Either your baseball field...
or Fire, Police or Ambulance...Which I ask you Mayor are more urgent in a border city surrounded by drug runners and human trafficking alien smugglers?
Yes the BB field is nice and improvement over the dirt lot littered with rocks and the green grass that now contributes to less dust in the area.
But spending so much on this, when your police department was in shambles, shortages on fuel and turmoil in the Fire Department with changing leadership again... Just what are your Mayors priorities again?
Not worried about the border? Spends more time in a dentist chair in Mexico rather than spending it at Deming's dental services? I know your contempt and confrontational issues with the National Gaurd and you didn't want them here. You did not want a border fence either. Why?
Are you one of those who believe that smuggled humans are like sheep being led to a slaughterhouse... they were born sheep so therefore they are sheep? In other words, these smuggled people were born poor and destitute so they may be held to servitude since they are uneducated destitute and poor?
I have been waiting to hear how you stand on immigration issues since you were elected and since you are right on the front doorstep and a hispanic. You say nothing. Why?
What have you been hiding Mayor?

The priority here is not with Police or Fire or Ambulance services for those who need them... The priority here is to create another task or chore for the water department, Mr. Gomez, to attend to in order to keep him away from drug smuggling.

Tell Columbus Mayor Ed, I know how he can help the town budget out. Quit using his village issued car to run his kids to Deming High School and his dialysis treatment in Deming. That should save a few bucks.

Dusty it appears that you have a good handle on the Mayor, and perhaps even more of what is taking place in Columbus? If you in fact do and would care to swap some stories in person let me know here and we can arrange a meeting. Its no news that Ed uses his car to do his personal stuff. Village has always used cars for personal stuff. One of the city hall employees uses village patrol car to drive to and from work. Before to long they will be in the red. Before the village had 3 people at City Hall, now they have at City Hall 6 people. Someone either used to do good work, or some of the employees are not doing their work. Then the police department drive the he police cars to and from home everyday in deming. I have an economical car, and I use about a gallon one way, the cost of gas so high who wants to drive their personal car. Maybe that money could be uilized to make more improvements in the village. But to each their own.

You know doggone well it was.(Gunfire) Thats why Bobby G. won't go there right now and why he's probably shaking in his departmental-purchased-issued- work-related-boots. And thats why his sister(s) will avoid traveling there for a few days and thats why the Mayor will avoid getting his tooth pulled for a week or two... until they can figure out which side is winning. I bet they are praying that their side is. Is "Pepe" Coss still alive Mayor? You remember him, your next door neighbor for 15 years before he was deported for a drug conviction? Does he still visit your good friend at the La Fronteria shop, Victor Zizumbo? I bet your wishing right now your first Chief of Police Paul Armijo didn't sell off those bullet proof vests and guns before he got caught huh? Speaking about Paul, I heard he beat that rap. Time limits ran out cause the DA Newell "forgot" to prosecute him. Ha! You ought to hire him back! That should make headlines again.

Are you telling me Bobby G is still alive after all those loads he and Victor lost. Is Norma still in the pen? Sounds like Columbus could use a little population control just as palomas (SIC) is experiencing.

Yeah I know alright :) It's refreshing to see another as informed as Dusty Reader on here! dear ole Bobby like the many other drug smuggling rats of Columbus that have been stashing and moving the stuff for the VC for years, are fast finding out that the NVA do business a bit differently huh :) Perhaps as The Bunny's brother has done, these rats should consider taking a vacation to parts unknown as well........ The sad part for the decent folks living in Columbus however is that they won't. They feel safe there in Columbus and probably will cling to it's apron strings thinking that the gunfire will not find them there. I think they are probably wrong in that thinking however, and the gunfire will find them, and probably some of their neighbors because it most likely will be a train hit, fast and swift. The shooters will most likely arrive after dark in several vehicles, with each car having it's list of targets and address as where to find the targets. Or perhaps a prearranged gathering, a party perhaps with most of the targets in attendance? A few grenades and lots of bullet riddled bodies later, the Hit Parade will exit town on SR 11 at a high rate of speed, and within two minutes are safe back in Palomas, they proceed down main street to the South edge of town where they make a right turn, and just.......disappear. Just a matter of time. Just a matter of time. Art <quoted text> It would be a right turn and "then a left to the next corner just to the left side or the local Palomas jail." How else do they dissappear that fast. 2 minutes? your not giving them enought credit, 60-90 seconds. I believe if this were an actual event, they would ditch the stolen cars they use just south of the auto parts place, have a few cars waiting on the Mex side, and just leave everything behind. The guns and hand-grenades you speak of are already on the US side. No need to smuggle them across. And I bet they will be from TJ-Nogales area. Driving through the Mex POE? Not unless they paid the mordida in advance.
