Texas, OU Fans Say They Were Baited Into Illegal Lots

Dang, why couldn't I come up with a good idea like that, another reason why I love the state fair

This is so sorry. People shouldn't have to pay to get their cars back when they did nothing wrong. Shouldn't this be illegal?
|
|
|
It is illegal. It's called auto theft. If what the victims of this scam are saying is true...they should not have called 911. They should have given these scum bags a good old-fashiond Texas ass whoopin'!!
I would have gone to jail fighting for my rights before I paid these jerks one damn cent!! |

This is bad representation of Texas/Dallas. I think everyone should have their money refunded and sent an apology by our Mayor.
The sport and competition is good fun. Why ruin it? Bad apples spoil so much. How would you feel if it were Texans in Oklahoma that had been unfairly treated? |
|
A lot of them did call 911. The Dallas Police gave several people rides to Lone Star Auto Services but said there was nothing they could do. The people who were towed have to file a complaint with the city of Dallas...good luck with all that! Lone Star Auto Services knows most of these people are from out of town and how many of them want to start up that futile process? And towing companies wonder why people want to shoot tow truck drivers. |
|
are you saying that only the Oklahoma cars were targeted? I read it to be Texas & Oklahoma cars |
|
|
I imagine Arlington will get it right when the game is moved there.

Thisanother reason I refuse to spend any money in Dallas. The sooner they move the Texas OU game out of Dallas the better. I think it is a well known fact that the Dallas towing companies are police backed criminal organizations.
No state fair , or American Airlines center concerts or anything else discretionary. Tom Leppert you need to fix this nonesense.....now. |

Watch the games on TV,
If you must go, take a taxi to and from where you are staying. |

I was one of the people whose car was towed when I thought we were parking in a legal area. We came back to the lot on Haskell and Berry around 8 pm to find everything gone, and a sign up about anyone parking there being towed. I stayed there for over three hours trying to get my car back, and the police didn't care. This is after I came into Dallas from Oklahoma City, paid for a hotel, paid for restaurants, and thought I was having a great time. This hurt SO BAD and NOBODY CARED! I am already investigating what I can do about getting mine and everyone else's money back and pressing charges against this scam -- they STOLE MY CAR JUST FOR $200! If anyone else there has any ideas, please email me.. mandabeth115@hotmail.com

Who are you posing your question to? |
|
Yes, it was both OK and TX plates. We all were able to bond together for several hours waiting on our cars... and the police told us this was not the first time it has happened with this company, but didn't do anything. |

http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2008/may/12/d... Here is a story by Avi Adelman about this very company that has been ripping people in Dallas off for years now. Unfortunately if you read down in the story he writes: "So how do I get my money back??? The short answer is, you probably can't." It sucks that your trip to Dallas was ruined by a criminal business. I think this hurts worse than being hit by a common faceless criminal you never see because they are doing it out in the open and giving the finger to the victims as well as the city. |

I've been to the Fair almost every year of my life. Never had my car towed. I never parked in anyone's yard or on vacant lot. There's plenty of parking on the Fair grounds. They paid the price for being stupid.

So what is the city of Dallas going to do about this parking scam? What happened when the students called 911? Did the police do anything about the illegal towing scam? Refurbished stadium or not; Texas and OU should move their game where they don't have to worry their fans will get treated like crap. There are plenty of other stadiums between Austin and Oklahoma. Fair Park is and always has been a scary dangerous part of town and this is one of many incidents to spotlight the need for more Police presence over there. The State Fair might should take a poll and find out how many of us stay away from the Fair because one experience getting our car towed, stolen, or vandalized cured us for good. Texas is a big state, maybe the Fair committee should find another location for the State Fair where a larger number of visitors can be accomodated in a safer, friendlier town.

I hope the lot owners have to do time in JAIL !!!!!!!!!!

They towed our car. When we arrived at the fair. The fair parking lot was full so we parked in a lot where 2 men were holding up signs that said fair parking $10.00. We followed several cars into this parking lot. Paid the man the money and asked him if he would be there all day to watch our cars. He said yes. No signs were posted anywhere. We left the fair after the game was over to find our car was gone. There was a man there at the lot who said that he owned this property and had all of our cars towed. He said when he came to his property and saw the cars parked he called the Lone Star Auto Services to come and put up a sign. The Lone Star Auto Services towed every car from the lot. The man who said he owned the property stayed and resold the parking to other people. We then walked to the Lone Star Auto Services and stood in line for 3 hours before getting our car. The towing company charged us $189.00 plus there were scratches all over one side of our car where they brushed up against a tree towing our car. The towing company workers were rude and very unprofessional. It took 3 hours for them to process 6 cars. They only would take cash or a debit card. How many people come out of the fair with that much money? There were OU and Texas students, elderly, middle aged. No one should have to go through what we went through.
The city of Dallas should do something about this scam. The city of Dallas police even told us this was a scam but there was nothing they could do. Stealing cars is a crime and this is what the towing company did they stole our car. The towing company made about $30,000 from their victims in one day. The game should be moved to another location, if the fair officials can't provide enough parking. |
