It certainly sounds like those who know more about the inside workings of the Vikings are giving him the stamp of approval.

I hope for his sake that this is correct and not a P/R statements.

He showed some positive things, and improved as the season progressed. He still has some significant growth ahead of him, and it will take more time to really see what he has in field generalship. He will be lucky to ever get another shot at the starting QB spot on this team if he doesn't perform this year, which means the playoffs. If he falls short, he might as well start preparing for a backup role.

Some of the comments were a little cryptic i.e. he needs to clear his head (in the offseason); we wxpect him to get better in the offseason etc.

Jackson certainly did look more like a starting QB in the Denver game even though it was a loss. He looked like he had command of the huddle and showed confidence. If he can overcome some of the glaring weaknesses i.e. staring down receivers, overthrowing them, adding more touch, throwing from a balanced delivery and remaining patient, he should be a much better QB this year.

I noticed that too. That is what led me to say "P/R Statements". If my memory is correct, I think we had some similiar comments like this last year. I'm hopeful that he did improve over the off season.

However on the flip side, I wish everybody and their cousin would quit quoteing the 12-4 as a starter. His wins had nothing to do with him and everything to do with AP.

oh well time will tell

The Denver game doesnt real say much...Denver might not have been playing THAT hard knowing they were not going to be in the playoffs anyway. The Redskins had already won so the Vikes were out even with a win.

Even if the Broncos did play hard...it was one game, if TJack can show some consistancy and play consecutive games w/o being hurt and make good calls then I give him my stamp of approval as a fan.

If he bombs this season, expect the Vikings to be looking for a Franchise QB. This is a hit or miss year for TJack, sort of like last year was for Williamson and look how he dropped the ball (no pun intended)

I can't wait to hear what all the blog-mouthed Topix idiots have to say when Jackson leads this team deep into the playoffs in 08! A first year starter goes 8-4 and the Topix wanna-be's rip him like they actually have any football knowledge. How are you fools going to back out of your mis-guided OPINIONS. Pay attention little boys, cause at the end of the season I'm going to call all of you out by name. The ones that don't pay attention to how the typical first year starters do alot worse that 8-4!!

No question, if Jackson is the real deal,
Other than injury, I only see our R. guard and tackle being a problem.
Other than that, I see us taking the North with ease and probably the Conference.

don't worry about herrera and Cook. Another year of solidarity to build on the highest ypc to any direction (thats right, vikings runs to the right gained more yards per carry than any other team in any other direction in the league) plus training camp and preseason should help the pass blocking. Herrera wouldn't havae commanded an extension if he wasn't worth it.

I'd worry about the other side lol

I think his 8-4 record was helped substantially by AD and the defense. Pretty rare that a team is able to rush for more yards in a game than it gains passing, but it seems to me that it happened more than a few times for the purple last year. The defense also was no slouch. The jury is definitely out on TJack, and this is definitely the make or break year for him. Should make for an interesting season.

I agree about Herrera, especialy towards the end of the season. While not looking to be a Probowler, he held his own. Cook is still a big question mark tho. The depth (Hicks and Johnson) don't impress me much either.

We'll be fine on the left side if McKinky doesn't go to jail...

All in all, I'd hate to be anyone other than the Vikings in the NFC north the next couple of years, because we're going to own it!

All he needs to do is manage the game. No one expects him to make it a win, like a Farve or Montana. If he can go out and throw for 200 yards and complete 60 percent of his passes. I'll be happy as a clam.

I'm still looking for playoff tickets.
The so called weaknesses don't exist and we'll have a record number of pro bowlers.
Tampa is 80 miles from where I live and come Super Bowl week I'll be hanging out.

If the Vikes go to the SB this year, AFTER you have made that move to Florida AND you get tickets, you're going to look like a freaking genius! lol

The one cryptic comment about TJax "clearing his head in the offseason," was from Pat Williams. Pat Williams isn't used to pulling his punches for quarterbacks! But seriously, folks, I think that was a reference to Tarvaris' early season concussion, and the probably continued bell-ringing that persists throughout a season after an injury like that. No, I think the comments were pretty favorable, all told, and the players are in a position to know more than we do.

Oops. It was Antoine Winfield made the "Clear his head" comment. Well, as a defender, he's out of sympathy with QBs too.

The only reason the Vikes will do any good this year is because of AD and the defense, not T Jack, who is dummer than a box of rocks. All he has to do is hand off the ball and get out of the way. And maybe try a couple long passes, thats it. Any high school QB could do that.

Any comments by the teammates of T Jack are purely for the public. You really think they would tell us if they dislike T Jack?? Not.
