For the first three responders you are all negative and don't know must about baseball. The Cubs won a wild card last year.
And how did that end up panning out?

PLEASE do not let Matt Murton go. Please. He is going to hit .300 with a .375 OBP and 20 HR's every year. He is the exact kind of player that the A's and the Twins used to get year after year of playoff appearances while the Cubs sat at home every October. Also, he will be another in the *long* line of good young players who the Cubs let go to other teams in favor of over-the-hill veterans and "flashy" prospects who never pan out.

If they do trade Murton, Fukudome had better start showing us something that he hasn't yet. Because otherwise, Murton becomes a necessity for this team.

Come Spring I'm "geeked" dude. I love the Cubbies and every season I'm very positive. I feel good about this year. It is a dang on shame however, that we play Spring Training in a hot/warm climate and then come to Wrigley where you guys know it is Winter until June 21. I mean, our key then is to win games in the 20 degrees to 45 degree weather with high wins, snow, etc. We have never came out of the gate so well. If the weather could cooperate just a we bit fellows. Come on this April, May weahter is very hard on our pitchers/hitters etc.. Yes, I know other teams have to play us in it, but I wish we played the bulk of our games in warm climates in at least April, then more at home in May and even out the rest of the year.

Gracie: I like the French connection too but giving 100% isn't enough for me. I like our guys to give 110 to 150% except on double headers when they owe me only 55 to 75% each game.

Sully's article was about Fontenot, primarily, and I am pleased he made the team. He reminds me a lot of Augie Ojeda back in the Baylor days -- he always gave one hundred per cent effort at everything. I've noticed Augie still does that for the DB's.
I also like the comfort level which exists between Fontenot and Theriot. They've played together so long their moves and expectations of each other are practically intuitive. That cannot possibly be a bad thing. No team is perfect, but I think Lou made an excellent decison on keeping Fontenot.

See how easily it rolls off your tounges you losers?
Hey, Dougie boy....name ONE ballclub that DOESN't start their season with questions. Here's one for you.......will Ben Sheets pitch this year, or will he spend the year on the DL.....again. The brewers will be CHASING the Cubs ALL year, and will be looking at them from 3rd place at best. By the way, when Fielder goes down you can stop thinking that even .500 is a possibility. Thay guy is two Big Mac's from 300 and will be suspended for eating the opposition's bat boy!

Doug, you post the same crap in just about every forum. I'm sorry your team didn't have the balls to sustain a division lead all season, but you don't have to bring Soto, Theriot, and Pie into it. They had nothing to do with your collapse. Until the end of the '08 season, you're the biggest loser. Where were you before last season anyway? Probably hiding under a rock like most other Brewers fans.

I don't think Cedeno earned a spot on the roster Paul. He kinda got by default like running out of minor league options.

Question is here, why so many relief pitchers in the beginning of the season?
Cubs have a great number of quality relief right handers, and the only legiate Lefty, Erye, is on the DL. Marshall will do for now. Like to see a stonger establish #3 starter. Cubs have about four or five #4 starters on this team.
Cubs will have 90 wins this season.
Anyone want to talk about this trade scenerio -----
Cubs trade Murton, Lahey, Cedeno, Gallagher, Veal and Marquis to the Marlins for Scott Olsen, Dan Uggla and Josh Willingham.
Hey i'm all for any trade that gets rid of Cedeno, Murton and Marquis.

Greg,

What are you smoking? Murton is an okay bat, for sure, but 20 HRs a year? The closest he's had is 13 in 2006. His BA lifetime is about .296. His OBP probably is close to .365, but so what? He's not a speed guy, He can't play right field... period. He doesn't have the arm strength to do it. So, at best he's a platoon guy in left.

I'm not saying he's horrible, but I'm not going to lose sleep if Murton is not on this team.

Greg -- I use 100% as the maximum effort, because there is no such thing as more than that in human effort. I think we mean the same thing here. The phrasing differs.

I am so tired of you people saying that the Cubs over paid for this guy and that guy. No they paid them what the market was worth and who cares. And to Louis G Atsaves who thinks that Kosuke will do a little more than Murton, your crazy. heres a news flash for all you retards MATT MURTON SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! Give it a rest already he's a typical 4A player who horrible in the OF and grounds into doubles plays every other at bat. This is the best team we have had since 03, difference is its younger, faster, and better at defense. Not as powerful but the speed, youth, and overall talent make this a BASEBALL TEAM.

Bad move!! Keeping Cedeno who's never done much of anything and dumping Murton who's worked his butt off for this team AND plays well.
That's the Cubs for you...
