks!!!

Very true! Between Lowery and Reavis, it looks like the Jets might have a pair of young, shutdown corners. This should've been a blowout! I don't understand how the D can let Chad throw the ball all over the field when they know he can't throw outside the numbers or more than 15 yards down the field. Why was'nt there 8 men in the box like opposing teams D played Chad when he was a Jet? Nugent better get his act together! There is no excuse for missing 20, 30 yd chipshots especially in perfect weather. Also thought Mangini got too conservative in the last 5 minutes of the game letting Chad hit that 4th and 7, and then going 3 and out on last possession. It was very Herm-like and we know how much that works. You've got to put the stake in the heart and put the game away so the opposing team does not have a chance to beat you on their last possession. Other than that, a win is a win and in the past, the Jets most likely lose that game. It takes a little time when you add some new players for both the D and O to get into sync and play as a unit so the Jets can only get better.

Favre looked "rusty but sharp"? lol That's a new one...the only thing rusty was the running game, the Dolphins were playing off the whole game, begging Favre to go deep hoping for an INT and he still shredded them. The line did good, but couldn't open a hole against a pretty sub-par Dolphins D. That "fumble" was Favre running for his life w/no protection...having the same guy who ran at him un-touched coming back to do the same from behind un-touched. Interesting to note, Favre went to recover that "fumble" after it was loose and a lineman actually batted it forward (didn't even look like the lineman was trying to catch it, watch is slowly, he smacked it forward hoping another Jet would pick it up closer to the endzone...practically right out of Favre's hands)...not sure why. Bubba Franks blocks just as well as he did when he was up here in GB...

Clearly you are a loser!
Opening game of the season against the QB who knows the offense and defense better than you do, on a baseball field against a team with a new coach and you still win the game, on the road?

1-0 and the Jets are moving in the right direction. The throw to Cotchery is the reason Favre is worth his wait in gold.
I've been a Jets fan for 30 long years and with the exception of Vinny in his first year, I can't remember a Jet QB throwing a ball like that.
Makes you realize how poor the QB play has been on the Jets side year after year!
Love Favre, Love the Jets, kick thos Brady-less Pats next week

Well said, I can't remember aerial offense like that since 1998.

Lets be real here. "So what happens when Favre is actually comfortable with the plays at his disposal"? Here's a question for you, what happens when we actually have to play a good team? I don't know if anyone realizes this but we were one td pass away from being beat by a team who went 1-15 last year. And everyone is happy about how they played today? Why couldn't we shut them down. Why did we have to hold our breath for the last 1:33 of the game when we were playing a team with 26 new players, 8 rookie starters and a whole new coaching staff? Our GM spent millions in the offseason and we barely beat the stinking Dolphins? Those are the questions that should be asked and why we should be a little worried.

Really, what game were the rest of these people watching? With all of the mistakes the dolphins made, for them to be a good pass away from beating us doesn't make me all that excited about this team!

Where is the Jet's offensive line protection? Where is the Jet's pass rush? Can any other Jet's wide receivers gets open anymore except Cotchery? Where is Cole? Does it all got to do with the 100 degree heat? What! Only Nugent can kick?

A Jets fan for more than 40 years, the number 4 jersey shined today like the number 12 jersey shined 40 years ago. Sure Favre is no puppy and his career is almost over, nevertheless he still has pop in his arm and is making this already an exciting season. J-E-T-S.

Geez, no room for error with you you huh? I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were turned into the 1989 49ers and we're supposed to go undefeated and blow out every team we play.
First of all, it's a division game. And I don't care what any teams record is the last year, the middle of the eyar, or whatever. Division games are always tight, no matter the opponents record. Plus add the fact that Pennington was over there, and you think he didn't share some schemes with his new team. I mean come on. Add to that, Favre hasn't gotten the whole play book down yet, and there you go. But again, a win is a win, and I'm pretty sure those world beating, blowout winning Patriots lost the Super Bowl to a team that started 0-2 last year. So lets not all start criticizing already. I mean, can we just enjoy the win and continue to get better? Is that ok for the Jets to do, or is that reserved for other teams and their fans?
It was a good win, and an even better afternoon, know that Brady is done for the year.

Holy geez, another one. Hey are we allowed to get better? Are the players allowed to gell with their new QB more? Is the Super Bowl played next week or something? I was almost certain it was in Feb.
Wow, I mean we lost but er... Oh yeah we won. What a terrible win right?

I mean San Diego lost in the last seconds to a non playoff team, they're done right, it's over for them. Slow down, it's a long season. Save the pessimism for later in the season.

Well with Brady out for the season, there's no reason why the Jets can't take this division...the table is set up for the that's for sure.
