'Awesome' beginning

Starting over never felt so good. With a first-time head coach on the sideline and a rookie quarterback under center, the Ravens swept aside the apprehension of change yesterday to launch a new era.

Bring back Brian Billick! This offense is too exciting! They made me jump out of my seat too much. With Billick's offense, I could stay glued to my seat for 3 hours and even take a snooze. It's so unfair being unable to watch Sam Koch punt 12 times a game.

Flacco is the real thing, a future pro bowl QB if he develops as well as he has played so far.
Some of the penalties can be written to Coach Billick, while he may be gone the feelings the refs have lingered on after the "bad" attitude boys have changed.
This is a much more disciplined team and it showed.
O-line looked wonderful.....and that is with Willie Anderson sitting on the bench. How do they fit him in now?
Still need one more quality WR and Todd Heap looked out of it yesterday (what's the story there?)
But it looks like a team that can won more than they lose,
a team that will try to win
and a team where never again will we see our QB take a knee trailing at halftime with 50 seconds left on the clock.
I love ya Brian but I would have fired you that halftime.
Kudos to Ozzie, Biscotti, Harbaugh and the team.
You made us feel good again.

Lorenzo Neal and Mclain are like trying to tackle dump trucks. Those two would wear down any defense.

No doubt. I am realistic, its a long season, so who knows what will happen. Thats why they play the game!
But that was one of the most intense and satisfying victories to savor I have experienced in a long time. Im still hoarse this morning. Great effort from the coaches and players.

Awesome game yesterday. The offense looked solid and I think Harbaugh did a great job of keeping things on the ground so as not to overwhelm Flacco on his first game. Flacco looks like he has a good head on his shoulders and with more experience I am sure he will get even better. I say we keep Flacco in even if Smith is better and even if he messes up from time to time. It is obvious that he has talent and we need to grow that talent.

That being said, we really need to get some one or two more reliable recievers. Todd Heap was a big dissapointment (personally I think he is overrated) He obviously forgot how to catch a ball and keep it.

I think you hit the nail on the head. One of the things I read was that the Ravens organization made it a concentrated effort to draft a QB, and they sent out "questionaires" to many of the top QBs, and Flacco came back with the highest. True, you have to have the skills to back it up, but he played smart yesterday, big time. Some luck helps too. It was just a great game to attend. I think this kid really has the tools to be something special. Time will tell. But this week, I am going to revel in Sundays effort.

Boy what a GREAT football weekend! First Ohio State had to WORK for their win, then Flacco forgot he's the Ravens QB and ran like HELL!!!! Great job...Troy (OSU alum) better take more antibiotics and get reattttty. I thought too many Sun sports writers wrote on the same subject BUT I like the different perspectives. Hey Schmuck Grey's Anatomy is back in a week. Edward Lee knows why he has my (and daughter's) heart????

Our team played an entire 4 quarters of football and look like they could have gone for 2 more quarters and still be hyper. The Hardball camp showed thank you so much coaches from Head Coach on down for preparing us. This is a start of a beautiful thing. I love the all black pants, very nice.

Overall, an excellent game from Flacco and the Ravens. Things that I noticed that havn't changed from last year:

**Ray Rice twice, back-to-back, going out of bounds to stop the clock inside of 2 minutes of the first half. They were already in FG range, it would've been nice to go in at halftime with a 10-0 lead. Keep that clock going and make Cinncy use their last timeout. As a result, enough time was left on the clock for a Bengals FG before the half.

**Rolle with a delay of game penalty, throwing the ball in the air after a fumble recovery. Though the fumble and play was negated by instant replay, it still shows the dumbness hasn't left some of the Ravens.

I totally agree with you about the WR but I would not part with Mason, yes add some more dependable WR but Mason has to be our primary guy, I don't care if he ran slower than my pet snail this guys is so big for us.

That was fun! The great thing about sports is that sometime a team's total is much greater than the sum of its parts; maybe it is just heart and guts coming through. Based on what we knew coming out of pre-season, it looked like we didn't have much good going on. Having Reed and MacAllister back was a big lift, so the defense was more like what we're used to, thank heavens. Flacco looked like a pretty cool customer and made no mistakes. Cameron's offensive program was a work of art. Ngata's stop on the Bengals' 4th and 1 in the last quarter was key. Rice and McLain are a great 1-2 punch at RB. And where in the world did that O-line come from? Congratulations Coach Harbaugh on a great team effort!

Ok folks a great win yes but, let's not get too excited. The season is very long and we did not play a good Bengals team yeaterday so a win is a win is a win and I'll take it. We need to put this all in perspective, this is a young team with possibilties
so let's see what happens when we meet the Steeler's, Colts and the Giants, there is the real test. So for now " GO RAVENS "

Boy, did I sleep good last night. What a great game of FOOTBALL, the lkes we have not seen since the Baltimore Colts. If it wasn't for the dropped T-D pass, fumble, kick return T-D brought back, over thrown T-D pass, and another dropped possible T-D pass etc. the score could have easily been 40 -10. But the greatest of all was after the great defensive stop, for the first time our offense said " ok, give us the ball, we've got it from here" and closed down the game. On TV the blimp showed the stadium form above, what a great sight. Great day for Baltimore. Thanks to our owner, Ozzie, our wonderful new coaching staff, and all the players. All that said, Heap was a disgrace. Like Jonathon O., as I said for years, we would be a better team without him. We also would be a better team without Heap. Billick who? Did I mention how well I slept last night.

So much for the doomsayers that the offense is weak and the defense is old. They looked pretty damn good to me.

I pay over $250 a year to get the NFL Sunday Ticket here in South Florida to see the Ravens every week. Yesterday made it all worthwhile.

So now we start kickinh Heap? How stupid are you. The guy is phenomenal. Did he have a bad game yesterday? Yes he did, does he deserve to be kicked? absolutely not.

Good Solid Job!! Offensive line held their own. Joe's poise and game management were solid. Defense, what can you say just another outstanding performance. Coaches thanks for your energy on opening day. I know its a long season, but for one day going up against a high powered offense like Cincys was just a nice way to cap off the day. Not to mention awesome weather at the game.. Move those chains!! huh
