Oceanic's answer: Not our fault - Dave Reardon

As in the board game, as in the real-life version of Monopoly. The pesky utilities won't kill you like Boardwalk with a hotel, but they can be pretty annoying.

satelite tv and internet streams sounds very good after this last miss connection.
had called oceanic twice to get a reponse like its not on our side. we don't have any control on their side. if thats how planning or communication is going to happen in future games, i say trash it.
also was not happy with the final credits of the game where the wrong player was being credited for blocking the kick from fresno.
and last but not least, the offciating was so unbalanced, we should contact karl benson at wac.org and give him a thing or two about his officiating pool.
go warriors!

Officiating and Hawaii viewership issues?..sounds like an overall conspiracy to me.
Everyone who had a hand in the transmitting business got to profit in some way or another...so they all need to claim responsibility and refund every customer a portion of what they didn't deliver. If the customer didn't get to see but only three quarters of the game then they should be compensated for the one quarter that they didn't see.

You only got 100 complaints out of 10,000 customers becuase the rest of us 9,900 were still trying to get through the busy phone lines!

If Oceanic can't take care of their business.

This is why a monopoly is very bad. Any complaints get answered by a typical, "f*c% off, we don't need to provide quality service to you, a$*wipe".

Where's the PUC when you need them? Monopoly or not, this is just bad customer service. Right or wrong, all the people who paid for the service should get a refund or credit for another game. If UH is involved, they need to get off their okole's and work with the cable company in compensating the viewers. If they don't watch out, nobody will subscribe next year. Mr. Santos, if this is how you run a business, maybe you need to watch you back... competition may one day walk into the state and knock you on your OKOLE!

Service outages almost everyday and a rate increase every year. All with impunity. Must be nice to be a monopolist. Where are the regulators when you need them?

They only got 100 complaints because they wouldn't answer the phone. I tried to call and also kept getting an "all circuits busy" recording. Its typical Oceanic repsonse..."its not our fault, its yours."
Does anyone else feel that the picture quality sucks? It looks like a webcast stream. I complained and they told me it was my trouble not theirs..."check your connections, check your TV, your're the only complaining so is not us its you!" After 3 weeks going back and forth they said they had several complaints and it was K5s fault. I told them I thought I was the only one complaining and they said nobody else complained before me and the calls came in after I called. Talk about a CROCK OF CRAP.

Oceanic and UH, make a lot of money for the pay for view of the games. The quality of the broadcasts are very poor. OC 16, broadcasts local high school games in HD, but the people paying to view the UH games have to watch without HD. Now Oceanic says, and blames UH in part, so you missed part of the begining of the game, "Too Bad" if you don't like it go some place else.

it wasn't their fault. oceanic can't broadcast what fresno did not provide. if you wrote your column and tried to send it by e-mail to your office and the server in the office was down, is it your fault? no, of course not, and you should not be penalized when it doesn't come out. why should oceanic pay for this? why is everyone so into getting damages/compensation/ renumeration all the time? sometimes things happen and you can't always compensate everyone all the time for these kinds of things. have you thought of the flip side of this? if Oceanic has to pay for these outages every time, what if they just decide not to carry the game at all? then what?

This should be a straight forward simple matter:

1. Oceanic promised to broadcast the entire game for a fee.
2. Subscribers paid that certain fee to receive the entire game.
3. Oceanic actually provided only about 3 of the 4 quarters of the game.
4. Oceanic should prorate the fee and refund 1/4 of the fee for that game (for the 1 quarter that was not broadcast).

Its just responsible business practice to do that.
All of the other excuses to avoid paying made by Oceanic are irresponsible "bullying" tactics.

I with you we should get a petition to get our $15 back. Only fair. They did not deliver on a contract. I will put in my complaint today to make sure us silent majority get heard. Call Oceanic today.

If I can't file my column because the server is down, even though it is not my fault, I still have to find a way to get the job done, and if it doesn't get in, it's on me, as well as the Star-Bulletin.... there is a difference between "fault" and "responsibility."

When Oceanic does own up to a credit and it does not get reflected in your following invoice; Do the following: Make hand written change to the bill subtracting the credit. If it is added back in the next invoice, do it again with hand written explanation on the invoice. I did this several years back when they switched to the four numeral channels. The channel program listing did not work for two months yet the 4$ fee was listed on the invoice. I complained and they gave me a verbal credit that I had to force them to provide.
Perseverance pays off.
