Woman recovering after pelican slams into face
An Ohio woman is recovering after a pelican slammed into her face while she was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

I've been going to Treasure Island for 36 years and pelicans have always fished in great numbers there. The fish deliberately swim round your ankles to get away from them but that never deterred the pelicans! I doubt the bird suddenly decided to attack a tourist, so perhaps swimmers should be more careful where they swim? Having said that, it must have hurt like hell and given her quite a shock! which is more than can be said for the poor dead bird. My sympathies to the swimmer.

Be more careful where they swim? You have oceans filled with stingray and scorpion fish to step on, sharks, barracudas, more seabirds than have existed in 100 years all of a sudden. Your suggestion is to swim only in indoor pools or small freshwater ponds?As for the bird it was natural selection at work- could have as easily been a rock or stump, sea turtle or dolphin, I feel nothing for the bird. |

Oh no Honey, they still call them Yankees! It is probably because those people from the North still think they are better - they come down to the south and critize us for the way we talk, how slow we move, how stupid we are - that is why we call them "da-m Yankees". Bless their hearts, they talk so funny themselves with that awful New Yawk thing they have, and that pushy way; and God Bless Them, they are so loud, I have to cover my ears, ladies shouldn't be so loud. No wonder all the NY men love the southern girls. |

Hey, theres some GOOD that happens when sea birds smash into girls faces as well. You see, back in High School this girl named Erma Crow who was incredibly UGLY got her face rammed into by a Comerant at a San Diego beach while she was in her dads jet boat. The doctors say the bird (flying with the wind) was doing 44 MPH and Erma 66 MPH so the impact was roughly 108 MPH (nautical MPH that is) Anyway she got a TON of plastic surgery and ended up Hunting Beach High Schools Prom Queen and she changed her name as well (Pam Anderson)

Maybe that's why the south lost, like they lose at everything. They rely on the wildlife to do the job for them while they practice accurate spitting.
