It's a tale of two cities. Just like Chicago papers are praising the Bears for playing well, Indiana papers must be scorching the Colts for a horrible performance. Frankly, the Bears did a good job but the Colts did play horribly - turned the ball over, had multiple dumb penalties, wasted several timeouts, Dungy's replay challenges were ill-advised, and Peyton Manning looked out of sync.
ANOTHER NOTE: I really worry that this team (especially the defense) just doesn't have the mentality to be a champion. Judging from their postgame quotes, it is clear that they worry way too much about what the press says about them. Also, the minute they experience any success, they let it go to their head and believe all their newspaper clippings about how great they are. True champions are perfectionists and don't have this mentality.
1. We made them play horribly, collapsing the pocket and playing the D we know.

2. We had more dumb penalties than they did.

3. They didn't turn the ball over, we took it away. Nice strip, Peanut.

Challenges were ill-chosen and Peyton was definitely out of sync. Just glad we played him in his first game back. Bring on the Panthers

JerseyBoy, you clearly missed the game and just looked at the box score. The first fumble was Kreutz's fault (bad snap...REALLY bad snap) and the second was due to a botched block by the line. Neither was even remotely Orton's fault, and no QB could have avoided them.

Orton looked shakey in the first quarter. After that, he played well. He completed roughly 65% of his passes.'Nuff said.

Grossman would have thrown 3 picks and found a way to lose.

Not even Olin Kreutz can stop us now!!!!
Hey, where are the articles from 5th graders telling Orton how to handle a snap?
The Colts are really not that great, so don't start counting chickens yet. This team looks good enough to win the division though, and from there, who know?
We do need better play from Payne and Mike Brown. Those guys were inconsistent, so it was good that Manning was rusty.

Here we go. Who would have thought that Brady could be lost for the season, chargers lose, cardinals win on the road, and colts lose to the bears. I guess it goes to show anyone can get lucky on any given sunday. Good job by Matt Forte. Truly the only offense they really had. Their top yards receiver is desmond clark? 2 catches for 46 yards. Take it easy Kyle, your just tearing up the NFL stat books. Thankfully for chicago, colts offense looked lethargic.

goodness gracious, it's one game against an injured qb and his broken offensive line.
The win is great and unexpected, the defense's performance is great and unexpected, Forte's performance is great and unexpected......but it's one game. Anybody slating this team for a division championship is delusional.
Great win, but that bumps the season expectations to 8-8. Good luck performing miracles in Minnesota or Green Bay.
If they broken ,they shouldn't have been playing...no excuses, we went in indy and played our game and won!!!!!GO BEARS!!!!!

Th defense and running game won this game for the Bears. Orton did a fine job "managing the game", despite two throws that should have been intercepted, and a few throws
short and over the WR heads. Orton played, well, like Orton. Nothing flashy, but good enough to win with Forte and the defense having very solid performances. Be cautious about the win, though, as Orton was never really pressured, and a more aggressive defense may have better luck against this o-line. If the o-line can continue to open holes for Jones and Forte, we may stand a chance to have a decent season. But Turner is going to have to learn how to open defenses up with the threat of a long ball game. Otherwise the defenses will play a shorter field, and the limitations of Orton's abilities will start to become a real factor.

Congrats to the Bears.
I have to admit that I was one of the skeptics.

Good job to everybody on the team.

- saw some blitzes from Urlacher and Briggs. yeah

- congrats to Angelo for getting rid of Benson. It's refreshing to watch Forte.

- congrats to Lovie for picking Orton. Funny, the game was unfolding similar to the Super Bowl, but instead of doing something spastic like Grossman, Orton kept his cool and we didn't do anything stupid!

- Tillman - great strip of the ball from Harrison.

and they did it despite a bad game from Hester.

Nice job

Well played first game. The Bears played better football than I thought they were capable. Like many, I have expressed very little use for Bob Babich. However, his defense played with passion and purpose and gave me, for the first time this year, some hope that the season wont be an entire swirly. Good luck next week. GO BEARS!

This is a GREAT day in Bears History!! The Bears didn't just beat the Colts last night. No, what they actually did was they beat the Colts despite incredible doubt and outright DISGUST from ALL of the Chicago media and MOST of their fair-weathered fan base. I've read and written on countless blogs this past offseason and lamented as so-called experts from Chicago demanded the immediate firing of Jerry Angelo, Lovie Smith, Ron Turner, and Bob Babich! This was THEIR victory. And shame on all of the geniuses that will come out of the woodwork now, pretending that they had never doubted this team once. It may be only one win, but this one belongs to Virginia McCaskey and the entire Bears' front office. They truly earned this one all off season! GO BEARS!!!

The line looked good, St Clair was tested and passed.

Forte is solid

Screen, run delays, passing at the right times. Turner called a good game.

WAY TO GO BEARS!!

Not to sound like some blabbering fan, but I pegged them to be 10-6 this season. The division is as wide open as it can be. Orton is more polished than Rodgers, Jackson or Kitna. The defense was banged up last season but is on a mission. Special teams is not as good as the last two seasons. Forte will have a great season just as Adrian Peterson had last year.

That said, I like our chances verses a pretty easy schedule.

Bears vs. Steelers in Super Bowl!!!!

Da Bears!!

Roll off of Mr. Haugh. If Indy won this game 28-3, I and the rest of the football world would not have been surprised. The only ones who thought the Bears would win like this, were the Bears themselves and biased fans. This was a surprise. Orton is not a good QB. He is just a safe QB. Once we play a team that shuts down our running game, we will see all the throws he cannot make. If we had a decent OL, then Grossman would be a Pro Bowler just like the first 8 games of 2006.

The worst thing is seeing the Chicago media and so-called Bears fans on these sites trying to save face by mentioning Mannings lack of playing time this offseason or the Colts' O-Line being banged up. You are the same people who wouldn't give the Bears a pass for their injuries last year and instead railed against the team for their inability to draft people who can stay healthy! Yes, it was only one game. Yes, Peyton's coming off a knee injury. But so is Harris, Dvorecek, and Mike Brown. SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE! You can admit that you jumped ship a minute too soon! Let REAL BEARS FANS enjoy this moment!! The Bears might not win the division, but then again they might! I Like our chances!! GO BEARS!!!!

One win? They played a team that was out of sync. You have already forgiven management after one win?

Dave: Get more creative with your headlines; it looks like your taking advice from an eight year old!

Same old crappy Orton! Can only manage 150 yards passing. You won't go far against the Panthers, and by the way; this team is ready to take on the one dimensional offense!

Let's see how excited you guys are after next week. These guys just beat San Diego and by the looks of chicago's passing game, they need not worry about a passing threat.

Great job by Matt Forte, and the Bears defense, who won the game for chicago. Great game, but the Panthers D will be to much for them. Good luck!

Randy, Roll off of Mr. Orton! The Colts didn't win 28-3. If they had, these blogs would again be filled with people demanded the replacement of 95% of the team and 100% of the Team's leadership. Orton may not be Brady, but I bet the Pats would love to have him right now! GO BEARS!!!
