Your post was extremely interesting and thought-provoking.......but perhaps a little over the top in application to this incident. |

1 I want to beat you badly and that is saying something. You have said many things that are offensive here towards Black women, but this is the worst. NUMBER ONE manhood cannot be taken from a man. Not a real one. Not even from an overprotective mother. Why would a man's "manhood" be threatened b/c his mother wants to baby him? My mother is very overprotective of me (and if you knew my family you would understand why) and I never felt "threatened"...I just felt she was taking the mom thing too far. NUMBER TWO there is no mother, ANYWHERE,whose set agenda is to emasculate her son. What IS on these women's minds is "oh my God, if he marries that girl she will hurt him and take all his money" or "I better pick my son up because it is raining and he might get wet and catch cold and get pneumonia and die". Overprotective parents simply imagine things to be worse than what they are, they don't intend to HARM their children. Did you see, of all things, Finding Nemo? My God, you just want to display Black women as evil. Being overprotective has nothing to do with a woman trying to hurt her child. What is wrong with you? |

Hey girl. I am sorry but he didn't have to use those EXACT words. She probably just was worried he'd be hurt. |

Hey again. How are you, by the way? I just want to be clear: MY MOTHER is the epitome of "lady" and so are all the women in my family, save one. She never would have done that. BUT I am looking at her background and this was probably her way of helping - however, misguided. Also, I am sorry but I come from the school of "you do not correct your elders". Not even when they are "wrong". I was told not to correct teachers, older people, etc whatever... So I have a hard time with this. |

1 you are beyond hope to "explain" anything too..you just want to believe what you believe because for small minds, simple beliefs fit better. just a quick example: This practice is not widespread in Africa, most of the cases are in South Africa where ignorance is king. Could aparthied have ANYTHING to do with the ignorance of Black? However it satisfies the little mind to continue to believe in the propaganda used by european racist that Africans are "primative", "savage" and supersitious.(if you are christian welcome to the club)... But this practice is also done in other countries and please note one central "origin" of this myth: India, with an estimated 3 million plus HIV/Aids sufferers, along with Thailand, both largely patriarchal societies, also has entrenched the so-called Virgin Cure within its belief systems. The myth of the Virgin Cure has a rich and culturally diverse history stretching back to 16th century Europe, and more prominently to be found in 19th century Victorian England, where, in spite of the emphasis on morality, rectitude and family values, there existed a widespread belief, that sexual intercourse with a virgin was a cure for syphilis, gonnorhea,[and other STD's]. Syphilis, like HIV/Aids, was fatal in its terminal stages. In the Eastern Cape of South Africa, when a significant outbreak of STD's was spread by troops returning home from overseas after WWII, the Virgin Cure was widely sought among the population. http://www.scienceinafrica.co.za/2002/april/v... ---------- Small minds are a danger to all.. and the rest of that garbage diatribe you wrote I won't deal with if you don't mind.. vote Obama!!! |

1 HE is ghetto. His name is LeBron. He needs to accept his background. Million dollar checks do not make class...not even in him. The "ghetto brawd" was his MOTHER, not some hoodrat wanting to hook up for the night. If HE cannot accept that his mother isn't a "debutante" or something, then his issues go deeper than even I imagine. If HE is so ashamed of her, why doesn't he just have her stay home? I don't care if his mother was drunken or homeless or a prostitute or a foul mouthed "hussy"...it is still his MOTHER and that is that. |
agreed, coming from a player and a mother of a player ;) |

At some point intelligence MUST kick in...so must the need to be independent and leave the nest. I could go live with my parents or stepparents today if I wanted. My grandparents thought the sun rose and set by my breath. Seriously, my grandmother would get a job, AT HER AGE, if she THOUGHT I needed money. Half of my family thinks of me as their little "baby". My mother STILL tries to hold my hand as we cross the street. I am 36 years old and married, with a 4 year old and another on the way! I have always been independent and if my family knew some of the situatons I had been in for excitement and whatnot, they would have died. |

One of the few times Elite and I agree. Mamas never stop worrying about their "babies" even when they are 6'6" and charging down the court... or waving a pistol around in a titty-club... LOL And sons never stop worrying about their mamas. We are nothing without our family. Each one of us. |

Yeah I understand what she was doing I am sure she is a though lady. And I didn't think about what you are saying here. But you are right when you don't have a man around to defend yourself you learn to be though. However I have been around the black community all my adult life and I am 54 years old. And the love for Mama is usually pretty strong. And the name..lol you got that one right. I think he was really scared of her getting booted from his games and he went into overdrive because of that fear. BUT...He should not have talked to her like that. I wonder if he was raised with the lack of respect for her? |

"Mama, please SIT DOWN!!" would've been much more respectable. But if she didn't raise him to say "Please," how's he gonna know?? LOL! |

What I was trying to say in my earlier post, and I hope you made that inference, is that just because someone WILL do something doesn't mean you have to take it...men hit on me and women throw themselves at my husband all the time, but we don't CHEAT on each other. Now I will agree that "baby boy" needs to be taught how to be a man. I addressed this on another thread. But when you look at these women who are "taking care" of their sons, men, etc. they come from that SAME background...they saw their mothers and aunts take care of people too. At some point, people with overprotective relatives have to seek independence for themselves. |

I am here...lol Yeah, you are absolutely right. He probably just was running on adrenaline at that point in the game. But boy would someone in my fam have caught it if they said that to their mother. Every uncle in my family would have descended on that venue and he would have needed security "fuh real". |
You could quite possibly be the first Black person I've ever heard that wants to ignore history. Or maybe that's just because I'm bringing up an inconvenient aspect of it that doesn't sit into your world view of blame whitey? |
