Bears gushing in Lucas Oil opener

Without question Lucas Oil Stadium's retractable roof, which can close and open in 10 minutes, and its largest movable window wall in the world, open Sunday night, make it an architectural work to behold.

hipocrits, haugh you know orton played like trash tonight fumbling the ball 2, throwing the ball high or at wrs. feet. we won the game inspite of orton so stop making it seem like his 150 yds did anything. call his play steady all you want but you same well wishers in here are going to be the ones bashing orton in a few weeks. besides his pretty handoffs he looked scared and confused. oh to you orton fans pocket pressence he had none because he stood right there the whole time waiting to get hit rather than releasing the ball. he sucks period. but anyway i'm happy we won inspite of that bum

I watched the game on deployment here in Afghanistan and that was one hell of a morale boost! Forte has really impressed me even in training camp with his dedication and humility. I hope that the 3 yard return brings Hester down to earth a little. It's just the beginning of the season, but I'm excited to see what's next from DA BEARS!!!

Lovie is a psychological master. The Bears defense basicaly thrives on being 'the underdog'. It makes complete sense (now) for this team to coast through the preseason and lower expectations. When expectations are so low (and the team is semi-healthy), that's when they shine (in particualr the defense). Chicago media, I almost perfer if you go back to all of the negative press. For the sake of our team!

The Cubs need to watch the game film of a team with a mission and were focused for the entire game no ops I miised the brought it on and if they keep that chip they can be a real dangerous team.

"Who knew?"

WHO KNEW ?!!!

We did Mr. Haugh. WE DID !! Bears fans who know how to read pre-season, as in DON'T. The OL warmed up pre-season, the Defense didn't get bad overnight, and Kyle showed us a little something during those four weeks. I haven't read one sportswriter in Chicago who understands the game and is able to correctly perceive what they see. Especially Rick "second-stringer" Morrisey. Thank you my beloved Bears for making the journos eat their band-wagon nay-saying articles. Tampa Bay. Tampa Cover 2. Superbowl. Go Bears.

Which quarterback were you watching? Your comments are more appropriate for Peyton Manning than for Orton tonight.

I don't know about super bowl tickets just yet! but it was a very nice win, I enjoyed it.

No sports writer/commentator I read picked the Bears to win, it was nice to see the "Arm-Chair-Scribblers " wrong!:P

The Bears are hungry and the Vikings and Packers won't have it as easy as they hoped...

It's a tale of two cities. Just like Chicago papers are praising the Bears for playing well, Indiana papers must be scorching the Colts for a horrible performance. Frankly, the Bears did a good job but the Colts did play horribly - turned the ball over, had multiple dumb penalties, wasted several timeouts, Dungy's replay challenges were ill-advised, and Peyton Manning looked out of sync.

ANOTHER NOTE: I really worry that this team (especially the defense) just doesn't have the mentality to be a champion. Judging from their postgame quotes, it is clear that they worry way too much about what the press says about them. Also, the minute they experience any success, they let it go to their head and believe all their newspaper clippings about how great they are. True champions are perfectionists and don't have this mentality.

goodness gracious, it's one game against an injured qb and his broken offensive line.
The win is great and unexpected, the defense's performance is great and unexpected, Forte's performance is great and unexpected......but it's one game. Anybody slating this team for a division championship is delusional.
Great win, but that bumps the season expectations to 8-8. Good luck performing miracles in Minnesota or Green Bay.

It's a little early for Bears' players to be trotting out the "Nobody gave us a Chance " routine. They beat a rusty QB missing his starting center. A good win but spare us the "Now do You believe ?" comments until the end of the year.

JerseyBoy's a moron. Fumbled snap was the Center's fault. Did you see Orton scramble to get them within range for the FG? Grouseman would have been broken in half. Did you see Orton hitting Olson in stride for another? Grooseman would have thrown a pick. Get off the TCB-laced doobage or root for Detroit.

Haugh, you useless P.O.S. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN! As someone who is as close to the Bears as anyone not actually on the payroll it's your JOB to know, and to tell us! The Trib should trade you to the Milwaukee Journal for a box of pens and a writer to be named later.
