How Palin can save McCain

If at one time women were considered heretical for swimming upstream against feminist orthodoxy, they now face condemnation for swimming downstream - away from Sarah Palin .

I am absolutely shocked that Kathleen th"mouthpiece of the Republican party" would have anything bad to say about a Republican - ever.

I was wondering how long it would take the Republicans to figure out that Palin is totally unqualified for the vice presidents job. I may not agree with McCain's position on a lot of subjects but at least he is qualified for the job. Palin's totally unqualified and has definite "airhead" tendencies.

Oh please! Kathleen has writte opeds for the Sentinel, the Washington Post, the New York Times .. and other unadulterated liberal rags. Do you think they would print columns from a true conservative?... get real.

There are many liberals and leaning toward liberals who are scared witless over a conservative christian being elected.''

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

What is Kathleen Parker smoking? "Hope" "change"?
Obama makes statements like that ALL the time!.. and He is hailed as God's gift to orators.

I'd likely vote for Palin for Gov of AK if I had the chance, but that is a far cry from thinking she's ready to be VP/P.

It is refreshing to see a sometimes shill like KP speak honestly - Palin seems to be a fine, intelligent person, but that alone doesn't qualify her for national office. The issues she's dealt with as Wasilla mayor and AK gov pale in comparison to those of larger states, let alone Washington.

When nominated, it was clear to me that the Repub's were supporting her through bit lips.(Only Peggy Noonan and Co. showed a peek behind the curtain when caught on an open mic.) At best, they gave here the benefit of the doubt, hoping for a miracle which didn't materialize.

George Will said we like the thought of common people (really, people with a common touch) becoming uncommon (i.e., spectacular) presidents. John McCain took this to the extreme by selecting an attractive, conservative woman without the experience for the job.(can anyone really deny the support she's received from the Repub base has nothing to do with a "princess in distress" image?- don't misread this - I didn't say everything to do with it)

In any event, we are where we are. Thursday will be another data point.

Treasure your vote. We get the governement we deserve.

And ps - Kansas Bailey - shouldn't you be out on a ledge somewhere?

Why the hate? What is with people hating Palin and Clinton. Where does this writer get off saying Palin should have said,'not yet'. You people are the biggest bunch of fools that ever had media jobs. Who is their right mind would turn down the opportunity to be vice president? These charges you should be making to Obama who has spent - even according to his own words, the last nineteen months flying in airplanes, living in hotels and eating restuarant food. What experience does this charlatan have? He has been a member of a hate filled church ran by a lunatic who preaches destruction and hate for this country but thrives on its riches. Are you people mad or what. If Obama gets in office, there will be one scandal after another. What the real issue here is liberalism. The Democrats want to live without morals and they want to be bailed out when they are not competent to manage money. You all had better pray to God that Obama does not get elected. You will see a real decline in society and this wonderful country of ours will become less powerful because Obama is only interested in being a world citizen. He will kiss the European's butts and they will take the best from our country and expect us to be their military. This man is nothing more than a black Benedict Arnold. I am a black woman and I know the type. Chicago is known for slick talking conmen.

Amen to that. Palin is in way over her head. Her interview with Katie Couric was like a parody of herself. It's scary to think she could be a heartbeat away from running this country.

If she were as experienced as her supporters claim, why has she been sequestered so McCain's people can teach her about the world? She can't even spout talking points effectively.

In modern history, all VP nominees immediately gave interviews to the press and didn't hide from them--even Dan Quayle.

Palin's pick is also insulting to the country. If McCain were still a maverick, he would've gone with Joe Lieberman or a safer choice of Romney. He could've chosen Kay Bailey Hutchison, a moderate-conservative who would be far more credible as a vp.

I can't believe you wannabe feminists and disgustingly jealous homosexual men are trying to force another female politician from running for - in this case - the Vice Presidency. Sarah Palin is a highly intelligent and feisty politician. Just because her interview with caustic Couris wasn't at the top of her speaking venues, certainly doesn't take away from her talent. Barack Obama has all of you so charmed that you don't even "hear" what that idiot says. He Called Senator McCain, "Tom" at the debate, he then referred to McCain as"'Jim" twice. Pakistan is an ally of ours and twice that evening, he laid out his plans for "going into Pakistan". This man is so clueless. I know that all of you are deathly afraid of Palin but you might as well get used to seeing her and oh, by the way, she will be living in the Vice Presidential Mansion. There is so much crime in Chicago and you never, ever hear Senator Obama mention anything about his plans to rid the city of it. He doesn't care about the average person. He is only interested in upper middle class people and others with money. Americans had better get their heads out of their rear and come to their senses. This man is not what you think.
Republicans attacked Obama when he first said he would attack terrorists in Pakistan, then when Bush launched an attack into Pakistan the Republicans cheered. You're not only clueless you're also a hypocrite.

