The Mets problem is not talent. It is heart and drive. If they had a few more level headed, hard working ballplayers like David Wright nobody could stop them. Also the pitching across the entire league sucks. Contraction is the only answer. How is it possible that neither the Yankees nor the Mets have 4 solid starters?

Well the Mets sleepwalk thru another one, its getting easier every day to change the channel when they're on, theres talent here but Willie isnt bringing it out, saw where Wally Backman is managing in the independant league in Georgia, this guy is gritty & paying his dues again, he's a winner & wouldn't stand for this lackluster play, Hey Omar, are you listening?????????

If there were more than 12 people at Shea, there'd be noise and no one would hear Bad Acta and the Gnats cheer like little Rags fans. Whatever, Mets are a .500 club---they need thick-skinned players with cojones. Reyes has to stop skiiing. And those Pengui...3-0...

If the Wilpons had any stones, they would fire Willie and Tony Bernazard. The latter would send a nice message to Omar.

Willie's a quality guy but it's just not working.

Go hard after Texiera. It's basically between the Mets and Yankees. It would be foolish to let him slip away when he becomes a free agent at the end of the year. The Mets already have a nice relationship with Boras.
Totally agree, but here in Atlanta they love Texeria and he is from the Atlanta area. I bet the Braves' number one priority is resigning him to a long term contract, and he'll probably take less money to stay in Atlanta. I don't believe he'll ever come on the market except for his agent to bid up the cost to the Braves. I think the Braves want him for another 5-6 years. I just don't see him moving from Atlanta. I think Adam LaRoche could be had from the Pirates. Great glove at first but a real streaky hitter.

I think Texiera actually has some family in the NY area so that may sway him a little. The money Boras will be seeking will probably knock the Braves out of the picture no matter how much Texiera loves it there. As good as Texiera is the Braves need bullpen help. They have lost more one run games in the last two seasons than anybody. The Braves have a lot of work to do with that team. Franceour has been a major letdown this year also.

It is completely true. The Mets thought they were getting a guy with great stuff that they could turn around. Unfortunately he is a complete loser. The move actually would have been great so I can't blame the Mets for making it. Oliver Perez + complete disappointment.

Joe Smith was just sent down to AAA. Not Jorge Sosa...but Joe Smith. NO, this isn't a joke.
This team is going absolutely nowhere this year and it honestly is time for the fanbase to start coming to terms with it. Your life will be much less stressful.
We have a manager and GM that are run by veteran favortism, spanish players, and money. That doesn't win anything. We toss aside Joe Smith, who outside of Wagner is clearly our best reliever. I'm at a loss for words. You send down your best reliever and keep Jorge Sosa who is absolutely worthless to this team. Why is that Omar? You have some explaining to do....Shea is only going to get more and more hostile with these types of moves, and this type of play.
Furthermore, this is following a complete beat down last night from one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. 2-2 on a homestand vs 2 of the worst teams in MLB. Awesome. The Mets will never get more than 5 games over .500 They are as medicore as a team gets. Just wait for Philly to go on their run...the Mets will be eating their dust, and not even sniffing the playoffs come September.
It's almost Memorial Day people. Nothing is going to change. This is the team your paying for. Willie Randolph, at the very least needs to be shown the door. He clearly has lost his players, and his motivational techniques are garbage.
You ask "why is that Omar" The answer is , that Minaya is ans arrogant S O B who has never once admitted he was wrong about any of his moves. Dump Sosa and he is admitting he threw the Wilpon's 2 mil in the toilet.
I also would like to know why Randope stuck with Figueroa that long. Randolph should be gone by the allstar break.
Delgado continues to look like the opposite of Keith Hernandez at 1st. That's being kind. You can't live with that kind of defense at 1st if the player is hitting .230.

Texeira is from Baltimore. Which is a long way from Atlanta. He will be a Yankee next year. The Yankees will be dropping almost 100 mil in payroll at the end of this season.

Yeah, you could be right, it may be his wife's family is from the Atlanta area but the Braves' announcers talked about his Atlanta connection. Could be that the Yanks can throw enough money at him and he was an American League player, but he tells the Braves how much he loves Atlanta, and I think they figure they'll be able to resign him. the Braves average around 3 million fans a year so I would assume they will be pretty generous with him if they have to be. I just think the Mets will need to look elsewhere if Delgado goes.

Xavier Nady was no chump when he was with the Padres. A good solid ballplayer but I am glad Church is in right. I like Church as much as Nady.

Church has been a great addition as well as Shneider. It is about time the Mets have a solid backstop. Piazza couldn't throw and LoDuca is not good with a pitching staff. Not only that LoDuca could only hit in the two spot. Piazza was obviously an animal at the plate.

All I see is a mediocre ballclub underachieving the rest of the sesaon.unless os course, they finally fire Willie, or anything else that will shake things up.the thing thats gets me is the lack of passion and desire on this team. when they fall behind by 3 or more runs, they don't even fight back.they look like they are sleepwalking out there.

Whatever! Don't spin the blame here. How about the facts that Figueroa could'nt consistantly throw strikes againist a subpar lineup last night, and his fielding was brutal as well. How about his family acting like the ghetto trash from cooney island drinking out of champagne bottles in the luxury box while figueroa was walking the ballpark and getting peppered by the opposing pitcher. Get your Ducks uniform ready. How much longer do Mets fans have yo put up this medicrity? Willie has to go! Larry Bowa in 2009!!
