It's management fault. They should be saying and expecting the current players to play hard and well. By saying, "We are holding on till after the all star break," managemnt is giving the players a free pass to play down." They should be saying, "Despite the injuries we have major league players on the team. We expect them to play that way." Omar is at fault of setting a poor tone and not making a deeper bench.

Omar would have done very well in AIG, Bears, Golden & Sachs and all those other companies that have cripled the nation. He basically has blown the money given to him and has nothing in return to show.

another stupid met move give away a left handed bat
. I can't believe all this love for Church, 2 hrs and 22 rbis, the guy hit about 100 with RISP. How many times has he been ahead on the count 3-0 and either struck out or hit a weak grounder. Could not hit lefties, yes he was a very good outfielder but an avg hitter at best

What this trade proves is that Mets fans don't know what they want. For weeks, we have all beenn begging Minaya to make a move. Now he makes a move and everyone is all upset. Is it a great deal - No. However, Francoeur is an upgrade over Church (more power, little better fielder with a cannon for an arm) and is five years younger and not as injury prone.
.
Anthony you are so right, these "Mets fans" are pathetic, the only thing these idiots want to do is whine, bitch, complain. If they got Halladay and gave up there top prospects Mets fans would be blasting Omar for mortgaging the future. Bottom line is Mets fans will never be happy. If mets were 10 games in front they would be bitching well here we go again another Sept choke

Really want to shake things up? Get rid of the Sheffields, Tatis', Castillos, Schneiders, Hernandez, etc.Consider trading Santana and KRod. On this team they're wasted, and by the time (if ever) the Mets become contenders again they'll have grown too old. Forget about the return of the Three Caballeros. The Mets weren't very good when they were healthy. Forget being "respectable". What's the difference if the Mets end up ahead or in back of Washington.
And Minaya--Look at the man in the mirror!

They hated Church for some reason and at least he got away from this band of no heart team and manager
Exactly right! Wow, they really punished him and rattled the cage of the rest of the team. See how inspired they were in last nights game, immediately after the trade???

Omar's re-arranging the deck chairs on a sinking ship, one where he was at the wheel at the time it hit the iceberg.

One more reason why Minaya's a-ss needs to be fired after this dismal season.
