The problem is that anything that would stop anyone has at least some recoil. a, say,.22 will kill an intruder...eventually, but it wouldn't stop him. But, it has less recoil.

But,.38s are handleable and practical. I agree with your son. The longer the barrel, the greater the spin on the bullet, so the more accurate. No snub-noses. And, revolvers don't jam, like automatics do. You don't want to be unjamming your gun, at a critical time.

I also recommend a local gun safety class. Strongly! They'll also teach you how to clean and maintain it.

Pit Bulls are taught to be mean, I'm so sick of hearing nothing but bad crap about them, I've had 6 Pits and my kids were raised up around them, my 9 year old son had his own Pit (Zeus) and they were the best of friends. I never once thought about fighting them as I'm a lover not a fighter anyway and my love for my dogs ALMOST equalled that of my kids. Any dog can be mean, a fkn Dachshund can be mean, and yes I do have one of those too! HATE THE DEED, NOT THE BREED.

I know you don’t believe it with your college education, private house with back yard, but some people have no choice but to fight. They fight everyday (one fight is called the fight for survival) with and without refs.

I have a .38. But I would like to say guns are hard to get to in the spur of a moment. Last time I nearly got carjacked,I had my loaded gun,mace,knife,and couldn't get to any. I had to use my feet to get the person from the car. It taught me something about weapons. You can't say oh excuse me,I do have a weapon,hold that thought. I usually just keep it beside the bed for intruders I can hear. But the bullets are big enough to do something not just travel thru the body like a .22.

You will also note on other threads (not going to take the time to hunt them down, but they are there) he pretends to be offended by 'namecalling'. Yet he is blatantly calling one of the most straightforward posters on the MV forum a 'prick', because USA ROCKS calls him on his ambiguous statements--

To be honest, I believe SMITTY is another screen name alias for Buffoon. There aren't two people in this world who are as good at 'spin' and denying their own words as it appears that both Smitty and Buffoon are. They are one and the same, Smitty IS Buffoon.
