It's the start of the second half of the season! And what a way to start it. The American League playing around with the minor league players, also known as the National League. Uggla was ugly, and Lidge did his usual part by blowing another big game. I could've come up with some t-ball players that look better than this mess. Although, Martin did his part by defending the plate. It also looks like the White Sox will have home field advantage at the World Series. As MLB puts it, "I love this game!" Except the part with the National League. Pitchers that bat... silly people.

FLASH - AL wints still another All-Star Game.
TRANSLATION - Should Cubs somehow manage to get into the Series, whomever they face will have 1) an advantage because they've won the American League Championship Series and, 2) they'll have the home team advantage.
Even when the All-Star game record was 11-4 when the NL finally won at Comiskey Park in the early '50's (and I was in the left field upper deck for the game) the NL was at least competitive in most of the lean years. They may be competitive by today's standards, but cearly by today's standards not as good.

Well it was nice to see that Marmol brought his best stuff. Now I just wish he'd resume doing so while pitching for the Cubs. Maybe this will be the confidence booster he needs to get back on track.

Thank god that's over, and I thought it would never get started. Buck introduced everyone within a 10 mile radius of the park.

About the only people not honored were the players ex-wives and the nurse who changes Steinbrenner's diaper. Let's try streamlining next year.

ROTFLMFGDAO!!! My thoughts exactly - I fell asleep when they took out Sheets. And as long as we're on the subject, why couldn't they find any more 2nd basemen besides Molitor? I mean, it was great to see Yount and Molitor in the same infield again, but only one guy?

Can't explain that. But if there were more 2nd basemen out there to honor so the ceremony could be dragged-out & more commercials squeezed-in, MLB would surely have found them

Other thoughts: Boggs, Brett and Yount looked like they could still play.

Molitor was being honored as a designated hitter and not a second baseman.

Selig is a jerk and is ruining baseball. I did not turn the EXHIBTION game on until the first pitch and turned it off after the ninth. I note I did not miss a thing of any interest or import. Home field advantage for the championship based on an EXHIBITION game. What a joke.

Congrats to the Cub pitchers. They all did well, and maybe it is a good sign of things to come for Marmol.

The hitters from both Chicago teams didn't exactly fare well. At least Ramirez got on base with a walk.

Man, Fukudome looked awful on that one strikeout. Embarrassing.

Wait, I think Uggla just made another error.......

Do you have any idea how they USED to select home field advantage for the WS? If you did, you probably wouldn't find the EXHIBITION so objectionable.

I still can't believe this game determines home field advantage for the World Series. In years past, it didn't matter, but now, well, who knows.

At least no Cubs player lost the game and no Sox player won the game.

Could Dan Uggla become the next Chuck Knoblauch? I mean, c'mon, through the wickets at an all star game?

For NL and AL fans alike...this exhibition game should not be the determinant of the home field advantage for the WS. This is true especially in a year where home field is so important (something like 4 teams in all of mlb are over 500 on the road).
As an NL fan, regardless of how good Edinson Volquez has been in the regular season, he is not going to even come close to sniffing the postseason, yet he had the NLCS champions fate in his hands. Similar argument holds for Joakim Soria on the AL side. To have players with no skin in the game in impactful roles is not fair to the teams that have a shot at the postseason and the WS.

Uglaa, wow was he bad last night. Glad the AL won the game, but 15 innings was way too much for me to handle.

Absolutely agree. They should determine who has world series home field by each team's interleague record and if it's a tie, then through something arbitrary like the all-star game. This year it would be a no-brainer with only the Mets in the NL having a winning record against AL teams who may have a shot at the world series.

It was a great game!. I thought the pregame introductions were excessive and the start of the game at 9:00 P/M. Eastern time almost assured that I would not be awake for the end.
I hope Konerko and Thome spent the time becoming familiar with the strike zone.

Let's not forget it took the AL SEVEN innings to win this thing.....doesn't look like minors to me! Oh, and what was your role in the game last night?.....

Again....SEVEN innings.......Why did it take the 'mighty' AL THAT long to win it?? I'm just saying....

What? Is Uggla your uncle or something, tough guy? Go shove another sausage down your throat, troll.
