I'm sure she provided for his needs and she should be commended for this, but that changes nothing as far as her psychological deep seeded views and feeling towards black men.
This is one unseen aspect of white supremacy that tears the black family apart.
Let me give you a real example. Where I live in the "south" there are young men here who have no motivation because racism is a PART..(please not the entire") of their reasons for not gettting jobs..however:
They don't really need a "job" because their mothers, aunts, female cousins, and girlfriends will feed them and give them a place to live becaue they are so "helpless", "confused" and just can't handle the big bad white man's racism. When they get tired of staying with one, they'll move to another and the cycle continues.(a remeant of the African extended family concept)...
but in THIS culture, with these systems of white supremacy, this is dangerous for young black men but black women, especially mothers, think they are helping by not allowing her son, who is weakned by racism, stand up..
That's is why I THINK James told he not just to sit down, but shit her azz down. It was a reaction to her "protecting" of this black man..
anyway, it makes no difference, people just think what they feel make them comfortable...