And yes, her inability to answer simple questions on the issues of the day DOES matter. Palin may be intelligent, but she doesn't have a clue about world affairs.

She claimed that Freddie and Fannie "have been a drain on the taxpayers" NOT TRUE--they weren't supported by taxpayers until AFTER they were bailed out.

She was asked about the bailout plan for Wall Street and babbled on about healthcare because she couldn't answer the question.

Every question she gets it's like listening to a freshman college student who never went to class.

You are out of your mind. You clearly don't want to see a woman in hight office. You want to hear bumbling, then listen to Biden. He has made enough gaffs to say he is out of it. Roosevelt did not get on TV. Shame on you.

Palin is not a feminist. A feminist is a man or woman who supports true equality of both genders. Just because she's employed outside the home (what mother isn't, these days?) does not make her a feminist.

By the way, this unabashed, pro-choice liberal feminist does wear skirts and lipstick, as do many of my friends, but my hirsute feminist husband has never owned a pair of Birkenstocks, so stop generalizing!

I'm not sure what you expected. The obvious reason she was chosen is because she is a woman. I don't get the feeling much was thought about except Obama didn't take Hillary so lets go and try to get the female vote. I don't mean to bash Palin but I'm not sure the republicans thought this out to much. Much like the democrats didn't think much about Obama. They are trying to play the race card with him. The only difference between Obama and Palin is Obama speaks in public better. Obama doesn't come with any experience. He was just voted in as a senator. And has spent more time running for office then he has doing anything as a senator. At a time when this country really needs a leader, we do not have a good candidate to chose from. We instead are trying to play the PC game and will pay for it down the line.

You're as clueless as Palin.

Kathleen Parker is a Conservative in good standing. You attack anyone who dumps on your sweetie,'Evita' Palin.

Now will you tell us that George Will is another 'closet liberal' for his comments about McCain's theatrics of late???

You keep fooling yourself. You keep believing the 'drama queen' nonsense from the McCain campaign.

Keep proving to the world just how stupid you are.

After her "speed-dating with world leaders" last week at the U. N.(as one political writer penned it), her mediocre interview with Gibson, followed by an alarmingly clueless interview with "hard-hitter" Katie Couric, we ought to be very frightful that this woman could be thrust onto the world stage. Republicans, for once and for the good of the country, take off your stubborn, ideological masks and admit that this V. P. candidate couldn't find Africa on a map or describe the Marshall Plan with any credibility. Please, don't put the country through this.

Gov. Palin was chosen for the same reason that most VP candidates are chosen -- to help the presidential candidate win the election. I cannot think of any VP candidate in the last 50 years who was chosen because he (or in one previous case, she) would be the best default president in case of the president's death or impeachment.

Again, it's about JMcC's judgment more than SP herself.

I view the fact that Obama went through a primary selection, was not "the Democrat's choice" but rather was the choice of 18+ million who voted for him in stiff competition with heavily favored HC and an 18 month vetting process, is a huge difference from the handful of hacks who in a matter of hours selected Palin by overriding McCain's gut choice of someone else (Lieberman? Pawlenty?).

At the end of the day, elections seem to boil down to what people can understand. As a pundit said, the Dems allowed Karl Rove to define the 04 election as a choice between "I voted for it before I voted against it." vs. "You may not agree with me, but at least you'll know where I stand."

The more exposure SP gets, the more the 08 election may come down to "JMcC chose political expediency and rallying the base over a qualified VP candidate."

Treasure your vote.

LOL ... and democrats are scared to death!

If Sarah was as incompetent as you all scream ... you should love her being on the ballot.

We republicans love Biden on your ticket... LOL

The hysteria against Sarah is hilarious ... but the lies and slanderous and obscenity laced mud slinging is repulsive. It is really defining liberals.

Again, you are clueless.

Democrats are delighted.

Democrats know McCain is fading fast. All the drama, suspending his campaign, picking a fact-challenged rookie for VP, has backfired badly.

Obamalooked Presidential in the debate, McCain looked like he had constipation and was pis$ed off at the world. Scowling, muttering under his breath, the body language of an angry old man.

His performance in the debate proved his being totally incapable of being President.

An angry old man who can't containhis temper in a debate is the last person we need to have his finger on the nuclear button.

Bush was stupid, but McCain is stupid and can't control his temper or emotions.

You appear to be another angry old man. I'll wager you're as old as McCain.

Take you metamucil.

She could save McCain by withdrawing.

But it would be too little, too late.

McCain will lose this election.

Only massive vote-rigging by Republicans could bring about an Obama loss.

They've done it before.
