Safe? And Chicago has how many shootings and murders each year???

Compact? How many venues will be used in assorted locations? Has the IOC looked at or driven in daily traffic in the Chicago area????

And with corruption rampant in Chicago and Illinois? An event of this scope and size has disaster written all over it.

Why does Chicago tout its Latino ties? How about the fact that Chicago is an ethnic melting pot? I guess most Americans take the back seat once again.

I can't believe how all this drags on and on and on and on! It seems so obvious to me that these games will be held in Rio, for the very reasons they said - it's not just that city, or Brazil - it's a whole continent that has long been overlooked, so my guess is no matter how deficient their bid might be, it will be infused with enough cash from somewhere to make it happen. And frankly, we just don't need the mess...

What is Chicago in Spanish? I say might just as well change it to whatever it translates to. After all, "you don't even have to speak English" there. The city of broad shoulders has turned into a barrio. Sad.

English WAS our primary language. And you're right, this is the United Sates of America and for that same reason, things change. Remember when the indigenous languages were the primary languages? That was before the despicable white Europeans came through and started a genocide against the indigenous people of this land. This is OUR land and we're taking it back! Go back to Europe!

maybe the city can take a cut of all the illegal sales of blue juice and elephant ears the hispanics sell on street corners.

Jeebus. The Chicago Olympic group was promoting the Latin aspect because they were in a LATIN AMERICAN country and because two of their three competitors have strong Latin American ties. I'm sure if they had been in eastern Europe or Asia presenting their plan they would have emphasized the city's ties to the Eastern European and Asian communities as well.

Like it or not, the Olympics brings people from all over the world to the city that hosts it. Candidate cities need to be able to prove that they can accomadate visitors from a lot of different backgrounds...not just caucasian, english speaking ones. This is one of the major benefits to Chicago's bid--it is a city with a multitude of ethnic communities.

Gee LatiNation you are just as hateful and bigoted as you say the white Europeans are. There are good and bad people of all races and ethnic groups. Including Hispanics.

Seriously, the majority of you people here do not even live in Chicago. Yet your so quick to post stupid negative comments. Take pride in your City. Just for once. Also I bet your paychecks come from a Chicago office you probably work in.

So quick to knock the City that is providing a drug infused suburb, wife cheating, it's not all thats it's cracked up to be lifestyle. In reality your the miserable one who doen't know what living is, because there is nothing that your pathetic suburb has to offer other then parks...

Ohh an Meth Labs, and the list goes on but we only tend to highlight what minorites do. Lets not forget how many idiots blew their heads off playing with daddies gun...

But it only happens in the underworld of Chicago. Go fig!!!

This is a wonderful opportunity for Chicago. Let the world see our beautiful city and its incredible diversity. The Olympics offer an opportunity to rebrand our city to the world. This will benefit Chicago immeasurably over the course of several decades or more. Chicago is highly respected in the business world, but as far as international tourism goes, we are often still viewed as a huge cut throat city, where Michael Jordan and Al Capone vie for attention.

Some of you in the far out suburbs, ahem Schaumburg, need to get in touch with reality. Whats good for Chicago is good for the entire metro. This is a large cohesive metro economy and aside from the olympics, expanding rail and airport capacity is key for the region to continue to thrive into 2050. I can't believe how selfish/foolish some of the suburban perspectives can be by certain individuals in places like Schaumburg.

Oh that's rich. The closest the Chicago Latino Population is going to come to the Olympics is picking up the garbage, cleaning Rooms in Olympic Village & mowing the lawns in Washington Park. What a sick pathetic joke that they're being used in this Bid that will bankrupt the City
