I knew him and his mom and he was a great kid. i mean a kid a mom always dream of, u know u have these kids out here that do not want to go to school want to hang out side not him. He wanted to go to shool and he was set that he was going to do something with his life and that he was going to get his mom out the park, When i go and pick up his mom to go u always see him on the basket ball court, not like other kids hanging out, always doing somehting the right thing, He is really going to be missed. i alway say that god take the good ones and he has took an good one this time,

Another senseless act of violence...I couldnt imagine this being one of my children. I cant even think about what I would do in her position. My prayers go out to her family.

This is such a tragedy. I am so sick of the violence in this country. I am especially sick of hearing good kids' lives being taken. Something has got to change. My thoughts and prayers are with Derrius Walton's friends and family.

I AM SO TIRED OF TURNING ON THE NEWS AND SEEING ANOTHER ONE OF CHILDREN GONE IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE IN A SENSELESS KILLING. ONE OF OUR CHILDREN WITH SOOOO MUCH OF A WONDERFUL FUTURE AHEAD OF HIM. MY ONLY SON HAS JUST JOINED THE MILITARY AND I WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO HIM. I COMMENDED THESE KIDS WHO HAVE SET GOALS FOR THEMSELVES AND WHO ARE STRIVING HARD FOR THEIR DREAMS ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO ALWAYS LOOK OUT FOR THEIR MOM FIRST. MY HEARTFELT THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE WALTON FAMILY, JUST REMEMBER YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ANGEL LOOKING AFTER YOU.

He was a well liked young man that we meet at First Baptist West Munden Church in Chesapeake, VA, as the church came together to help out another youth in our community trying to make something better out of his life for him and his family.My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. You will always have a special place at First Baptist West Munden Church. To all youth the VIOLENCE must stop its killing to many of young men and woman!!!!

Why is it that members of organized athletics are doled upon when they become victims of gun violence? I ask this because, to date, WAVY TV 10 has NEVER covered a story about local shooting matches (at which, there are NO gun related crimes). There certainly is a lot more about guns that is noble, not the sensationalized news stories that you see fit to cover and comment upon with liberal tones.

From what i see he looked to be a very nice looking fellow with a GOOD head on his shoulders it hurts to know that you can't even go out and have a good time anymore it always have to be a showstopper in the crowd somewhere and it's ridiculous to know! I will be praying for the family, sorry about the lost.

May God be with the family of this young man. I could not imagine burying my son for this senseless mess. I know that this young man knew God and he is now walking on streets of gold. I am so sorry that his life had to end this way, but I am ELATED that his souls was saved! I pray for the youth who are still lost in this world!Hoefully, this tragedy will be used to bring another young soul to the great LORD!
