as a cubs fan living in san diego due to navy i have watched edmonds extensively this season. he has no speed, no power and cant cover any ground. picking him up would be a huge mistake which is why i am sure the cubs will do it. you dont go 100 years without winning a world series unless you have some serious incompetence in management.

I'm a lifelong Cardinal fan and Edmonds is my favorite player of the post Ozzie Smith era. I never wanted the Cards to get rid of him. I still think it was a mistake. And It will be blasphemous if he ends his career as a Cub. I don't dislike the Cubs but Edmonds is a CARDINAL all the way and always will be.

I'd rather keep Pie than bring in this washed up Cardinal. We don't need him. And he's done.

The Cubs don't need Cardinal retreads. Don't sign the has been! The only way for Pie to get better is to see major league pitching. With the way the Cubs are hitting, Pie's defense is all we need.

yes im with you 110% ruddie! maybe this rumor was started just to put idea's in Pie'head. simply all one has to do is look at this realistically, and see how it cant be true (shuddering) he cant hit he cant feild, what can he do 4 cubs? so it has to be some toi.

We would want a guy who couldn't beat out the retreads on San Diego, I don't think so. If Edmonds was less valuable to San Diego than Jody Gerut, I think it's time for him to file his retirement papers. Same goes for rumors about Ken Griffey,Jr. It's probably a stretch based on his past, but I would rather gamble on Reed Johnson that either of these 2 guys on their way to retirement.

Edmonds probably isn't the answer, but what's the risk? Pie NEEDS to work on his stroke, as his strike-outs are out of line.

Bring Edmonds in at the mininum. If he gets hot, great. If Pie gets hot, great. If they both suck, then move on to Plan C.

Anyway you slice it, the "worse" case scenario is that Pie gets hot in the minors while Edmonds is hot in the majors. In which case, you trade Edmonds and bring up Pie.

Why not give him a chance, they only have to pay him the league min. He could turn out to be something good, and if not you are not out that much.

Excellent move for the Cubs and Edmonds if they come together. Edmonds would surley want to show LaRussa and the Cardinals what a mistake they made with him. Edmonds would also be great as a DH in those interleague games. This might be the end for Pie, and he would be great trade bait for someone like Baltimore if they want something for 2b Roberts.

This could be the year!

Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, Fukedome, Soto, Edmonds....I see many runs generated with those guys.

Edmonds is an old bag of bones! No need for his K's in this lineup!

We don't need another Mark Prior on our team souring morale with a brutal attitude, marginal talent and a head the size of Mark Prior's Dad's.

This is pretty much a low-risk move. If he doesn't pan out, then the Cubs can dump him without having to worry about paying out a contract. If he does pan out, he could be an impact player like Gary Gaetti was in 98.
