Wrigley Field, Chicago-According to eyewitness reports, Jennifer Holleman, 25, wants to leave the game now despite the difficulty and expense of obtaining tickets, the strong playoff implications of the contest, and the fact that the final result of the hotly contested tie game is still in doubt. "Are you still watching this? Or can we leave soon?" Holleman asked boyfriend Ian Pickett, who had been looking forward to the game for weeks and had in fact initially invited his best friend before finally being coerced by Holleman to bring her instead. "Let's go watch a movie or something. Or I could call Liz and Michelle and meet up at a bar that's playing the game there. Then you could still watch the end of the game. We've been here for an hour already and no one's even winning." Earlier in the evening, Pickett had missed the only scoring of the once-in-a-lifetime sporting epic while waiting in line at the gift shop to purchase a pink version of the home team's hat.

He was at 2nd base when he was introduced as a 2nd baseman - I heard nothing of DH.
He was standing right on second base when they introduced him as a designated hitter and not with the rest of the HOF second baseman like Carew et al. That's also why the designated hitters for the game Milton Bradley and Pujols came out to shake his hand and stand near him.

I thought that was kinda odd to see the DH's next to 2nd base. They should have been by home plate. Speaking of home plate, where was Fisk? When I think of the top 3, Fisk is one of them.

To me the All Star game has traditionally been a night when I hope no Cub or Sox player does anything too embarrassing. In that light, it was a fairly successful evening of baseball.

Don, I agree strange place to introduce designated hitters but guess they didn't want to get them clustered with the cathers which by the way looked like they almost forgot about. Fisk wasn't there (should have)and talk about another disrespect by the Yankees organization I didn't see Yaz out there with the outfielders.

Yea I heard it but he probably doesn't remember saying it. Surprised he wasn't out there with that Aflac Duck cradled in his arms.

Thank god that's over, and I thought it would never get started. Buck introduced everyone within a 10 mile radius of the park.
About the only people not honored were the players ex-wives and the nurse who changes Steinbrenner's diaper. Let's try streamlining next year.
It's a good thing that the Trib forums are democratic and let stupid people in. This was a one-time event, dedicated to the closing of Yankee Stadium, not an annual event. Second even if they did it every year, so what? It only happenes once a year in a game dedicated to the greatest names in the game. I enjoyed it. If you're not a baseball fan, why didn't you just switch channels? You do know how the remote works, right?

They could not introduce everyone and maybe not everyone they asked could be there. Johnny Bench was not there.
Others were not there. Let's not be too quick with assumptions. Personally, the thing that disappointed me was that I would have liked to see Whitey Ford throw a first pitch to Yogi Berra.

I would like to see one of the complainers here go to one of the major leaguers, honored to be there and playing hard, and tell them it was a shameful exhibition. I will come visit you in the hospital after you are justifiably beat over the head with a bat. In other sports, the game is a joke. The NBA All-Star game is a joke featuring no defense. The NFL game is a post-season joke with no real hitting and half the stars pulling out at the last moment. Baseball's game actually features players playing hard and getting dirty to win. Then the whiners come here and moan about the game, the presentation, and everything else. Please become water polo fans or something else and follow their game.

I have no problem telling someone they are doing poorly. If I pay to go to a game, I have the right to speak my mind. My little bit, as well as other fans contribute to their salary. And if you watched last nights game, there were too many errors. I expect 0 errors from an All-Star game. Uggla had how many by himself? And for someone who wants to get on us about baseball, you sure want to complain about the other sports. Have you taken your own advice and told those players of the sports you mentioned how you feel?

Actually, they wouldn't have gone into overtime at all had the umpires not made some mistakes. The AL just would have won sooner.
